What happened over the next several days was completely unacceptable. On his first day, he was not given a shower or an examination. His pain medication was not given in a timely manner and was sometimes hours late. Even worse, throughout his entire stay, no one came to assist him with using the restroom. For someone recovering from surgery and sent to a rehabilitation facility specifically because they need additional care and assistance, I find that absolutely inexcusable. I spoke with a supervisor, Jojo, about the problems with his pain medication and the lack of assistance. When I called my grandfather on August 12, the same problems were still happening, and he STILL had not started physical therapy. At this point, my grandfather was already fed up with the facility. I convinced him to give me an opportunity to go there myself and speak with staff in person before we made the decision to remove him. On August 13, I went to the facility and again spoke with Jojo because, quite frankly, she seemed like one of the only people there actually doing work. I specifically explained that my grandfather needed to start physical therapy, needed a shower, and needed his pain medication on time. She appeared surprised when I told her that he had received neither physical therapy nor a shower since arriving. I was assured these things would be addressed. While I was there, I was also extremely unimpressed with the condition of the grounds. The property looked dirty and poorly maintained, with dying plants and an overall neglected appearance. I learned that the property apparently used to be an orphanage, and unfortunately the entire place gave me the feeling of a place where forgotten people are sent and left behind. After watching how my grandfather was treated, that feeling only became stronger. On August 14, he FINALLY received a physical therapy session, three days after arriving. However, he still had not received a shower, still was not receiving assistance with the restroom, and was still having problems receiving his pain medication on time. I texted Jojo and told her that I would be removing him from the facility the following day. At that point I was no longer willing to keep giving the facility chances to provide the level of basic care that should have been happening from the beginning. Only after I complained again by text was he offered a shower, close to 6 p.m. He declined because of how late it was. His pain medication issues were also continuing. Once I made it clear that we were removing him, I suddenly began receiving calls from higher-ups. By then, it was too late. I had already raised these concerns repeatedly and had also contacted his insurance case manager. The final experience on August 15 made an already terrible situation even worse. My husband went to pick up my grandfather as we had already told the facility we were going to do. According to my husband, the head nurse (a tall woman with brown hair and glasses) yelled at him, berated and belittled him, and even accused him of stealing a wheelchair THAT WE BROUGHT WITH US. She then loudly talked about my husband to another nurse in the hallway. The behavior he described was shockingly unprofessional and completely inappropriate for someone working in healthcare. Maybe she was possessed by a ghost of one of the bratty children from the orphanage. I was later told that she behaved this way because we were taking my grandfather out against medical advice. That does not excuse her behavior whatsoever. If the facility was so concerned about his medical well-being, that concern should have been demonstrated through timely medication, assistance with basic needs, hygiene, rehabilitation, and attentive care from DAY ONE. You cannot repeatedly fail to meet someone's needs and then suddenly act outraged when their family decides enough is enough. What makes this even more frustrating is that this nurse reportedly claimed she did not know about my grandfather's condition, yet suddenly had plenty to say and had plenty of questions when we were removing him. My husband asked when my grandfather had last received his pain medication and was not given an answer. He also requested aftercare paperwork and was not provided with it. Thankfully, my grandfather's case manager through his insurance helped us get everything sorted out afterward. We gave this facility multiple opportunities to correct these problems. We spoke with staff, raised concerns repeatedly, went there in person, followed up again, and involved his case manager. Removing him was not some impulsive decision. It happened after several days of watching the same basic care issues continue despite repeated complaints and assurances that they would be addressed.

This building may be a bit older, but it is very clean. Everyone here is super nice and helpful. I am so sad that it only a short term care facility, as I would love be to keep my mother here long term as my mother seems happier and healthier. I walked towards the front desk and two male patients had been fighting, shouting and screaming. I was escorted to my friend's room and the assistant was attempting to get ABC on the TV, with no avail. The bathroom was for 6 rooms, no locks, toilets too low. My friend's sister-In-law stepped on 2 roaches and at that moment we all decided to leave because this is not a recovery facility it's a death facility. Every time some enters or exits an alarm goes off. Flies were also observed looking for food to eat. The staff were very nice in spite of the condition of the facility. This is not a place where a Veteran should be sent.

The hospital is working to get him out, the hospice company was working to find something, and The Bradley Gardens was the first place that had a bed available. So, he was transferred there site unseen. When my mother and I arrived, I took a deep breath as I pulled into the parking lot, and thought.... okay, this is only temporary. We can move him somewhere else. We walked in, and in the front lobby they had a bunch of patients sitting comatose in wheelchairs watching TV. I guess they have the TV close to the nurse's station so they can keep an eye on them. I'll get to the nurses in a bit. I went into the manager's office to sign all the paperwork and was surprised how dirty and broken down even her office was. I signed the paperwork reminding myself this was only going to be temporary until I could find another place. We then took the long hallway, all the way to the end where they had my dad. The entire place was old, broken down, in dis-repair and dirty. As we walked past the nurses station, they were all engaged in chit-chat that did not sound like anything to do with taking care of the patients. The nurses were dirty too, one of them looked like she hadn't washed her hair in at least a week. Ugh... if those are your personal hygiene standards, how do I trust you are going to keep my father clean? We walked past rooms that reeked of urine. And then the final kicker.... we walk into my father's room. It has 5 beds in it. A room no larger than a 2-car garage. The beds and other furniture looked like something that had come from a war time infirmary 50 years ago. But what really sealed the deal for me was the fly paper! FLY PAPER! Hanging from the ceiling, above the beds, with DEAD FLIES ON IT! I immediately called the hospice company and told them under no circumstances would I leave my father here. We got him out that night, and he came to my home temporarily until we found a decent place for him to spend his last days on earth. The Bradley Gardens is a place where poor people are dumped to die. It's disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves, and the County of Riverside should revoke their licence.

For 4 months I was unable to get out of bed. Without exception the staff never gave up on me. In the beginning I couldn't even feed myself. Everyone worked very hard to make me believe in myself, they succeeded. I can say the only reason anyone would, want to do the difficult work that everyone does here is because they truly care, it certainly isn't for the money. My recovery was slow and difficult, but I realized from the beginning it would be a marathon not a sprint. The physical therapy department is staffed with well-trained people who care and always create a positive and friendly environment. The activity department work very hard to provide everything from popcorn and movies to bingo games and many other fun projects. After being told I might never walk again, last Friday I walked almost a full mile. I can now do all the things necessary that we take for granted, showering, dressing myself, putting my shoes on and lacing them. Etc.., etc. I am finally ready to "graduate" from here and move on to another much lower level of care. I will miss all of the amazing people here who have made this possible, they truly feel like family. So, yes, I have no problem recommending this facility with only one reservation. The food, for whatever reason is not up to the level that rates 5 stars, but because everyone else is so exceptional I am willing to reluctantly overlook that shortcoming.

I recovered at Redlands Healthcare skilled nursing facility, after an accident that crippled both…read morelegs due two large-bone fractures, needing rods and pins, and an ankle dislocation that needed a plate implant. The other leg, a knee needed reconstruction. I could barely put weight a little on one leg when I got there. The Physical Therapy section of the care was excellent. Even when I could barely move the legs they had me getting my blood circulating with stretch bands in bed and lifts. I felt so inspired to heal. We worked so well together, my team who helped with all kinds of care, from clean ups, bathing, the meal plan, the medications and even some fun activities such as painting, word games, number games and searches. There were special events such as ethnic music and dance, an ice cream social, and birthday celebrations. Staff people, nurses and assistents were cheerful and helpful. Administration: top notch. I considered staying longer, but the care was so efficient at getting me back on my feet again that I got to leave two months early! I even went back to visit some of my friends-- both patients and staff, and felt welcome and almost like home! No wonder this place is always full to capacity with people lined up to get in! Thank you to every person who contributed to such a speedy recovery! They made sure that I got home safely, as well. 10/10 I highly recommend this facility!
