I ordered a vanilla latte and a glazed Bavarian donut. Deliciousness, good service with cool vibes.

Fresh made, hand dipped donuts in an adorable cafe on Main Street. Fun, sweet and a must visit.

Amazingly, there aren't that many donut places in this general Rockford, Belvedere, Machesney, Park…read moreLoves Park, Caledonia area..... I went by around noon and almost all the donuts were gone (a good sign!) and there was still a line in the drive-through. Naturally, I was inside. I had a super puffy glazed doughnut. Had a pretty thick coating of glaze, but it needed it because the donut was so thick. Please see photo. The other doughnut was something called Butter Nutter or something and looked like a Butterfinger was smashed and put over the top of the donut. See photo. I worried that the super thick glazed donut was going to be raw because it was so enormous, but it was cooked well enough where it was fine. It's sort of a skin on it like a bagel. Tasted really good. The other doughnut was super super sweet like sugar on top of sugar. I wouldn't have normally ordered it, but they were out of everything else that I normally would order. Good but too sweet for me. Again it was fried crispy, which is how I liked donuts. The ambience is what you would expect in an old donut shop... comfortably worn... I'll be back when I need a doughnut in this area.. Bonus: They also had fresh unsweet tea, which is great!

I was a bit disappointed given the hype here on Yelp. It was simply ok. The strength of my rating…read morelies in their maple bar (or long john, as they call them here in the Midwest). It's hard to find one around here anyway--in all the time I've lived in Chicago I have only found them a few times, and usually they have a stop of bacon on them (yuck), so finding one that was true to origins made me happy. And it was pretty good! It was pretty fluffy, and I've had ones that are much more dense and not as tasty. The cinnamon roll was just ok. I think that's mostly because I didn't like the icing; I think it was a pretty simple one made of powdered sugar, but I prefer a different type. The maple frosted fritter was disappointing. The woman working was nice enough. They did have lots of items to choose from and I couldn't decide so that's why I got a few things to haves a few bites of each. The price was outstanding, and that was nice too! They have lots of breads here, as well as hamburger and hot dog buns, and if I was heading to a picnic I'd get some to take along.

But of course while waiting in line I was overtaken by a bakery trance....I ended up with a loaf of whole-wheat sandwich bread, a bag of snickerdoodle cookies, a bag of chocolate chip cookies and four cream-filled donuts. The whole take was only around $17.00. Incredible price and incredible product! It's a good thing I don't live nearby....
