Old fashion, cake and raised donut variety
Laura S.

We went at 7 am on a Friday and were unfortunately disappointed. I'm not sure if their bake times have changed from our past visits (baking during the day instead of early morning), but it seems as though the early morning donuts are not fresh and potentially baked the previous day. Food 3/5: we got an assortment and none of them tasted fresh as we've had from this location in the past. They do have a nice variety and we love their old fashion donuts. Service 5/5: the girls were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall this place has great donuts *when they are fresh*. We love their old fashion donuts but unfortunately during this trip the donuts tasted as if they were day old.

As you see pieces missing out of all of them lol

Blueberry maple yay taste like breakfast, Choc old fashioned did not have a strong chocolate flavor. Lemon fill ok very lemon flavor, berry old fashioned not much flavor Coach toast coconut cake delicious very tasty Maple yeast good not oily taste to 2/ I tried 12 different flavors and most of them were good. Over all good place to get donuts.

Stopped in later in the afternoon and they only had donuts left..not sure if they usually have breads and other bakery items? Opted for one of their giant apple cinnamon fritters. I underestimated the size, because even 24 hours later and I still have half left for breakfast tomorrow

Donuts..what more can I say? I had a glazed donut, but I wasn't sure if I should get a sugar glazed donut. The service was good, but I felt a little rushed because there were people coming in behind us. I loved the tree painting and thought it was great decor. I would go back if I was in the area again.

The hunt for amazing donuts brought me to Greenbush Bakery and I left satisfied. Though I didn't buy one, the fritters OMG they are the size of a steering wheel. "YES, CAKE DONUTS!" Not a raised fan myself so anytime I can get cake donuts it's a win. I ordered my standby, cake with vanilla frost and rainbow sprinkles and I got an old fashioned cherry. $1.55 per donut is a good price, Is pay twice that for these. They were soft and fresh with great flavor. If you're like me and enjoy milk too wash them down they have you covered. Milk so cold your throat will burn YES! $1 for a 1/2 carton. Total $5.27 total is a deal. Highly recommend Greenbush. Next time travels bring me to Madison I will be back.

I use to visit this bakery on Regent St. when I worked in Madison. I was surprised to see it on the East side when I went to a store nearby. I don't commute to Madison anymore so am only in the area for specific reasons. I love their new store. This review started a while ago and I have been back to this bakery a couple of times, telling everyone I know who frequent the East side of Madison. We have tried a variety of their baked goods and they never disappoint! I suggest you get there early to have a variety of choices. Fritters as big as your head-today we tried the blueberry and cherry. Moist and delicious. We were shopping by East Town and swung by the bakery on our way home. It was about 12:30 in the afternoon and we did not realize they closed at 1 pm so we're happy the timing worked out. After purchasing the fritters we were told we could have some free donuts. My husband asked how many and they said 6. Wow-did not expect that. My husband choose some donuts with chopped peanuts on top, 2 with vanilla glaze and 2 with chocolate glaze and a couple of chocolate cream filled Bismarck's. If I eat a Bismarck it is usually custard filled because that is what "I thought" were the only kind I liked. However their cream filled was so light, fluffy and not overly sweet that my mind has been changed. We both ate a peanut topped donut on our 30 minute drive home and I told my husband I was glad we were in his car as he didn't care if peanuts rolled onto the car floor...lol. These donuts are one of his favorites and they did not disappoint. I'm pretty sure he inhaled his. While in the bakery we learned the name Of the ladies at the counter. They were friendly, cheerful and customer focused. Lisa and Reina were amazing! We look forward to our next visit while in Madison.

Second time we have stopped at their far east side location to pick up some donuts. I really like their cake donuts especially the cherry flavored version - delicious. Very moist (I know that word is not on trend but they are moist). I think these are a bit better than their yeast donuts - the peanut one was good but needs more peanuts! Definitely will stop again...

Donuts make me go nuts!! Classic mom and pop donut shop here. Nothing fancy though they do have a few snazzy choices. Affordable and delicious. Coffee's pretty good too. Refreshing, really, in a market saturated with overpriced commercial homogeny. Sufficiently sufficient customer service veering towards smug.

As a "Donut Professional", I would like to say that they aren't wrong being voted best donuts in Wisconsin. The Indiana donuts that I'm used to pale in comparison to these. Their apple fritters were the funniest part, they WERE ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE (I advise you share it if you get one). I'm going back here every time I get donuts for work.

Greenbush Bakery donuts are blessed! I went for a donut date with my nephew. My nephew chose a donut with sprinkles on it. He enjoyed it eating it. The staff even gave him a donut sticker. It made his day brighter! The donuts tasted good, and I must say we must go there earlier because they run a different variety of donuts fast.

Everyone loves a great doughnut! Everyone should visit Greenbush Bakery! You feel the quality in your hands before the rich flavors reach your mouth and savory powdered sugar, icing and fruit jelly filling smother your tastebuds. Greenbush will excite you and put a smile on your face.

Look at how big those fritters are compared to the other donuts!!

The staff was exceptionally friendly and made us feel like regulars, even on my first ever visit. I didn't order a meal, but they offer a full menu, plus the baked goods looked delicious. Pistachio one was my favorite. There were many Asian ice creams. Propitious mango was a good one. There were a lot of small food places in the food hall. I tried food from a lot of different places. The food hall had a lot of seats, and was neatly maintained. It was never crowded. Kawasaki is close to the entry of Global Market. So the first time I was there, I went straight to this place. I had a Chicken katsu rice bowl. It was one of the best food I had in the food hall. Display had some very delicious and cute cakes. Next time I should try some of that. Taiwan Street has nice pho and bubble tea. I went for a pistachio milk shake, without bubbles. It was good. But I think I should have really went for a pho. They have a lots of sweets in display. I went for a peach swiss roll and a sesame ball. Both were good. From Dumpling House, I went for a chicken and mushroom dumpling and chinese chive pie. Both were good . It came steaming hot. I think I should have gone for some of their more favorite items like chive and pork dumpling. From Nice Flavor Stir Fry , I went for a sauteed sliced lamb with cumin. Generally this is a really flavorful dish which you cannot go wrong with. But it wasn't as good as I expected. Flavors were off, and the quality fo meat was not as good as I expected. Stir fry chicken mei fun was my favorite item from Bowl Bowl Rice. It came hot and was flavorful. I also had a tea leaf flavor egg. It was just $1. But it came with egg shell. I had to peel it. Egg was slightly less flavorful than I expected. Mochi donut is the main item in Glazed. There were some food items as well, but I didn't find takers for that. I went for 3 donuts - Oreo, honey dew and churro. The flavors were all interesting. May be oreo was my favorite. Donut texture was more chewy. From S&B Hmong Kitchen, I went for a fried rice from this place. It was flavorful. Cilantro and scallion on top gave a nice flavor kick. From Poké Mì, I went for a drunken noodles as my entree. It was not as good as I expected. Flavors were off. May be I should have gone for bahn mi. I haven't seen sugar cane juice anywhere else in Madison. So went for one. I thought it was just ok.
