They came out for an initial repair/service after we had difficulties installing a nest thermostat. They came out and worked on the unit but were not able to get it operational. They informed us that they would be returning to finish the repairs. For almost 2 weeks I kept trying to schedule a follow up appointment for them to complete the job. Four times in two weeks the response I got was "we are waiting on pricing". Finally the last time I called they informed me that they would be there on Thursday between 8am and 1pm. Come Thursday at 1pm my wife called to see if they were coming and they said we did not have an appointment. I called them back and explained my frustration with the process and could not understand how it takes 2 weeks to figure out pricing. They then told us to wait and they would get back to us. They called back a short while later and stated that it would be over 1,000 dollars and that wiring to the system had to be replaced. And they wanted payment prior to even showing up. This is after we paid over 200.00 for the initial appointment. And that amazed us because after the first visit they told us that they were not sure what was wrong and they come back to diagnose the problem and would not charge us of the second visit. Clearly that was a lie. And if they always knew what the issue was, it should not take two weeks to figure out pricing. They dropped the ball and kept giving us the run around. Do not use this company.... but if you do and they tell you they are waiting for pricing.... they are lying to you. I have never had to post a negative review of any company or service I received until dealing with Sunray. Find another company. read more

Had and air handler put in with a heat coil...The installers that came seem to know nothing about what they were doing ...Never got any kind of paperwork in the mail about what was covered or anything about the finance option I got through them until a collection agency called me and said I was late on the bill...Horrible!!!! read more

Tech and customer service are kind, respectful and professional however the business itself is a ripoff. They refuse to itemize the bill. I've heard of reports about service companies who damage property in order to make money on repairing the damage. Well here is one such report, my personal report. My gas furnace stopped working and I had to get someone to repair it. I found SUNRAY SERVICES in the local South Bay publication. I called and set up an appointment for that day. The service tech Chris arrived and we brought him downstairs to the boiler room. He opened the furnace and began inspecting the unit. When Chris got to the ignition module he had difficulty removing the spark wire. My husband watched as Chris used a plier to yank the spark wire from the ignition module. As a piece from the module fell to the ground Chris said a piece broke off but that's ok because I need to replace the module anyway for $571. He went to his truck and brought in a new module and replaced the old one. At this time he still couldn't get the furnace working and informed me that I now also need a blower motor, another $715. I started feeling extorted, totally taken advantage of and downright ripped off. I chose to pay the $100 service call and get a second opinion. The next day I got the second opinion and was informed that the original problem with my furnace was just the blower motor. But since the ignition module was damaged by the SUNRAY SERVICES tech I would also need to replace that. A new blower motor was installed and to show me that my ignition module was not the original problem as mentioned by SUNRAY'S tech, the spark wire was connected with electrical tape and the unit was working fine with my old module. I immediately call SUNRAY SERVICES to inform them about their incompetent service tech and to see if they would do anything about it. I was told that someone would have to get back to me and that would be within the hour. That was a little after 1pm. At about 2:30 I called back and got their answering machine. Thinking they might have caller ID and are trying to avoid me, I blocked my number and called back. Not to my surprise they answered the phone. After telling my situation again to the girl on the phone she connected me with Craig. I'm not sure if he's an owner or manager. Either way he was a terrible representative for the company. He didn't want to hear anything I had to say and constantly spoke, then yelled over me. He refused to rectify anything and blamed me for wasting the company's time by having a technician come to my home. As a final note the ignition module cost $78 through Amazon, not $571 through SUNRAY SERVICES. The blower motor cost $165 through Granger in Farmingdale, not $715 through SUNRAY SERVICES. Including installation the savings was close to $1000. Is SUNRAY SERVICES a company you want repairing anything in your home? read more

I had an issue with my system loosing freon every year but I could get through the season. Sun Ray came in and diagnosed the problem without really looking at the air handler. When they arrived their service person welded all the compression fittings and melted the entire unit requiring I replace the entire system. read more

I just moved into a new home and it was sorely in need of new heating, air conditioning and a water heater. They just completed installing all three items and we could not be happier. They showed up on time, performed the installation without a flaw and cleaned up after themselves. On top of that they were a very courteous group as well as very professional. this company is horrible do not hide them reading the reviews i should never had hide then .. i had problems with my Ac a few weeks ago they come a check we told then we have water by the water pump and they dont wven check that they told us we have problems with the cooler thats right the water was there okay we are not experts they did something different okay suppose fux the problem a week later my air conditioning had problems again i called then and the nasty girls who answer the phone told me they going to charge us again just to see what was the problem .. i undestand but they didn't do their job correctly the girls hang up the phone on me i ask can i speak with a manager they told me he wasn't there okay .. we dont care we can paid to fix the problem i dont want to hear all the bull shit from this girls if we come we have to cahrge for a diagnosis and for showing up .. we paid almost $900 dollars a week ago why i have to paid for then just to showing up again .. i called a different company last week and rhey fix it they dont give a hart time or charhe me for showing up the problem was the pump we replaced and we are good now .. ..save your money and find some one who is not going to scam you .. people who come to ur house they are not professionals .. *ps this is luisa Hattermann. read more

I've had an AC / heating contract with Sunray for years. Their guys are courteous, professional and neat, and I've always been able to rely on them. When I first began using them they were much smaller than they are now. That said, when there's s need to speak with the management, they're always very responsive. read more

I've dealt with this Company for almost 6 years now and I have to say it's been a pleasurable relationship. Having been in Customer Relations and Sales for my entire professional career, I do like the fact that if I've ever requested to speak to an Owner regarding a question I've had, I've been always put in contact with one within 24 hours of my request. That speaks volumes as I hate when I'm given the run around. I actually had an issue in the midst of Hurricane Sandy a few years ago and one of the owners showed up at my house himself. I've always been impressed by Sunray. Hopefully you will be too. read more

The two gentlemen that showed up to do the job were professional and respectful. $733 .00 for a fifty dollar part that was installed in ten minutes has got to be the best business on the planet. Terrible service! They changed multiple parts on the on Central Air Conditioning unit. It worked for an hour then failed again. They charged $560 bucks. I had to call another company and as it turned out all the parts that were replaced had nothing to do with the original problem. I had to call another company, thankfully honest and fixed the issue. Apparently this company gives incentives to their employees to sell parts and they get a commission.. Do not use this company!!!!!!! read more

These guys at Sunray are the biggest bunch of jagoffs. They are crooks from the word go. I paid $15,000 for a brand new air conditioning unit. Not even three years later, unit is leaking and I come to find out unit they sold me unit that is part of class action lawsuit. They charge me $700 to do some dye (to diagnosis issue) and fill up the Pureon. Anyone who uses these clowns is NOT thinking straight. One of the owners who is the operations genius (Craig) is a total A-hole. He demands payment and says he will work with you after ripping you off !!! Be very AWARE !!!!! read more

I paid over $17000 for 2 new gas furnaces and air conditioning units with the understanding that Sunday stands by their work and will process all rebates. Almost six months latter, and they have not even submitted a rebate to pse&g for a $1400 rebate. I have multiple problems with the installation (ac unit in attic leaks thru ceiling) and job is left unfinished. Sick of getting no responses and empty promises. This business should be closed down. Out of my hands now, department of consumer affairs and small claims court initiated. Do yourself a favor and don't trust this company. read more

Would not recommend.... We contracted for Sunray Systems to provide and install new A/C units plus a new high energy heating system. It had a 5 year warranty -- some parts even listed as 15 years. Starting that winter, the heating system would shut itself off on very cold days. We called them back many times. but the answer was always the same - they could see nothing wrong with it, except that it shut itself down. We lived through a few seasons of this - waking up to a cold house and manually resetting the switch. Luckily we had no winter vacations planned or we might have had some frozen pipes! In 2011 (five years almost to the day), the system shut itself down and this time would not restart -- plus we found a puddle of water on the floor. We soon learned we had a cracked heat exchanger. I learned that this part has a 15 year manufacturer warranty. Unfortunately the labor was $3800! It required complete removal dis-assembly, and re-assembly of the unit. We called the manufacturer and learned of another vendor. We had the another vendor install the new part (they were on site for more than three days). Unfortunately the system still shut itself down after this repair on cold days. The new vendor came back and tried everything they could think of -- at no additional charge. They replaced the circuit board, the ignitor, and checked the settings many times, often spending hours working on the phone with the manufacturer to try and isolate the problem. Finally, one day, the new vendor realized that Sunray had installed the circulator pump upside down. This had sent freezing cold water into the heat chamber, causing vapors to trigger the sensor which shut the machine off on cold days. Eventually the cold water caused the heat exchanger to crack, which cost us $3800 to repair. When I took this matter up with the owner of Sunray, in an attempt to settle the matter, he accused me of making the entire incident up. He claimed that we fabricated the entire ordeal, and that no problems ever existed. Even though I faxed him some complaints and kept copies -- and the fax prompted visits by his repairmen, he claimed that he never received it. Apparently his poor record keeping provides him a convenient, blanket denial. I would not hire Sunray Services if they were the last company on earth. This is very unusual, I am usually a very loyal customer and have only rave reviews for all the other companies we have dealt with. read more

Sunray are crooks. My Ac unit had no freon. Sunray came said I need a new unit with out ever coming in the house. He said maybe the freon would hold for. $650. The next day it was empty. They said they would come back for $500 and check for a leak but a new unit would be $7500. I refused and called a friend. He found the leak in 5 minutes braised it filled the unit it's been 72 degrees in the house. Sunray is a crook. Stay away the said he didn't know what game I was playing. I can't thank Sunray for helping us in a time of need. This summer our A/C system broke and they sent a service repair guy to my house on a Saturday afternoon... ( unbeknownst to me, My husband decides to run out and get lunch) The repair tech waited patiently for him to return). My AC was temporarily repaired and we were given several options knowing the system would need to be replaced. They scheduled another service call around my schedule and recommended a unit that was more efficient. Their work was neat/ clean but most importantly... I am saving on my bills now.... This is the worst place, I got the worst service. After being stuck for 3 miserable hot days, had no choice to call these people after one day could get any one out to my house. Finally called them back the next day they said that they will come to us Btwn 1-6, min you there freaking service suck they came at 9:00pm that's night in the hott hot summer day, which I can't tolerate the outrages heat they can at 9:30pm- then didn't even last five mins charged me about $789.75 ridiculous pricing and over price., for small parts- contractor,and capacitor. Made me sign a paper before project was done.I had no choice I need my cooling system fixed. I had no choice!! It was hot, I couldn't stand the heat. I wish that one day these people would price there part more reasonable then what they charged me.I think these people are the worst company I'm going to report them to better business borough. They are the worst called them in supervisor tried to give a discount bit tricked me to become a member and offered me 15%. Don't waste your time. We recently bought a house and had a problem in that the heat was coming up for no reason on a hot day in June. We could not get it to turn off and called the number on the thermostat. A technician was dispatched (and he was GREAT, by the way) and we were told that it's $100 for the service call. Fine. But when the tech got here, he wanted to make sure we were aware that if the service goes over 30 mins., the price jumps to $375! We were NOT told this on the phone. The tech said they monitor his truck through GPS so he could not do anything for us if it went over 30 mins. Luckily, he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it within the time frame (there was a short in a wire). After he left, he called us and told us he just had a screaming match with his boss who was mad that he FIXED the problem. Apparently, he was just supposed to diagnose it and to fix it would require more money. My husband told the boss that the only way to diagnose this problem was to try another wire and in doing that it was fixed. We had paid the $100 already and certainly were not going to pay any more. This boss said 'how am I supposed to stay in business?' We said, by being forthright and honest and GETTING RECOMMENDATIONS, which we will never give.. Duuuh! Will NEVER call them again. read more
