I was a repeat and return customer for many years until this. Car was in the shop over 8 days. When i dropped it off it was cranking and would Not start. Was told it was a electrical wiring harness underneath the dashboard. Was told they were bringing in a " specialist" At this point I realized I was getting the run around. I asked to have my car put back into the same condition as it was given and I would have a tow truck tow it elsewhere. DAN THE manager, rude, arrogant, and unprofessional, became irate that I choose not to have them continue after 8 days.... My vehicle would not turn over and crank? I have no power anywhere in the vehicle. They completely tore apart my dash board and returned it looking like it was stolen. DAN the manager charged me nearly $600 dollars, returning my vehicle in worse shape than it was. I will be disputing with my Credit card company. I will never return again. This place is absolutely terrible. Last year I brought in my car to have the AC looked at and they replaced a filter and recharged the fluid costing me $500. Having brought it in AGAIN for an AC fix they now realized there is a leak and the parts and labor would cost $1000 and this was no guarantee to fix the issue. When I came to pick up my car, having told them to NOT fix the car, they charged me a 'diagnostic' fee of $60. Just so they could recoup a little money from me. How pathetic. Never going back there again. Stay away if you want your car actually replaced properly. read more

So, I am not sure how many of these reviews are legitimate and how many are just paid for, but I literally live up the hill from this shop on High St. In the past, I have used their services and they would call and discuss pricing with you, before making a repair. I dropped my car off for a TPMS sensor replacement. Mind you, I have a TMPS reactivation tool and knew exactly that it was my right rear tire that had the faulty sensor in it. This is a job in which you: break the seal on the tire, unscrew the old sensor, screw back in the new sensor, and re-inflate the tire, then you used the reactivation tool to "train" the tires back to the system. My expectation was that I would drop my truck off (I had made an appointment the week before) and that it would take about an hour and be about $100. TMPS sensors (even FORD parts) are only $35. I was charged $80. The labor cost was $108 for what I just described, something that takes about a half hour with the right lift and tools. They kept my car for three hours. This repair literally cost double what it was supposed too and took twice as long as it should have. There is always an "Andover Tax" as we call it our house. Vendors charge more when you live in this town because they all suffer from the delusion that everyone in town is super rich and we are literally too stupid to look up the price of parts on the internet. Just had my 2018 AUDI Q5 inspected at this station. They failed it because they said that the front side window tint was too dark. I bought this car used from an AUDI dealership 2 years ago, who inspected and passed the vehicle when I bought it. The car was also inspected last year elsewhere, prior to this time and passed. I have done nothing to the windows. I asked the owner, 'What do I do now?" He actually said, "Lady, this is no big deal. You have 60 days to get if fixed." Since the sticker had a very big RED 'R' across it, I called the local police department to check if this was really 'no big deal'. The police said that information was completely wrong! He confirmed that the car is now completely illegal to drive, and it should have been towed home or to another garage after failing for SAFETY reasons. Doing a bit of research, and also by calling the dealership where I bought the car, I am told that the inspectors have discretion as to what they can fail, if they so want to. They asked me 'What was the Tint-Meter reading?' The Shawsheen inspection station did not provide such information to me, and on the Failed Report, no such reading was added to the form. The dealership suggested I take the car to another inspector for a second opinion. I did this today, and the very same windows passed the Tint-Meter test (see photos). They suggested I call DMV to report this inspection station. I spoke with a person who told me to fill out a complaint form and send in photos. She said it is really important to register complaints like this. Passing this on so others may register complaints, and opt to take your vehicle elsewhere, especially if you have tinted windows. Suggest avoiding this station for inspections altogether. read more

"I went in to have my vehicle inspected only to have the mechanic return telling me I had "MAJOR" problems. The car failed due to an exhaust leak and the e-brakes inability to hold at 1500 RPM." That was a quote from a google review. The SAME EXACT thing just happened to me. He also failed me for safety because he claimed i had no seatbelts in the backseat of my car. I DO. They were just tucked into the seats- he could have easily pulled them out! All Emissions completely passed. He also wrote my headlights were an issue because they weren't polished. The car is a 2002! I can see completely fine at night with the headlights. The owner was extremely nice and we chatted for a bit. The mechanic who inspected my car is unbelievable. Don't waste your time or money with getting an inspection here. read more

Terrible customer service. Came for inspection and was told there were 3 others ahead. Went to lunch came back and the person right before me was being helped. Another customer walks in and obviously knows the guy at counter. He tells him he'll see what they can do. Sure enough he goes right in next... keys are even laid out in a queue and he just skips right over me. I was on tight schedule politely asked if there was a reason I was skipped as I noticed new customers going ahead. Guy clearly knew he was in wrong but decided to bullshit and tell me that he was there first... which takes an amazing amount of balls considering I was 3 feet from him when he told the guy he'd see what he could do... I let em know I saw the guy come in and he goes full rage mode screaming about being busy and walks out of the office. I don't really care if you are doing a solid for buddy or maybe long term customer. But don't give me crap for asking how long it's really gunna be. If their work is half as bad as their excuses then I'd avoid em. read more

I live in elderly housing and Sunoco is convenient as I can get there to drop off/pick by the bus, as do my neighbors. I am 80 and drive an older car as we all do here. After several years of getting an inspection there, the last time they threw my trunk stuff around and took off the clear license plate covers. I put them on to protect the plates from the car wash which has crumbled them before. The last time I was there waiting for inspection, an elderly lady walked in with a scratched up hub cap. Mr. Dalton bent over backwards to fit her in right away. He routinely dismisses us residents with older cars - he just doesn't want to deal with us. WE PAY OUR BILLS! The last time I brought the car in for a check engine light, he called me to come get it. When I took the bus to get there. he immediately went into a tirade about how it took him 1/2 hr. to open the hood. What he didn't know was that I had been in there that very morning and one of his minions took a look and opened it right up. Then he went on to say my turbo was shot and it would cost $2000 at the dealer to fix it. He charged me $95 just to open the hood which noone has ever had a problem with except him. Didn't believe him. so I went to Henrys down the street and he totally fixed it with a new fuel filter. $100! That was two years ago and I've had no problem with the vehicle since. My neighbors have had similar experiences there. I guess if you don't have "Andover Clout" which I should have since i've lived here all my life don't waste your time and money with this guy. I hate to say it because Henry is always so busy and I don't want to add to his load thereby making me wait longer for service, but DONT GO TO SUNOCO! Rating - 0 read more

I am recommending this business based first on an observation and then on subsequent service on my car. I had been there a couple of times just for inspection (always went fine in terms of turn around, etc). One time I was sitting in the office waiting for my car to be inspected and an older woman came in and said her AC was not working. The owner went out to the car and came back to say "well, it is blowing cold air for me, so let me show you how to set it." A less honest person could have made a fair bit of money. Right then I decided to give him my business when any repairs came up. Have not been disappointed since over several minor and more major repairs to my car. read more

I am pretty disturbed at the experience I had tonight at this gas station. I stopped by about 10 minutes before they closed for the night, as I needed gas and air in my tires before a long drive. I didn't know what time they closed, but they were doing some cleaning up when I arrived. The young man who came to pump my gas was polite and helpful and I asked him if they were still open for a bit. He said yes and that they were just starting to clean up for the night but I had plenty of time. I asked for $20 in gas and if I could use the air machine after, which was self service. He said yes and told me where it was. Once I had paid for my gas, I noticed the air hose had been put away. I asked to still use it and was told they already put it away. I informed him that I had a long way to drive and that I was having trouble with the air in my tires off and on and I really needed to put a little air in. He said my tires looked fine and that it had already been put away. I told him again that my low air light was on and that I had a long drive, and did not feel safe leaving without adding some air. He went inside to talk to the other worker who had put the air machine away, and I drove over to where I would be able to use the hose. He came back over, tapped on my window and said it was too late and that it already been locked up. I asked him if he knew where there was another place nearby that I could get air, because I was very concerned about getting stranded on the highway in the winter at night. He told me he did not know of any other place nearby and that I definitely could not use the air hose. Being a woman at night, and also having a disability, it is not a nice feeling to feel like you may break down at any moment and that the place where you just spent money on gas doesn't really seem to care. Although my disabilities are invisible, I actually had my handicap placard displayed on my rearview mirror at the time. I ended up having to keep driving into downtown Lawrence to a closed gas station in the dark to use their air machine. When I did so, I found that the air in all four of my tires was extremely low. I really feel disturbed that I was sent on into the night and into a less than safe area to try to find air for my tires, and ended up feeling very uncomfortable pumping air while alone without very much light. It seems like common courtesy to let somebody put air into the tires while the gas station is still open and they have just patronized the gas station. Never mind the fact that a woman, especially with disabilities is not going to want to be stranded and or alone in the dark in the cold. I am feeling upset at the fact that I was out in this position. A business is either open or closed, and customers need to be given what is promised. I also think some humanity is missing when we care more about a perceived inconvenience than someone's safety. read more

I arrived at the station at 5:01 pm Sunday night and the employees refused to pump fuel. There were two cars being fueled when they turned me away . I try to support locally owned businesses, but there needs to be a little flexibility. Too bad Sunoco Shawsheen doesn't want my business, I won't be stopping in there again. read more

Recently moved to Andover and have been searching for a new garage to have our cars serviced at. A friend recommended the Shawsheen Sunoco so we tried it out. Their service and attention to detail were amazing, having had work done elsewhere I feel they did great work (front brakes) and charged a very reasonable price. Extremely trustworthy, so much so that my wife's minivan went in the same week to check on unusual noises from the left front. Again, they were very attentive and only charged a minimal fee for labor. I highly recommend them. The only thing that keeps me from giving them the full 5 stars is that they don't do repair/garage work on Saturday which isn't terrible. read more

One star is a gift for this sorry excuse of a service station. Possibly the worst customer service I have ever received. I went in for an State Inspection Sticker and was told it would be no more than a 5 minute wait due to the guys being on lunch break. Alright, fine it was around lunch time. I was the only customer in the place and had to wait over an hour for my car to be taken back. After they completed the inspection the mechanic came around and told me the drive train was off and it would need to be fixed prior to him giving me a sticker. I told him I had the car checked on last month and nothing like that came up. The mechanic then proceeds to inform me that if I just agreed to have the work done at the shop he would give me the sticker. I refused and told him if it was okay for a sticker then I shouldn't have to have the work done. I will be bringing my business elsewhere and advise all those who read this to do the same. read more

Mind you they are factory tints. Very rude and treated me different because I am a minority. Do not recommend. Sad that people will treat a paying customer with total disrespect. read more

This is probably the best gas station I've been to. I work in the area and get filled up regularly and also get my oil changes done here. It's a full service gas station, but unlike most full service stations they are always very attentive and meet you at your window. There is no waiting for someone to get to you, they're ready. I usually make an appointment for an oil change a day in advance but its not always necessary, they offer to do it on the spot if they have time. I'm in and out within half an hour. Everyone is extremely friendly, every time. Very pleased. read more

Let me start by saying that there should be a NO STARS option as the customer service my father and I received at this location was horrid. My father had gone in earlier in the week to get my inspection sticker for my 2011 camry thinking I'd be a quick thing. Let me tell you that my dad is a US citizen who speaks broken English. He came furious at the fact that they had rejected my car due to "illegal tints". He had felt as he was brushed aside and even offended because of his broken English and how the employee was talking down to him. Enraged I went back there on my next day to talk to the gentlemen and find out why my car had been rejected. I explained to the a hole that my car was purchased brand new and when I purchased it I has requested IRA Toyota to legally tint my windows. In the past 3 years I have never had an issue with my inspection sticker and why all of a sudden my tints where an issue. I understand that we need to keep up with the law however 35% is legal for state of mass . He went and showed me his machine and went straight for my rear windows and scanned 32%. I then asked him to scan the fronts as per state of mass is what is legal. It came back 35%. He gave me some poor excuse that they must all be legal. I then went and pointed at a a Jeep outside who's windows looks darker than mine and he had just approved an inspections sticker for. Clearly we felt as this was an act of racial profiling due to our ethnic background. Then we belive the "owner" came by and checked up on things and heard the debate so decided to walk away. COWARD. Give me the respect as the customer as to why I was having a difficult time getting my inspection sticker. This was a horrible experience but gets even worse. I take my car to Trombleys in North Andover who gave me phenomenon customer service. I told them my story and before pulling my car into the bay he grabbed his scanner and scanned both my windows. Rear scanning at 38 and front at 41. This explains why I have never had an issue with my tints inn the past because they are LEGAL!!! Maybe sunoco needs to get with the times. Learn about customer service. And keep their equipment up to date as this could lead to further legal action. I am disgusted with this place and would never recommend this place. read more

Worst mechanics around! Went in for an inspection sticker and was rejected for lower ball joints. Left my car there for them to fix, picked it up the next day only to find out that the mechanics broke the brake sensor. Brought it back to them again, the manager told me they fixed it but the VSA light was still on meaning it wasn't fixed. He told me that he couldn't fix it and that I need to bring it to the dealer. Brought it to Acura dealer and they told me that the mechanics didn't know what they were doing. Was fixed at the dealer, so I brought my paid receipt back to Sunoco to the same manager who told me to bring it to the dealer. I asked for a credit for a free oil change in exchange and he wasn't willing because he stated "We didn't do anything wrong"...well, they broke my car and wouldn't make it right. Way to run a business. Would have given less than one star if it was possible. read more
