This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!

We keep our old (1941) wooden trawler there at Anchor Cove -- and we're in Sevo's sometimes twice in a day (we forget stuff). The employees were so warm, friendly, and encouraging! They lavished praise and biscuits on my boy and he was beaming by the time we left. We also picked up a fairly priced, pretty roll of wrapping paper, a roll of tape, and a new ID tag for my dog's collar. If you need something on the island, Browne's will more than likely have it or be able to direct you to a shop where you can find what you need. There's ample parking and the interior of the store is spacious, well lit, and clean. There's also a wonderful garden center in the back with a great selection of plants and supplies. What kind people they also have a great and large selection :) employees that truly care and know what they are talking about and unlike Walmart employees they actually will show you where things are there very knowledgeable on different items and installs!!!!!! I was impressed with the amount of items being offered. They had all the usual tools from screwdrivers, hammers, and wrenches to all kinds of tool boxes, tarps, bungees, and flashlights, all kinds of gloves, power tools,, and even some specialty tools. I was surprised to see they even offered safes. I saw wall safes, floor safes, gun safes, and locking cabinets. In the 20 minutes I was walking around looking at what was available I must have been approached by associates at least 6 times! I could tell the associates were eager to help and wanted to make my shopping experience as smooth as possible. I noticed they were open 7 days a week. 9am to 6pm on Sunday and 8am to 8pm every other day.

They knew immediately the product I was looking for and directed me to the cashiers who have these locked up in a cage at checkout. I've been to this location quite a few times and have always had a good experience. On an additional note, I appreciate the reserved parking for veterans. I will definitely be returning for all my home improvement needs.
