4.5 rounding up. I treated myself to breakfast here after a morning lab appointment. Seating is choose your own, which I appreciate. I was then promptly greeted and given the current menu. I chose the 17.99 salmon eggs Benedict and 2.99 bottomless coffee. The server patiently explained and described the options for the included side (French fries, home fries, grilled potatoes, or cole slaw.) I would have liked a hash brown style option but this was not available. My server then asked how I like to take my coffee and returned with only cream as I asked. The sugar packets are already on the table with the assorted jam ones. There were no napkins apart from the one wrapped around the cutlery but luckily I was able to make do with the one provided. My server was attentive without being obtrusive. She and the cook handled almost everything in the restaurant, and one staff seemed to be designated for prepping and maintaining the cutlery station. There was a steady stream of customers and I was able to savour and enjoy my meal. The music volume was mid range, enough to mostly cover other conversations but not jarring. There doesn't appear to be any Wi-Fi for customers. No signs anywhere and the network needed a password which definitely was not made readily available. Overall I really enjoyed my treat. At over $27 with taxes and tip it's more than we pay for an extra large pizza with 3 pop, but it was certainly warranted. The fries were fresh and hot, crispy and fluffy. I appreciated the slice of melon to start. The spinach was fresh and not overcooked. The salmon or perhaps the poaching water seemed to give a very slight vinegary taste in there somewhere, but I was super pleased about the restrained use of salt on everything. I could enjoy the taste of the spinach, yolks, and fries without the usual greasy spoon, saline filter. It's like eating at a diner only much better! They do offer wraps, burgers, etc. I would definitely look forward to trying them next time I'm in the plaza. 2 high thumbs up! read more

Visiting the area for the Rogers Cup tennis tournament at York University and decided to venture out of the hotel (and away from the overpriced buffet) for breakfast. This little diner in the front of a small plaza a couple of blocks away from the tournament was a great find! Thank you Yelp! Nothing fancy here. Just a nice little dinner with modest furnishings, clean environment and a very friendly server (young lady with purple hair.) The menu is basic breakfast and lunch... I was delighted to find a Monte Cristo sandwich with home fries on the menu. A rare find at most restaurants and possibly the best I've had... Not fancy but a perfect blend of French toast, Swiss cheese and ham. Absolutely loved it! Not much more to say really... A great choice for a reasonably priced breakfast, friendly service and yummy food. Give them a try if you find yourself in the area. read more

My husband and I had eaten at the Sunnyside Grill on St. Clair West innumerable times when we lived near there. Now that we're closer to this location, on Steeles near Keele, we decided to give it a try. The server was very nice if slow and/or inattentive (10-minute wait for a coffee refill!), but the serving size was appallingly tiny. For a healthy breakfast, I ordered avocado smash (or whatever they call it) and got two pieces of buttered toast, two of the smallest eggs ever laid by a chicken, and 2 tablespoons of smashed avocado. I cannot imagine how that should cost $10.49! Compare to my husband's Biggie Breakfast that, at $15.99, included three eggs, two pieces of ham, two strips of bacon, two sausage, potatoes and French toast! Seems like their prices are out of whack. Added note: Coffee is $2.99, but in our nearly one hour there, I only managed to get the server's attention for two refills... and my husband's $2.49 pop was one can of pop. This has to be one of the best diners around! Angel (if I'm not mistaken), the server is incredibly upbeat and friendly. She makes eating in that much more pleasant. She was super busy with serving dine in customers, but was also dealing with take out orders and Uber Eats! And yet, she managed to keep that lovely smile. I'm thinking they have regulars who call in...yes I was eaves dropping...she recognized customers over the phone!! The food -- deeeeelish! Nothing bad to say about it. I had their standard 2 eggs, breakfast meat (sausage in my case), home fries and toast. I don't normally eat the home fries in general, but these ones were perfect! Beverage wise, I just had an ice cold water. I would definitely come here again! Maybe in another two weeks when I have another day off!! Go here everyone! read more

I'm pretty sure I cleaned my plate; I do tend to eat a lot so it was inevitable, but nevertheless just having such an amazing time while visiting friends in the area. This is by far my favorite breakfast spot in toronto. I discovered this restaurant about a month ago and since that day i come almost everyday to try a new breakfast that they offer. As soon as u walk through the entrance, u r welcomed with a big smile from the staff. The colours and the whole decoration theme are very vibrant and colourful which instantly elavate ur mood as soon as u walk in. As for the food, it has a homemade taste to it which is something that a lot of restaurants lack here in toronto (at least in my opinion). The protions are huge in the breakfast menu. The prices are decent for the amount of food u get. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking to start his day with a tasty breakfast. read more

Before work this morning we decided we were going to try this spot out. Bright colours and an extremely warming atmosphere is what we walked into. Greeted by two different people and they were so happy (which was a refreshing thought because some places you can tell when the people dont want to be at work). I had the grilled cheese with jalapenos with chips and le boyfriend had the breakfast with a pancake. EVERYTHING tasted amazing, definitely a spot I would recommend (and i have been) if you are ever in the area. This place is definitely a dive but, the service is fantastic. Came here for brunch with a friend and got a table right away. It's basically seat yourself. While there was a lot of turnover, there was never a line. The tables were a little sticky but the waitress did wipe it down after we sat down. I appreciated that she was happy, enthusiastic and made sure we had our coffee/tea from the get go. Food wise, it was okay. Definitely looked and tasted like your typical kitchen breakfast. There wasn't anything special about the flavour or the appearance of the food - other than the hash being burnt. I liked that they had a variety of bread to choose from but, would have liked it more if it wasn't so crunchy. We found this place on yelp. We were looking for a place before a hockey game- town for the weekend for a hockey tournament. Service 5 stars. Food clean and tasty. I ordered the special: eggs white omelette with spinach feta mushroom. I also love pancakes so like to judge it at every breakfast place. I ordered 1 pancake on the side. I should have ordered more! Great food and service! eggs and pancakes were really tasty and the smoothie was great aswell.

Was fairly busy when we arrived so service was pretty slow. When we asked the waitress to order drinks first she was fairly rude that we didn't know what food we wanted yet. When we were ready to order food she asked if we were finally ready to order. Our food took very long to come. We had ordered a fruit bowl that hadn't arrived with our main courses, I asked her about it and she rudely said it was coming. Once we received it I noticed there was mold in it. When I finally let the waitress know - which took 5 minutes to finally get her attention. She said oh okay, and didn't show any concern for it. She then asked (after taking it back) if we wanted a new one. We declined. When we were done our meals, we sat there for over 10 minutes waiting for our plates to be cleared. She didn't even have the decency to check up on us. She then gave us the bill before clearing our plates. There were no apologies for the mold in our food, and the service was adequate at best. I don't usually post reviews but after dining here I really had to. I came here around Tuesday morning and our server Angel made our meal an amazing experienced. I've never had such an amazing and attentive server at any restaurant until Sunnyside Grill. She had a very bright and positive attitude! I ordered the Classic BLT and my boyfriend ordered the Traditional Breakfast and in addition we ordered the Belgium Waffle to share. The Classic BLT and Traditional Breakfast tasted about how you would expect it to be but the Belgium Waffle was amazing. Angel included a special strawberry compote on the house for use to taste and that really brought the waffles to another level. I highly recommend getting the strawberry compote with an order of pancakes or waffles. Overall good food amazing service. I would come back just to have Angel as a server again in all honesty! read more

Looked good after searching for a breakfast place near Keele and Steeles. Ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich. The bagel was moldy with visible mould. Can't understand how a restaurant can serve, or even keep a bagel on the shelf after it's gone bad. I keep reliving that sight, which makes me sick every time I think of it. Your experience there may be better or worse. Why take the chance? Who knows what else has gone bad and served to customers that can't be easily noticed.
