I was super happy with my first experience with Safehaven but my second experience wasn't so great. After a full season of running, I had Savehaven come out for our yearly maintenance. When they came out, they spent less than 30 mins here from arrival to driving away and said everything was clean and that no cleaning was required. I ran the burner for an entire season (Sept. to July of the next year) but for some reason, they kept saying that they were here recently which they were not. They only changed the filter, said everything was clean and charged me $250 for this service. The first time around, they were in the house working on the boiler for maybe 2 hours and cleaned everything inside the boiler and changed the filter. I was expecting this level of service the second time around and wondered why I paid $250 for this service when 95% of it was not done and apparently not needed. I will find another company the next time around. read more

I've had Safehaven do plumbing work 3 times. Tom, Lori and the other guys were great and easy to work with. The text system is very convenient. I'm always ok with paying more for quality and someone I trust, but the materials pricing is a bit crazy. After my last call, I was charged $42 for 10 feet of pvc pipe which costs $13 at Home Depot. $17 for a pvc elbow which is $3 at Home Depot. $29 for a coupling that costs $9 at Home Depot. I was only given the labor price up front, so I was a bit blindsighted by the materials cost. If the extra cost was lumped into the labor, I honestly wouldn't have given it a second thought. Seeing it broken down like that makes me feel a bit taken advantage of. read more

Another great job performed by SafeHaven! Earlier this year Jason replaced the CAC system and it was obvious from that experience that SafeHaven was a professional, top of the line company. We knew if we ever had the need for any more repairs in the house, this would be the company we would call. So, the time came again just last week. We have been dealing with slab leaks for years, one after another wherever a hot water pipe comes up through the slab, and in the dirt, under the slab. We had gotten to the point where we had a plumber come in a move all of the lines that supply water to the baseboards above the slab. This time the leak was under the tile in the bathroom. There was a leak close by earlier this year that a different company took care of (we didn't know about SafeHaven at that time). Thomas and his assistant Steve came over at their first opportunity, which was very much appreciated. Thomas quickly located the new leak and offered a couple of choices on how to proceed. Since we had already moved the baseboard piping above the slab we decided to do the same in this case. We really want to be done with slab leaks once and for all. Thomas moved the water line above the slab. He was very professional and explained everything that he was doing. The job was done in a matter of a couple of hours and everything is working perfectly. They were considerate, honest, and extremely competent. My washing machine spin/drain cycle caused a backup in the sink! (never happened before!) After I (a handyman) checked everything that I could, from blocked drain pipe to air vent to clogged sink, etc., and attempted plunging, et al., I called Safehaven, primarily due to their great Yelp review and close proximity to my home (their address is a storefront postal box address) (n.b., I've had other plumbers at the house, but, they left a lot to be desired; overpriced and could only do half of what I needed done (i.e., not fully versed in their own profession!)). I was given a flat fee for them to appear (i.e., no free estimate), plus any work expenses, time, and labor, which I approved (a little pricey, but, these days, what isn't?). A worker showed up the next day, on time, investigated the trouble, but, couldn't see anything obvious. So, he sent a "roto-rooter" into the drain pipe for the washing machine, which, despite sending an alleged 50 feet in, it did not appear anywhere: not the sink, not the air vents, nor the garage cleanout to the cesspool! He thought there might be a drywell, but, to the best of my knowledge, the 65-plus-year-old home has no such thing. Failing that mystery, he poured powdered lye down the drain pipe and the sink, then poured hot water into both. A few minutes later, I noticed that the garage cleanout was crystal clear; it has NEVER been that clear, before! Then, we ran the washing machine, and there was no backup, thank goodness! So, nearly two hours in, and the plumber did the job, ostensibly with the lye, since the "roto-rooter" didn't seem to do anything other than make noise from inside the drain pipe's wall! Regardless, I'm happy with the result, and he even cut me some slack with the price! I paid in cash to get a discount (credit cards get a surcharge), and gave him a $20 tip, not only for his time, but, also, for his patience, genuine non-patronizing friendliness, and willingness to listen to me whine about the problem and everything else under the sun! ;) read more

I've always cooked on a gas stove. I moved into my new house two years ago. Heating and hot water was gas, but the stove was electric. After two years of frustration and hearing all the talk about gas stoves being banned, I decided to switch. Safehaven replaced a broken sewage pump in my new house two years ago, so I called them first. The estimate came in a tad over budget, but I was able to save on the gas stove thanks to a Presidents Day sale. Joe and Steve arrived on time to run the gas line. Tom, the owner, stopped by to see how the job was going. They did a great job running the gas line around the outside of my house to the kitchen. They also installed the stove perfectly. First to respond. I received a quote the same day I emailed pictures that was requested. They were on time and completed the job quickly and professionally. They replaced my expansion tank on my water heater. They rerouted the water line and hung it correctly. They found a small leak on my water heater and fixed it. They replaced the fill valve on my toilet and installed a bidet. I mentioned a leak on my spigot outside. I was told the leak was from the packing. He repaired it. He could have said it required replacement, he didn't. Most important, they are on time, professional and are very nice people. They took their time to explain things. Joe was an extremely nice guy - knowledgeable, competent and quick. He replaced an outdoor spigot, a toilet feeder valve, installed a new master shutoff to the house and replaced our kitchen faucets with a new hands-free unit we purchased online. If I could give Tommy and his team (Lorenzo, Joe, Lori-Ann, & someone I haven't met yet), 10 stars, I would. **********. First, I found them on Yelp so thank you to all of the reviewers who gave them high ratings. I was extremely unhappy with the last plumber I used, so when my boiler decided to stop working, I needed to find someone who was highly rated. Tommy told me what was going on with my gas boiler, and pointed out that my 15 year old water heater had a slow gas leak, so we needed to plan for that as well. We thought we wanted the highest efficiency gas boiler/hot water system, but he pointed out that if we lost power, we wouldn't have hot water. Since we've been without power for numerous days several times due to storms, this wasn't a great option for us. So we went with the higher efficiency and separate hot water heater--which is still much more efficient than what we previously had. He gave me an estimate (and of course, we had several estimates), and his pricing was very fair. Even though the prices had gone up do to supply chain issues, he honored the price he gave us. He explained things so clearly that deciding to use Safe Haven was a no-brainer. It's a family-run business, so he didn't give me an estimate and then send a guy with one of his trucks to do the work. He doesn't work that way. He and his crew handle all the jobs. He and his crew were extremely neat. Also, (and this might be what I loved about them the most), the day after the installation we found that we had no heat in my daughter's room. Not their fault--it had to do with the way a contractor had reconfigured pipes when we were doing a renovation, so it was a behind the walls issue that he couldn't have seen. Still, he made it a priority, left his crew at a large commercial job they were working on (not near my home) and ran back to my home to figure out and fix the problem. I couldn't finish this review without mentioning his fabulous one-woman back office staff--Lori-Ann. She was amazing. She tracked him down to ask him questions we were concerned about before he started the job, and when we had the problem with the heat still not working in part of the house, she tracked him down, made sure he was going to be getting to us that day. Lori has a way of making you feel like her new best friend or part of her family. I am going to miss speaking with her every day. The guy asked me to text him my info and he'd get back to me that day or the next. Didn't hear from him until a week later. I had to find someone else to come.
