We had such an amazing time today! We booked thru tour thru Viator once we knew we would have a cruise port stop in Cabo. We paid $110 each for a 2.5 hour whale watching tour that included lunch and drinks thru out the trip. You also had to pay a $5 dock fee once you arrived. The ship is VERY clean and had at least six staff members constantly taking care of you- refilling drinks- they offered beer, tequila sunrise, pins coladas and such. They came around often for refills if you wanted- plus they had bottled water. They have very clean restrooms on board as well- like 4 stalls for each. We went out a couple miles and saw at LEAST 12 whales on this trip. So amazing. Captain Pepe did a ln excellent job of moving about to find them as well as turning the ship when needed to everyone could see. There's a max of 100 people allowed on board- I think we had about 65 on this weekday tour. The lunch was tasty and offered chicken or beef tacos with rice and beans. They also had a nacho bar with a nice pico, guacamole and hot sauce. They started lunch service at 11:30 and had everyone fed by noonish. They quiet the music when you're actively looking for whales and everyone participated watching and letting others know when they saw one. Big group effort!! It was a diverse crowd of many ages too so that was nice! They had us back exactly on time for us to ensure we were back to our ship on time. They were in good communication after we booked an ensured we knew where to go to board as well as answer any questions we had. We had a great day and I can highly recommend this tour company! NOTE- to those that posted a complaint that they weren't served drinks upon boarding before snorkeling- I believe that is a liability issue. Definitely recommend! Beautiful boat. Service was fabulous - the entire crew were attentive to every single passenger. They were dedicated to making sure everyone had a drink, had food quickly, and had a great time! The boarding process was quick! (Don't forget to bring the $4 dock fee in cash!) Once you board, you get a drink in hand! Every seat is a great seat on the boat! We choose the second level deck! The boat to us to see the arch at sunset! It was beautiful ! Then we saw whales!!! We had never been scuba diving before and couldn't have asked for a better instructor!! Angelo walked us through everything and helped us have an amazing experience. I will definitely be doing this again. I felt so safe and reassured that Angelo was always nearby and ensuring we had an awesome time. We even had two sea lions swim above us. Positives: The boat was spotless, the crew was friendly, and it ran on schedule. The bathrooms were very clean. Areas for Improvement: 1. The drink selection was very low quality. 2. Underwhelming dinner--two tortillas, a small scoop of rice, a kabob with minimal chicken, plus guacamole and pico de gallo. The two pieces of chicken on my kabob were less than 1 inch in size. 3. The entertainment consisted of a basic speaker setup and a staff presentation focused mainly on encouraging tips, with some dancing. Overall, I would not recommend this experience. read more

Three hour cruise (I had just done this cruise on the exact same boat a year before) Food and drinks included. Only to find out that they will not be serving alcohol until after our stop. it was infuriating that we paid $115/person and couldn't drink for the first two hours. They also ran out of beer. Weird that they have always served us alcohol as soon as we board. It's as if they knew that there was not have enough alcohol for our trip and then made up a rule that they couldn't serve us. We did not find this out until we had all paid our $5 fee and were on the boat ready to sail. I brought a party of roughly 25/30 people. They will not get our money again. It's a shame, the catamaran is very clean and nice but I was not told of this when I booked the cruise. DO NOT TRUST THEM. THEY LIED. read more

Highly recommend! I book Sun Rider for scuba diving in Cabos with two of my nephews. I really liked that it was a small group. It was myself, my two nephews, and a married couple. For our group we had 2 instructors. The married couple, the husband had signed up to do 2 dives and the wife was just coming along. They asked if she wanted to snorkel while we dove and she said yes. The boat ride was 5 mins away so very close. The instructors were really patient. It took me a few mins longer than the rest to descend in the water and someone stayed with me. When we were all under water, they did great at pointing out the different sea life. The dive was about 40 mins and a lot of fun. When the husband went for his second dive, we all came. It was another short 5 min ride to the site. The rest of us had the option to stay on the boat or to go snorkeling. My nephews and I decided to go snorkeling. We had about 40 mins to explore as we pleased. The water wasn't as choppy as the prior snorkeling trip and having fins made it so much easier to get around. Wish we had booked with Sun Tours for our snorkeling trip. It was a great experience and would definitely book with them again! read more

We are a family of 4 and enjoyed the laid-back, fun-loving vibe of this snorkel tour. From the shuttle drivers to the boat crew, we were taken care of start to finish. Our drinks were never empty and we saw a lot of fish. The bay you snorkel in is not the clearest water and we were deep enough out in the bay that I didn't see any coral reefs. Not as good fish viewing as I have done in Hawaii, but enjoyable nonetheless. The crew throws out bits of tortillas to get the fish to come up to the surface, so you will definitely see a lot of fish. The only qualm is the boat offers a lot less shade than other boats I saw. read more

This past November I went on a cruise to Cabo San Lucas. Due to the ship timing, many Scuba companies were not able to accommodate me until I reached out to Sun Rider. They were more than accommodating! I was about 15 minutes late because the tendering process from the ship was delayed but they adjusted their schedule accordingly. Instructor Camila took time to explain the weather and wild life that we would encounter. It also was several years since I last went diving, so she went into great detail to refresh my skills. Truly exceptional! During the dive she took videos which we could purchase, including one of a sea lion eating a fish! Overall great diving experience highly recommended. read more

We booked a 2.5 hr Sunset dinner cruise through our resort concierge. We paid $122/pp including RT transportation to/from resort to marina. The cruise was worth every dollar! We had a lovely time. From our first contact with our driver until the very end every single employee was extremely helpful, kind and professional. They really do an amazing job with all aspects of this cruise. The boat is beautiful, clean, ample and modern. I tend to get motion sick but I wasn't sick at all on this boat. Although, I still wore my motion sick preventative wristbands. The drinks were included and they had pretty much a fully stocked bar to choose from. I didn't see any off label liquor brands either. Drinks were delicious and NOT watered down. The staff were extremely accommodating in making sure everyone had whatever they needed at all times and were comfortable. They picked up empty cups/trash continually and took drink orders throughout the entire cruise and throughout the boat. The views are great from pretty much anywhere on the boat. They also had someone taking professional photos for an extra fee if you like. Dinner was rice, beans, chicken/carne asada tacos with guacamole, pico de gallo, chips and fresh fruit. You can also upgrade to include lobster for an additional fee. The food was good and the meat was BBQ'd fresh on the boat during the cruise. It's buffet style meaning you can get seconds, etc. The food was all kept very clean and was served by the staff. Guests line up. Towards the end of the cruise there was some interactive fun lead by the staff and dancing! I was nervous at first since I tend to not like activities on a boat since I get motion sick. However, I really enjoyed this! I highly recommend this cruise and I would definitely do it again. read more

Awesome experience!!! We took the sunset cruise which included whale watching, snorkeling, dinner and a stop by the famous arches. Boat was huge and fit our big group easily. I enjoyed mingling with the staff as they were very light hearted and ready to have fun with the group. I really appreciated that they took the time to stop and watch for whales. We did get to see them make an awesome display and the captain made sure to turn the boat so everyone could see. There were 2 BBQ grills on the boat. The chef grilled some kabobs and vegetables. There was also guac, chips, beans and rice. Food was ok. My least favorite part of the cruise. But I didn't book this for the food. I booked it for the experience which was perfect!! read more

Absolutely SO MUCH FUN! For families and couples, we had a blast! We did the sunset sail and snorkel. Cocktails kept coming, dinner was great, music was even better, and we snorkeled! If you're looking for something to do that knocks a few things off the bucket list; DO IT! It was $112 per person for a 4:30-8 boat time! My one complaint was that we were picked up in San Jose del Cabo and it took us 1+ hour to get to the marina because we had so many stops to pick people up. We were picked up at 2:20 and really could have been picked up at 3:30 easily. Just kind of a lot of extra time we could have spent at the resort, just so the company didn't have to waste time and gas. I think we would have preferred to Uber if we knew that was the case! Otherwise though, the closer to Cabo you are, the easier the bus travel. I'd still do it again! read more

They took us to the arch and encouraged the couples to have a romantic moment. The cruise was relaxing with the music and scenery. A very nice, albeit huge, boat for whale watching. It is definitely a party vibe, with free flowing cocktails from the moment you step on board. We came in mid-February, which is prime whale season, but before the massive party crowds of spring break. The boat was probably 1/2 full, so there was plenty of room and not too many folks too into the AYCD booze. If I were here on a busier season, I might opt for a smaller boat. The whale watching itself was nice, though I think it would be tough to head out and not see whales. We had a good show with a mom and calf, with the calf breaching very close to the boat. The boat can't guarantee the quality of your encounter, they just put you in position to have an encounter. It is up to the whales as to what you get to see. The buffet was much better than I expected, which isn't difficult. The chicken was tender, rice and beans were good, and there was a big tray of guac. And did I mention the free flowing booze? Overall, we had a great couple of hours out on a calm day in the Sea of Cortez. read more

So much fun!! My resort had coordinated for me to go on a cruise with Sun Rider. I was told that as a tourist I MUST go on the cruise and see the famous arch in the rocks. I was picked up from my resort and dropped off. I walked into the boat and found a seat on the outside of the boat. The staff is incredibly attentive from the moment i get on. I was greeted and offered a beverage. They had alcoholic and no alcoholic options. The cruise was relaxing I took pictures of the rocks, birds, seals. I observed the endless ocean and sailed past other boats and cruise ships. Towards the middle of the cruise we were offered food, they had a buffet going on. The food was really tasty just wished it was a little more vegetarian friendly. I couldn't eat the refried beans or skewers as they contained meat and lard. The bathrooms on this boat were small but very clean, I never had to wait too long to use it. Once the boat started sailing back to the marina music started playing and the crew started dancing. Passenger on the boat got up and started dancing, it turned into a party. The energy on the boat was fun and lively. The crew on the boat were awesome, I would gladly take a cruise again with Sun Raider! When the cruise ended I waited near the dock and my arranged transportation picked me up and took me back to my resort. read more

I felt really overwhelmed looking for a whale watching cruise. There are so many options .. Most very costly. The concierge at our resort recommended this cruise company. We actually booked through another company and got a discounted rate. When we boarded, we were greeted with rounds of drinks. The waiters spoke pretty good English and were very attentive. The tour guide was awesome.Very funny! What a great time! The music was good.. Nice variety! The views of the arch and Lovers beach were amazing! We were able to get some really great shots.. And now to the main attraction. The whales. I was initially nervous that we wouldn't see any.. But we saw at least 2. We stopped for about 20 minutes or more to check out the whale show. Dinner was served during the whale show. It was a very nice buffet of chicken and beef kabobs, rice, refried beans, and all the fixings. Lobster was available for an additional fee. I did not purchase the lobster, and one of the only things I did not enjoy was the melted cheese sauce which was thick and congealed. The crew invited those people who were celebrating special events to the front of the boat for special recognition which was nice. There was also a "sexiest man" contest which was cute. Dancing followed, and the crew performed a little dance. It was a really fun night. The only complaint I have is that although the drinks were tasty, there was really hardly any alcohol in them. I had like 15 drinks (slight exhageration), and didn't feel even slightly tipsy. Next time I'm in Cabo, I'll definetly be back! read more

My in-laws booked SunRider for a "sunset dinner cruise"; which from their website, would imply a peaceful/relaxing environment, where you could dine on a boat while watching the sunset over Cabo's beaches. In short, that is not what you should expect. When the website touted an open bar and Mexican buffet, which really did seem odd for the vibe they were trying to present, it sounded like just a bonus. In reality, this was a party boat. They played mostly rap/EDM/DJ mixes, very loudly, while people got belligerently drunk. We had gone out the night before and just wanted water, which we were frowned at when ordering and had to ask for 5 times. The crew's entire goal is to get you in the party mood, which was such a buzzkill when you didn't show up expecting to party. The food was a true buffet, which was set up well, but didn't offer anything specifically tasty. I had the chicken and it was fine, but the guacamole was just avocado mixed with (what I assume, after getting severely bloated) sour cream, with zero spice or flavor. Everything was simply OK, nothing was spectacular. The quality was probably on par with a free breakfast at a Holiday Inn. Obviously, the one thing they can offer is a boat ride, during sunset, along the beaches. As long as you get a good spot, the views are unbeatable - but that's something any boat ride can offer you in Cabo. Our in-laws had a blast, it seems, but we were left a little confused and wishing we'd done something a bit more peaceful on our last night. I would not recommend booking this based on the website description/photos, because your $90 ticket will not get you a "dinner cruise" here, by any means. read more

We had an amazing day. We booked the snorkel lunch. The boat ride was wonderful, seeing Lovers Beach and the arch first, then all of the hotels and beach along the corridor down to the snorkel spot. On the way we were fortunate to also see a few whales the last week of that season! The snorkeling was fair to good-- a bit crowded and I've seen more fish in other locations but it was fun. We saw puffer fish, trumpet fish, schools of fish etc and the staff were very helpful. We climbed back aboard to our wonderful buffet lunch waiting for us and more drinks. The staff brought us what we needed and then entertained us with dancing and fun. It was definitely an amazing day. read more

I went on an unforgettable whale shark adventure, and everything was magical! The driver, Luis, was very friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand. He also played some fun classic Pop tunes on the way to La Paz! The breakfast was incredible, and the entire 2 hour trip flew by with Luis's exceptional driving and the beautiful landscape. Once onboard the Sea Star II, I found a clean, reliable ship captained by an exceptional crew! Special shout out to Dellise for her friendliness, knowledgeability about whale sharks, and commitment to everyone's enjoyment. The swimming was intense and seeing the whale sharks in person was exhilarating. I was super happy to witness the commitment everyone in the company had to an optimal customer experience and the protection of local wildlife. The boat is like 4 mos old so it was immaculate. We booked the snorkel and dinner cruise through our concierge at Cabo Azul. Very easy to book and they picked up on time. The staff was awesome. They were helpful and very courteous. I would recommend this cruise company to families, we had a newly wed couple on the boat. We had our hotel call to book a whale watching excursion same day as we were going out. Hours before we realized that we booked on the wrong excursion and called to cancel.
