I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. I chose a seat by the window overlooking the parking area. This was a great breakfast, that was reasonably priced, in a great atmosphere, with very nice people. It stuck to both my mind and ribs all day long. After breakfast, I continued on to downtown Concord and spent some time exploring one of North Carolina's most charming revitalized downtown districts. I called and asked if they check the avocado before putting in the food, and the person that answered said she didn't do it, that's the cooks......there was a weird moment of silence when nothing was said so I said hello? She rudely yelled I AM STILL HERE! It took me by surprise how rude she responded and I asked so is there some type of solution she could offer me because I just felt like how could you even put this in someone's food and feel like it's ok? I understand whoever answered the phone did not assemble the damn burrito but if your going to answer the phone, you are now the face of the establishment and the very very minimum you could have done is offer a simple apology and ask to POLITELY bring it back so the matter could be resolved. Instead she literally started yelling over the phone with a disgusting attitude and getting defensive! At this point I was just shocked at how this person was acting so I hung up, because I felt like if this is how your going to act over the phone, I can only assume you'd be the one to spit in my food. NO THANK YOU! This behavior is not acceptable, and if your going to be in a customer service position, learn how to provide appropriate customer service in general because this could have easily been handled without being rude and nasty!
