Absolutely the worst company servicing central air conditioning units. Last year i used them and the technician came and serviced my 3 units. Did a great job, clean filters clean units thumbs up. I used them again this year and made an appointment to service the same three units. The technician comes, does nothing but look at my units for $325 and then gives me 5 invoices of what he recommends that needs to be done. The estimate invoices ranged from $3,000 - $8,000. I called up and got the service manager. Asked what did the technician actually do when he was here? His response was visual inspection. I told him that the technician i had last year was wonderful and changed filters, checked my units on and off and did cleaning. His response was "yeah he was fired for giving away "free service". I said that doesn't make sense. You fire a great worker because he made your customers happy and satisfied. I asked how did i go from last year thumbs up on my units to this year estimated invoices up to $8000. I dont use my units all year round and how could this many things be wrong? (My units are only 10 years old). His response was last year you received estimated invoice for things to be taken care of and i didnt do them. I NEVER got any invoices last year and once again he said that's why the tech was fired. I asked the service manager to send me estimated invoices from last year along with the tech's name. He tells me he doesnt know who the tech is because he is only with the company for 3 months. So my response was you are only there three months you dont know the tech i had last year, but you tell me he was fired for "giving away free services" and he can not supply me with the estimates from last year. How do you know the guy was fired, you don't even know him, and to boot you were not even employed there. Needless to say yes i did tell him he was an a@@hole about 5 times during the conversation as well as told him he is full of sh@t and said i am giving them a bad review so they dont screw other people. For your reading entertainment this is the email i recevied from the service manager "Given your behavior during our recent phone conversation--specifically the use of profanity, insults, and threats--we will not be facilitating any further direct communication with you. Any further attempts to contact our office will be considered harassment and will be reported to the proper authorities." CLEARLY HE DOES NOT KNOW THE HARASSMENT LAWS , nor the proper authorites but decided to push this off as if he does. His "harrassment email", his total lies of fired techs, the "maintenance schedule is only for a visual inspection" is all a big joke just like this company. BE WISE AND DON'T USE THEM! read more

Prompted by recent ad for a $99 special. BEWARE the company lies, steals and attempts to rip off longtime customers such as me. Maybe because I am a senior citizen. Illegal unfair charge for travel when this was not mentioned on original $99 charge for furnace maintenance, which was paid on completion of the inspection. Service man suggested 2 parts ($20) and would return to install (10min). No mention of additional charges. Approx. 1mo. later received CC bill which indicated an approx. $700 charge which was never authorized. Sued, won, SS never showed up in court or contact anyone. I wish no star was an option because this is exactly what they deserve!! I called this company (and I used this term very loosely) regarding a natural gas furnace that was short-cycling and Omar showed up the following day. At the time, I already had an appointment with a contractor for an estimate for some unrelated work for the exterior of my home, so they were both here at the same time. While I was outside with the contractor, Omar tells me that my furnace needed a thorough cleaning and I will need a flame sensor and ignitor, and he will need to order the parts, and they should arrive within a week. He also mentioned that the a/c needed to be serviced. I mentioned this to the contractor and laughed that I am not worrying about the a/c at this point because the system has been turned off for the season. Omar also tries to convince me that I will need a new furnace because mine was old. I have owned this house for over 16 years. It was built in 2007, and I have never been without heat!!! The only recent issue I had was the unit short cycling. The unit is in great condition and looks practically new!!!! I had the furnace serviced just last year and it was cleaned then, so it couldn't possibly need a deep cleaning because I change the filter every 3 months and it is never black or showing signs of heavy dirt buildup!! I checked my invoice with my previous company, and the cleaning was only $244. Omar asked me to sign for the parts on his iPad, and he would need to collect the money that day. So, I gave him a check and about a half an hour later, I receive a message from Danny/Sunray indicating that Omar went to the supply store for the parts and is on his way back to complete the job. So, what happened to having to wait for it to be ordered? When Omar arrived, I mentioned how quickly he had returned and he said they weren't that busy. Which now explains why he was trying to get me to spend unnecessary money and why I was extremely overcharged!!!!! The job cost me $1,268.36!!!! I had to call the office the following day to receive the invoice to see exactly what was done for this amount because one was never provided by Omar at the completion of service!! Once I reviewed, it appears that I was charged $517.65 for a service contract which was never discussed, and I never agreed to!!! When I signed the iPad, I was under the impression that this was to authorize the parts to be ordered but I was ultimately tricked into signing a service contract!!! The contractor was standing right next to me and can verify this!!! I also checked the prices for both the ignitor and the flame sensor. The ignitor is between $25 - $50 and the most that a flame sensor should cost is $60. When I called the office and spoke with Melissa, she could care less about my issue!! So, as a result, I have reported them to the proper authorities and will be contacting my attorney to see what legal action can be taken against these fraudulent charges!!! There is no way I am taking a $1,200 loss!!!! I wish I had read these reviews before contacting this company!!! If a company can take advantage of Veterans and Senior Citizens, then anyone is fair game. But they have crossed the wrong one because I am not one to lay down and take a loss when I've been taken advantage of!!! I advise anyone even if your home goes beyond a temperature you can tolerate, do not EVER EVER EVER contact this company for any service work!!!!!!!!! read more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY... I've had 2 Central A/C units and a Split Unit installed by Sunray... They neglected to register any of the items with the respective manufacturer... Needless to say, they all broke (within 3- 5 years); when I called SUNRAY for service, they informed me that their units were not covered, BECAUSE THE NON- REGISTERED WARRANTEES HAD EXPIRED... Of course, they blamed me for not registering the products... I've had to replace all 3 at a cost of over $15,000, solely due to their lack of customer care... Recommended by Home Depot for water heater replacement. Contacted by one of their representives and supplied them with pictures of the existing water heater. Pretty straight foward replacement of my accessible 50 gallon natural gas heater. Was quoted an estimate of $3500 for the water heater, installation and removal of the old one !!!!!!! Rep told me that they need a permit from the Town of Islip to replace a water heater and it added $1000 to the price! THE TOWN OF ISLIP DOES NOT REQUIRE A PERMIT FOR REPLACEMENT OF AN EXISTING WATER HEATER. !!!!!!! read more

Sunray replaced our old air-conditioning unit with a new 16 Seer Unit. From the beginning of the project to the conclusion, from salesperson to installers everything was extremely professional. Installers were prompt, very neat ( installed in bad weather ) friendly and knowledgeable. The quality of their work was excellent and you can see they put pride in their work. Service was covered under the contract but they had the nerve to charge $900 for ONE HOUR of labor (which took 30 minutes)! So we have been long term client's with Sunray for years on contract. They have different contract levels with varying levels of benefits. I have to say that before February of 2022 we have never had an issue with Sunray. Everyone has been professional, service was prompt and excellent, prices were average. We knew we needed a new central AC system this year. In February we called Sunray to get a quote on the job. It was reasonable, they could do the install the following week and gave a discount for doing it off season. Install day, we advise that we have animals and we that clean up following the work was important to us. Turns out they shipped the wrong unit and after a half a day of work, they just packed up and left with nothing more than a "wrong unit sent, they will call you with info on when they right unit will be in". Gone before I could even check the worksite as I was working. Went to the basement, place was a mess, shards of sheet metal, sheet metal screws, insulation, some sort of fluid spill, and a 1 inch wide open hole to the outside where the waste water drain would go. Did I mention this was February and the job was $10,000. I called the office to complain, poor woman who works here has to be done having to take all the complaints that the manager won't take. I feel bad telling her like it is (today was the third time) but someone has to hear this. Told them the worksite was left a mess with sharp objects on the floor as well as the hole in the foundation that was not plugged up. The manager called me back, apologized for the lack of cleanup, and the immediate bail out of his staff, and that the new unit would be in on X date. I asked if anyone was going to come back and seal the hole leaking 15F degree air into my basement. No, sorry can't do that. Went out and stuck a gym sock in there. Seriously. X day arrives. no one calls. no one shows. Finally I call them, the office woman says, oh the manager didn't call you. Nope. dead silence. So finally he calls back in the afternoon and says, oh the unit won't be in until tomorrow. He didn't seem to think the lack of communication was a problem. It was at this point that I really regretted our decision. Gym sock was still holding out the air. They show up the next day, clean up the mess. Finish the job. Manager tells me I'm sending in my "A" Team. Wow, I'm feeling special at this point. They finish the job. I look the site around. It was clear of sharp objects, though I am still finding stray sheet metal screws to this day. As they were leaving I see sunlight still streaming in from the water drain hole in the foundation. I asked, you guys going to caulk up that hole already? Oh yeah, I'll take care of that was the response. So install done, we're told ok when it gets warm, call us and we'll add the refrigerant because the system only comes with a small amount from the factory. Ok, warm weather hits, call them to come out and load the refrigerant, can't get there till later in the week. This is a newly installed unit we say, this is the final part of the install. Nope, it's a start up they say. More back and forth with the manager. Someone comes by and adds the refrigerant. Did a great job, professional and actually apologetic. Must have been an old hand with them. He did say that we may need to get the level of refrigerant when it gets hot. Well guess what happened today, it got hot. The AC stopped pumping cool air. Called, begged, asked if they could just check to see if it needed a top off of refrigerant and if it was anything more than that, we'd wait. No dice. They refused to do anything for us even as long time customers, gold contract holders, and recent $10,000 customers. Nice eh? I get that its the friday of July 4th weekend, BUT, you are an HVAC company. One that shows prominently as soon as you search for a 24/7 emergency service HVAC company - now that is an insult on top of injury. So odds on us reupping our contact? Probably as high as them showing up today. Highly disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. I would avoid at all costs at the present level of service, communication and professionalism. To the poor woman taking all sorts of verbal abuse in the office, unless you are related to the owners/manager - go get yourself a job at a better company. The worst company I have ever dealt with, mis-diagnosed a cooling issue, changed parts ($2K) parts & labor, problem STILL exists on 3 splits since 2021, apparently there is a leak they can't figure out, put a dye in 2021, now they want to charge me again to fix the problem as if it's a new one. I called them when my heat went out? They sent a tentation that striped some screws on my unit and said someone else would need to come back tomorrow. The next day after paying $412.0 to come they said it would be $750 to fix it. They said that included a few of $260 to replace the screws that they broke. The $250 service call to Sun Ray to fix our Rheem Central air conditioner was a complete waste of money. The service man quickly looked at our machine and told us why it would take many weeks to get the parts, although they advertise that they have them in stock. He then tried to convince to buy an entirely new Bosch unit that would be not just for the air conditioner, but a replacement for our heating system, which we absolutely did not need. We tried to get information on just an air-condition system, but the most they would offer as to install the cooling AND heating unit, but not connect the heating unit. Why spend all that extra money? They were not interested in repairs, just sales. read more

"24 hr service". I called this company(before reading reviews) about my HVAC system that was leaking through the ceiling. I told them I needed immediate service and to send someone early in the morning to repair the leak. They said they would call me early in the morning to send someone. Luckily I called another company just in case. Never got that call back from this company. I later read the reviews and it made sense. They're very irresponsible and unreliable. read more

I called them and before they came I asked them how much they charge. It was $150.00 an hour . I agreed . They were here for a little over two hours . I got a bill for $950.00. They are very dishonest and nasty . I tried to talk to the owner . He said it was an emergency. No emergency! think twice about using them. They are not an honable company to deal with. We recently moved into our new house and had Eric from Sunray come by and give us an estimate on replacing the Central A/C system. Since we also have electric heat he recommended an upgrade to a heat pump as well. When we decided to go with Sunray they scheduled our install within a couple of days. When it came time for our installation the guys were extremely polite and respectful. Some of the installers were; Felix, Omar and Jayshawn. Had my 3 ton central A/C swapped out last month after my original (Sunray-installed) system reached retirement age. The VP of the company, Eric Haft, visited my home, worked out a great quote and, within a week, Felix, Jay and Joey installed my new Rheem system in about 3 hours. They took care to cover my flooring as they went in and out. Took away all the old equipment (from the attic to the outside compressor). I am so happy with the service I received. My water heater failed overnight, woke up to flood and of course no hot water. I called Sunray at 7am and their service answered and took my information. I got a call back right away and had a tech at my house before 9am! Got a very reasonable quote and due to my situation, they were able to fit me in and they started the job not more than 2 hours later. By mid afternoon all was done and working perfectly. HORRIBLE. Do not use this company. They charged for a maintenance contract on a GAS BOILER, which has not maintenance. When asked to show up for a repair, they could not show up timely and when they did, they said they did not know anything about the boiler we had (even though they contracted for it) and would get back to us. If you schedule maintenance or a repair, good luck. They cancel repeatedly, over and over. Truly the worst service company you could use. read more

Called this company for emergency service - we had no heat. Oil in tank, burner nor firing. It was a Saturday and snowing. I called because the ad stipulated emergency service, and I was willing to pay the additional costs involved. The fellow that answered the emergency call told us to call another company, he was not going out in the snow. Very nasty! Not recommended at all. read more

Wish I had read the reviews before calling this company. Like other reviews say, they don't itemize the bill and charge $229 just to walk in your house. The problem turned out to be an $11 water line that needed to be switched out on my humidifier. Job takes 5 minutes on you tube video. Charged me $352. When I realized all this I tried to cancel and at least only be out the $229. They refused and said I'd be charged the whole amount because they ordered the part. Why don't businesses learn that the way to build a clientele is to be fair and charge HONEST prices. Call someone else. read more

Usually these guys are great but they just lost a lot of respect from me (and maybe my contract renewal), we have had a yearly service contract with them every year since we got the central AC unit in our home. I called yesterday that AC had gone out - talked to a woman and she said that they would send someone from 8 am to 1 pm. I called at 1 when no one had showed up. They had no idea who I was, it felt like my name never made it on the list. The woman on the phone says that I was now in the 1 - 6 pm service window. No explanation no apology !!!! I asked to be put first in the 1 - 6 pm window and she tells me that it does not work like that (nice right?). Then she tells me that they are down two techs for the day (totally understandable) but didn't they know that at 8 am this morning and why not notify all the clients waiting on the list. Ridiculous that people that you pay a yearly service contact to would treat a loyal long paying customers this way. read more

After my electricity came back on after the recent storm I had no A/C. Called Sunray who diagnosed it as a blown circuit board in the furnace. Took out a service contract for 345, All parts were under warranty and they wanted $1100. to replace the circuit board which the technician told me would take an hour. Called Gallett Air in W. Babylon. They diagnosed the same thing and recommended replacing the motor as well. All parts still covered under warranty and they're charging me $475. to install both circuit board and motor. And that's without a service contract! Called Sunray back and whoever answered said that their fee is their fee. Rarely do I write a post like this but just felt I had to this time. Wished I had read all the negative one star reviews first before calling Sunray! read more

I cant say enough about Sunray Services. I reside in a condo with all electric heat. My Heating/AC ran continuouly and our electric bills were through the roof. I knew I needed a new unit. The salesman Eric showed up, assessed and suggested I go with a high efficiency unit which I did. My bills immediately were cut into 3rd. We had rebates and incentives for the purchase which drove the price of the unit down too. Needless to say this new unit works great and keeps our home nice and cozy on the coldest days and real cool in the summer. Sunrays service remains unsurpassed with yearly servicing. Their service men are always neat and curteous. I give them 5 out of 5 stars. read more

You may not have heard of these guys, they are not the biggest on Long Island but they are reliable and honest. Had a big problem with my air conditioning. I called, they came over and took care of the problem. These guys were fabulous. No run around, no up-sell -- straight forward and all fixed. During a heatwave my central air conditioner stopped working. I had used Sunray in the past but that was long ago. Service technician arrive promptly and was professional. He diagnosed a blown fan motor. He said the office would schedule the follow up service. I paid $249. The next morning I spoke with someone in the office who said the project still needs to be priced out. She wasn't sure if it would be priced out that day. I waited until the afternoon to ask for an update. I was told they were still waiting for a project cost. I persisted and put me on hold. I was then given an outrageous quote without a commitment that they could secure the need part. I had to call Air Max to schedule service. Airmax arrived the next morning and made the repair for $600 less. I strongly recommend Air Max. read more
