I'm really surprised at the reviews and the low rating score that they currently have. Walked right in with family and was greeted warmly by the owner. Th Gelato is amazing and so was the service ! Thank you sunny Daes I'm from NYC and would visit again

Vanilla Soft Serve Yogurt

I went here last night near closing with my friend Chris and they were kind of enough to still serve us. He got a strawberry Ice cream and I got vanilla soft serve yogurt w/rainbow ice cream in a wafer cone both tasted delicious. The place was very clean and great spot if we wanted to stay and enjoy it. Will return.

Small soft serve twist

We stopped in after dinner while in the area. It was fairly crowded but efficient! I have an egg allergy and was able to eat their soft serve safely. Not crazy exciting but decent ice cream!

Had the coffee ice cream sundae with Oreos and hot fudge, which was creamy and good. Very nice ambiance on a summer day, went at around 8pm and was still pretty busy.

Huge ice cream and gelato selection. Everything was absolutely delicious. Very creamy gelatos. The staff was friendly and patient with us as well as other customers who took a bit longer to decide. Great atmosphere with some outside seating as well!

disclaimer: the following review was written by two college girls who take their ice cream very seriously!!!! if you like incredibly detailed ice cream reviews then read on: sunny dae's ice cream: * location: not super cute place, but easily accessible. easy to find as well, since it is on the main road. also has a lot of outdoor seating * aesthetic: love the logo! the inside was very retro, it gave us 90s vibes. they also had some cool decorations. * quality: good, it doesn't taste like grocery store ice cream, but was kind of freezer burnt. it's not bad for a small shop. (do they make their ice cream?) * menu: not easily found and read. there were a lot of flavors, but we didn't get a chance to see them all. some of them looked interesting, but nothing crazy. we did LOVE the chocolate brownie flavor. * price: not great. it's kind of expensive for ice cream that isn't really worth it. the cups serving was more generous than the cone. erin got more in a small cup than kayla did in a medium cone. total score: 7/10, adjusted for yelp to 3.5/5

This "large" gelato will set you back $6.75
Caren K.

I will preface this by saying, men are stupid. My boyfriend and I walked in and the place smelled like disinfectant. My boyfriend kept saying he wanted gelato. He wanted nothing to do with 16 handles down the street. Ok buddy. "Large" gelato? $6.75 I went down the street to 16 handles and he ended up filling up a cup and admitting his stupidity. He ended up paying the same amount but with toppings and different flavors. The gelato wasn't terrible, it was just ok, but at the price they charge it should be outstanding.

Absolutely fantastic place. What a way to end my week! Milkshakes were delicious and thick, along with quick, friendly, service. Very clean and convenient place. Highly recommend!!

Small vanilla milkshake $5 (hard ice cream)

This place is good. They are always open even during the winter. I'm pretty sure they are open until about 11 so getting a late night ice cream is easy. The store itself is usually very clean and the employees are pretty nice. I don't order crazy ice creams or crazy flavors so I'm not sure how their selection varies but, everything looks delicious. I always get a small vanilla milkshake ($5.00) which i find to be a little expensive but, I get hard ice cream as opposed to soft serve. The ice cream is good but, $5 for plain ice cream without toppings or anything else is a little pricy. The small is a decent size though so at least you don't feel totally ripped off. All and all I enjoy the quality of their ice cream (super duper creamy) Service is usually pretty fast. Unless you order something complicated.

Best ice cream option on Rt 1 now that Gofer has long since closed. Flavors are ok but toppings are great - including marshmallow.

I love it here. My husband and I split our time between Stamford and Forest Hills, Queens. And if…read moreyou love rich, decadent, sublime Ice Cream, this is an excellent place! My husband is a lifelong Connecticut resident and a hardcore Ice Cream aficionado. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but will oblige him EVERY..SINGLE...TIME.. he wants to make an Ice Cream run as we don't have various, nor delicious Ice Cream spots in our part of Queens, sadly. I highly recommend it as it's rich, flavorful, definitely trendy as it was packed and everyone was posting Lives of their ice cream trip We cannot wait to return next season with our littles

Not the same as it used to be. Doubt I'll go back. Not sure what happened, but they don't have the…read moreliquid nitrogen going when you walk in. The ice cream is premade like a normal place. It's not unique anymore. One of the draws of going here was to walk in and see all the liquid nitrogen and making the ice cream. It's just not fun anymore. Also, they served my bubble cone in a plastic cup? That was weird. The inside is also in need of attention. The lighting was dim and it was pretty dirty in there if you stand and look around. It's like it hasn't been deep cleaned in 10 years. There's also no restroom! People seemed nice to us. I won't complain about them. It seems like a lot of kids working, to be expected. It's basically a fast food ice cream chain so what can be expected. The real issue is, they need a manager there running the ship. The crew was all over the place when I was there. They kept looking at the order receipts, running around chaotically. Asking each other questions etc. I think they need a boss or someone there that can help the crew out with direction. I think lack of management was the issue. I recommend spending your money elsewhere. Go find a mom and pop place nearby. This place is just not as "cool" as it once was.
