We went early on a Sunday morning to make sure we could sit at a table and watch the planes outside. A waitress was very pleasant and the Caribbean music was playing again ! Hubby's coffee came quickly and the waitress did a great job of keeping it hot. I ordered the bi-plane and I had two yummy pancakes with eggs over easy and lots of tasty bacon. Husband had two eggs, two sausage patties, grits, and raisin toast. He enjoyed his meal. There were lots of planes there, but only one took off while we ate our breakfast

side of toast, two pancakes as a part of The Biplane order.

Sunday, August 17, 2025 - three for breakfast for my birthday after church and before the beach! My wife has been coming here for years with her mom many years ago and recently with friends. This was my first visit. They were NOT part of my 31 breakfast restaurants roundup I did between 2021 and 2023 because they do not seem to mention or do Eggs Benedict. They do have a poached egg item on the menu. (spoiler alert: they would have been 32nd) NOT part of the rating, but as a comment. It seems maybe with the open kitchen and grill setup or maybe it was just this day (I did not ask) but the air conditioning was CLEARLY not up to the task and it was in the 80s in the restaurant..... a bit uncomfortable for sure as we were in church clothes (long pants, socks hard shoes, dress shirt and my wife in long dress etc.) Even in shorts near the windows where we were it had to be mid to upper 80s F. Service was spectacular and all the servers seems gregarious and friendly and a real asset to the place. They kept mentioning the chef and he and the other cooks were out and about bringing entree and checking on a few folks. It seemed a lot of locals and regulars in the off season. (we live in Venice as well year round) My wife ordered what she had before which was the St. Lucian Breakfast Quesadilla Scrambled eggs, cheese, sautéed peppers, tomato, onions and roasted pork inside a grilled tortilla with salsa and sour cream. she got the plantains as well. The quesadillas were pretty wet and she noted little overly cooked compared to the last times she was there. Maybe the packed house and the quantity of patrons had things a little chaotic in the kitchen? The plantains were very oily and wet as well. 6/10 My daughter went with the Biplane. Two eggs and two pancakes with your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage. w/chocolate chips for $1 extra. She ordered the eggs over easy.... and they came properly cooked1 from a yoke perspective. However they were very quickly hot heated/fried with what my family used to call "mom's veil of burnt oil/butter in the bubble pockets of the egg and around the circumference. Not low and slow, but FAST fried. The whites were a little crunchy around the edges and on the surface. 4/10 Her pancakes were a little 'powdery' grainy as if maybe not well mixed or maybe not mixed correctly? not horrible. 6/10 She is a sausage fan but likes to see what is coming out before she orders the patties or the links as this items varies significantly from restaurant to restaurant. So she went with the bacon. there were about 3.5 strips. Absolutely annihilated & over cooked - almost bacon dust. and yet the entire plate had about 4 tablespoons of bacon grease flowing around and the bacon was glistening. HAD to be a fast nuke job on a plate. My daughter was paper towel blotting the oil/grease butter off the eggs and bacon plate as I was taking the pictures 0/10 inedible... her side order of toast had been pre-melted with a patty of butter on each piece and wet and soggy. not touched. 0/10 I got (the birthday boy? (smile)) the Flight Attendant's Omelet which is Fresh mushrooms, onions, tomato, green peppers, and spinach traditionally served with refried beans and salsa. I also asked for NO CHEESE on my omelet? I opted for an English muffin for my bread. Like my daughter's eggs and my wife's quesadilla, my omelet was one could almost imagine "seared" cooked on a hot plate or griddle. Honestly when I first smelled and ate it, the omelet smelled "fishy" or as if it was cooked in the same plate or griddle as the crab cakes I saw on the menu???? the butter or oil at a very high heat? If you dig up the picture here the omelet is dark brown and yet the inside was very wet and just warm? the spinach and veggies possibly stewed and cooked and just added in there but not hot. the egg was not enjoyable and actually dry. Just a very rushed and too quickly cooked egg dish? 4/10 The refried beans were also dry as either a little old or possibly refried - refried beans and just reheated again in the microwave or something. Unexpectedly they had cheddar cheese melting on top of the beans? (asked for no cheese on the omelet but had no idea I need to ask for no cheese on the refried beans?) There was mention of a salsa? but not sure where that was or might have been in??? 4/10 The coup de grâce for my meal was the "English muffin" ? Like my daughters toast, it was buttered all over and inside? and it was COLD!!! It was actually colder than the area I was sitting in at 82 F or so? took one bit but could not chew it. 0/10 This was not a good visit, I am sad to report. And it pains me to share this with fellow Yelpers. Possibly I am being overly harsh because I am typing a 5 outta 5 review for a dinner we had in Sarasota the night before.... this was more than 4 stars away on that scale though. So I am submitting as a 1. (frown)

If it's busy, be prepared to eat and run! Unfortunately, my last visit yesterday, is literally my last. Have been coming here for several years for exceptional, albeit pricey, breakfast and lunch. Food and service again this time were excellent but because my friend and I evidently lollygagged too long after finishing our meal, owner, Chef Tony abruptly came to our table and grabbed our tickets with which we had not yet placed our credit cards, and said in so many words, we had to leave because there were people waiting to be seated. This was shocking and surprising because two different servers had come by and refilled our coffee cups with no indication that we needed to leave while enjoying a relaxing after dinner conversation. I'm sorry I won't go back even though the food is excellent, and the servers are very friendly and fun. But the owner is not!

Ok. So we've been wanting to try this place just a little bit. Got a table by the window so you could see the runways and planes taking off. Not Dulles or anything but nice views of planes taking off. Place is diner-like which I like having grown up in Philly going to diners all the time. Service is very good and servers are pleasant and quick. As for the food I got the Flight attendants omelet - it was dry and not very flavorable. Provolone cheese was just laid on top. Not much else to say. My partner got the quesadilla and it was pedestrian at best. Coffee was ok - regular or decaf. Maybe other entrees are better. Very nice people working there.

Being locals it was about time we came here. So many people had told us such great things and so we decided to beat the winter crowd and came in this past Saturday morning. Thankfully, we got seated right away which was a real treat considering there aren't that many tables! We loved our food! I'd say it's pricey, but special enough where the total bill doesn't necessarily scare you. My son raved about his kids pancake which was adorably designed with fruit (and husband confirmed it was really good). My husband had the St Lucian Quesadilla and said it was probably one of the best breakfasts he's had - loved the flavors of the meat in it. I enjoyed their Venetian Omelet without cheese and it was really fresh tasting. They unfortunately don't have gluten free bread so I had to skip that side. We will be back! It's great for kids (and adults too). We thoroughly enjoyed watching the planes coming and going.

A great little restaurant at the Venice airport. Only saw the lunch menu since my guest and I were there after 11 AM when breakfast ends. Great diversity in the menu with so many different delicious looking foods. The chef from St. Lucia has a good thing going. I enjoyed the crabcake sandwich, which was billed as the best one in Sarasota County. Not sure if it is, but it was a great one.

Another great breakfast at our favorite hidden gem. Love the music, the food and the service. Always top notch! We will be back soon

Corn beef hash was outstanding made in house. I had the iced pecan coffee with fresh vanilla creamer which was tasty. The view of the planes taking off and landing was definitely a sight to see. The private airport was luxurious. Chef/owner was sitting at the front inviting everyone as they entered.

Waiting to take off Is interminable not airport fault - pilot husbands - anyhow the folks here offered to dogsit my dog and Dimitri from cafe came out to offer my pup ice water and me - flyaway lunch - Cubano and steak sandwiches slaw with pineapple and Cuban rice - chef from the islands and does not mess around. People fly on Just to eat here I found out and locals come by too - the food is that good! Fly or walk in-Suncoast will literally take care of the rest!! read more

We have come to make this little jewel a place to dine at while in Fl. They are always upbeat and friendly. The lunch time atmosphere is great with the airport outside the windows. The food speaks to itself, "Great" Thanks to the whole staff!!! read more

Nope. Said it all in my tip. Heyday, if there was one, is passed. You should pass it over as well. Prices are inflated for diner fare, perhaps as it is meant to serve the leisure pilots with a bit of extra dosh on them. Service disappeared after we placed our order, and reappeared only to deposit the dishes. I had to send my dish back, as it contained feta cheese that had unintentionally gone over to bleu. Head into town, you will find better fare. read more

Suncoast Cafe, located at the small regional Venice Airport, is a hidden treasure! Chef Tony, who is an amazing cook, lifts standard menu offerings to a whole new level with a flair and a smile. Breakfast offerings are my favourites, however lunch is available as well. Eggs Benedict and the Cuban sandwich are two noteworthy menu items. read more

Suncoast Cafe, located in the SunCoast Air Terminal near Venice Airport, is a delightfully delicious surprise. The owner is from St. Lucia, so I. Addition to a very complete breakfast & lunch menu with typical fare, there are many interesting Caribbean inspired items. The chicken curry with rice & plantains is wonderful. Or perhaps you'd like crab cake stuffed calamari steaks? Octopus curry? Mahi tacos? Eggs Benedict with slow roasted pork? So many options I'm sure to come back, especially for the pork eggs Benny! read more

I love the friendly wait staff. They greet you warmly and make you feel welcome. The place is rather small so get there early to avoid waiting. The food is fantastic. I love the Caribbean twist on classic breakfast items. This place is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Chef Tony takes pride in his food and it shows. The St. Lucian Quesadilla was so stuffed with wonderfully moist pork, I could not pick it up with my hands and had to eat it with a knife and fork. Pancakes were fluffy and large! We enjoyed our breakfast watching planes take off and land. We will definitely return for lunch to try the curry and jerk. Closed on Tuesdays. read more

We make sure not to miss a breakfast when we visit Venice. Out of the way spot at the airport. A Caribbean vibe with tunes to match. The chef clearly loves his craft and staff as they always seem to be cheery and in a good mood. The food is fresh and even the side of fruit is clearly prepared daily. Check out the specials board as you walk in. Large portions. Lots of original dishes with flair. Would recommend. read more

We enjoyed our Sunday morning breakfast during our first visit to this small restaurant, located at the Venice Airport. The short wait for table was no issue in the comfortable lounge. Great service, the food delicious, had eggs w ham w French toast and coffee, wife had corned beef hash, home fries w egg whites all served quickly and delisious. The place is small but the ambiance makes up for it. Came here twice during our vacation. Great spot. Got the stuffed French toast for breakfast, which was awesome. Don't need syrup with that one. The caramelized fruit with it was delicious. I had the Cuban with sweet potato fries for lunch. That was also awesome. The place has a diner vibe but with reggae music playing and Bob Marley quotes on the wall. This is my favorite 'fly to' breakfast spot on the Florida west coast. It's only a quick 30 minute flight from my runway and just as easy as a trip by car to a local restaurant. The food has always been excellent and the service and friendliness of the staff is exceptional. Chef Tony prepares great, plentiful dishes with a Caribbean flair. You won't walk away hungry and you won't walk away dissatisfied. Love the reggae sounds while having breakfast. I flew a lot of Caribbean destinations while flying for American Airlines and this restaurant is a pleasant reminder of the people and food from the islands. read more

I have been bragging about this place for years! It had been a long time that I had not tasted Chef's Tony's marvelous CHILI and so I indulged in that today. Also took home his amazing CHEF'S SALAD, which is topped with the freshest chicken salad you can imagine! Excellent food cooked by people who know what they are doing. I got the St. Lucian Quesedilla which was great but I was super jealous of my husband's choice. 2 eggs (scrambled perfectly), sausage (tasted homemade), French toast (big thick Texas toast slices) and home fries (best I ever tasted). Great place of all places located in the little Venice airport. Definitely would return. read more

Outstanding food at reasonable prices! The ordinary appearance of the sun coast cafe belies the superb food! My Cuban breakfast burrito was delicious and contained eggs, hand roasted pork & cheese all wrapped in a soft tortilla! My girlfriend had hash with soft boiled eggs-hers was great too! The chef came out and personally and checked on us-he had us sample his multi-award winning chili. It was superb as you would expect. So good in fact that we took some to go for later. Do yourself a favor and get there before the secret is out! read more

This is not the old breakfast cafe! New ownership, new chef, great menu. This is now a Caribbean themed small cafe with a Caribbean chief. Where else can you get GOAT stew? And it was great - tender, favorable, not too spicy. Just right. The Cuban sandwich was also a big seller for lunch, and it looked great. Located in a flight center at Venice Airport, it's a little hard to find? But it's a tiny airport. You can find it. Believe me it is worth the wait to eat Goat in Venice. read more

We just today ordered their Pilots Course Cuban and Suncoast Chicken Sandwiches and an extra order of plantains. This is maybe the best meal we have had in Venice area. I always buy a bag of their Suncoast Cafe ground coffee. It is real coffee, not too strong, but rich, smooth aroma. I used to drink Dunkin' donuts until I had Suncoast. Other grocery coffees must put fillers in, but Suncoast coffee is dark and real!! Great food, great staff! Great service! read more

I stumbled on this foodie find years ago and thank my lucky stars that it wasn't another one of those flash-in-the-pan eateries with a menu that's less than "meh." Yessss, they have good old standby breakfast/lunch fare which is always delicious, made from scratch and in ample portions. BUT what truly differentiates this conspicuously-creative cafe is Tony's Caribbean-inspired and oh-so-authentic offerings. They are XXXcellent (ask about the specials, soups and whatever else he has going in the crockpots) and you get that goofy-smile, satiated feeling of eating something "made from the heart" (says the closet comfort food junkie). This is not a cookie-cutter cafe, but Tony is definitely a one-of-a-kind COOKie. The friendly and capable staff always spice up the service without ever missing a beat. read more

A great small place to grab everything from soup and a sandwich to their main specials, including a stuffed calamari with crab cake (pictured). It was absolutely delicious. Others had sandwiches as well, and no complaints. read more

This is a wonderful surprise to find a Caribbean flavored restaurant overlooking Venice Airport. The menu has a diverse selection of offerings from a tuna melt to curry with goat. The food and service are exceptional. I look forward to my next visit. read more

We wanted a little cozy hole in the wall with great food for breakfast ...and this was it! From outside we thought we found the wrong place since it was the airport...so happy we decided to try!!! Our food was super fresh and big portions, but the best part was how delicious our food tasted. The atmosphere was fun- tropical music, funny chef, kind staff and sweet customers. Evidently a place with regulars who are great buddies as well. You eat overlooking the airfield. This is a place we will definitely return to when we are in town. read more

Tony has been in the restaurant industry for many years and has travelled all around the world as a chef. He and his wife, Deb, who is a travel agent, have always wanted their own restaurant, so they decided to open Suncoast Cafe right in the middle of Suncoast Air Center. Tony and Deb enjoy serving the public through Suncoast Cafe, where delicious food and great service are the driving forces of their business. I am a visitor from NY and we were on our way to Sharky's Beach when we decided to stop by this lovely cafe for breakfast. I am very used to the "home town mom and pop" kind of places as I am from a very small town...well, let me first say...KUDOS to you! We were greeted with a smile and, my goodness what a spectacular view of the planes...I was at first skeptical that we may smell the fumes as it is so close...but you absolutely do not...it is a wonderful treat to see them flying in and out! Our service was very nice and we were treated like we were regulars...The food was OUTSTANDING! I had an omelette and the Chef used all egg whites which was very yummy! I loved the Caribbean touch with the plantains too! My husband is Latin and he LOVED them....drinks were refilled without us having to ask and were just treated so wonderful...we even went back for lunch the same day...again...a spectacular meal! Go to another airport. There were more negative reviews about this F.B.O., but they disappeared. The staff is rude, and incompetent. There are no courtesy cars available.No maps available. they told me to go somewhere else. I will. KPGD, or KSRQ are better. Check: http://100ll.com/ for cheaper fuel. This is the same F.B.O that trained the 911 terrorists. Punta Gorda Airport (Punta Gorda, FL) KPGD, has cheaper Fuel and more services available. KPGD has ATC is it easier to get an IFR Clearence, and depart IFR. There are many aircraft beining operated at KVNC with no radios.Suncoast Air Center is poorly run. The staff is rude, and have poor training.If you use another fixed based operator, or Airport it would be a safer option. Fuel is cheaper at other Airports.No Cars are available, unless you rent one. This is the fixed based operator that under a different name, trained the 911 hijacker-Pilots in the September attacks. Suncoast Air Center is operated under a fictitious name.Makes you wonder what the owners are hiding. read more

Highly recommend if you are in Venice, FL you visit the Suncoast Cafe located in the Venice Municipal Airport, on Airport Avenue E. Summer hours are 7:30 - 2pm closed on Tuesday. Don't think because it's located in the airport building it won't be welcoming. It is the friendliest little restaurant with the BEST food in Venice, FL. We had lunch, but so many have recommended their breakfast. Chef Tony has the personality it takes to run a business, we find that owners that interact with their customers always have the best food and people tend to return. Kellen cooks along side Tony, and Lacey our waitress has personailty plus. I had the Cuban, and hubby had the Reuben, then we tasted each others. We told her it was our first time there so she brought out small servings of mushroom soup, conch soup and Tony's chili. I should have taken pictures of the soup samples, but we gobbled them down quickly. All were delicious, I'm having the chili on our next visit. Today I finally experienced an awesome lunch cooked up by chef tony! The environment of the cafe is awesome. With a perfect view of the airport. when i walked in I was not only greeted by the very pleasant server named lacey, but also by Chef Tony and the female prep cook working beside him. As i looked over the menu there was great interaction between the employees and the customers all around, it definitely gave it that small family restaurant feel. But that doesn't at all begin to explain how vastly amazing, and great tasting the food is at the Cafe. The Cuban sandwich is, and always will be "to die for!" The Chef even makes his own onion ring sauce which is perfect. As I was about half finished with my Cuban (which is HUGE!!!) the server brings me a small bowl of the Chefs "award winning" chili. which is what sealed the deal for me! Folks, the food is great, but what sets this spot apart from all other mere great spots is the company you'll meet every time you dine there. The staff treat you like family, and every menu item I've tried has been a dining experience. On top of the fabulous food and the interesting conversations you'll have with your fellow diners, Suncoast has a Rewards program that rewards you for eating food that will have you coming back for more. You owe it to yourself to come in and treat yourself to Tony's phenomenal food and be well-treated by the friendliest staff in the USA (and I've not found friendlier anywhere else in the world either!) My husband and I had just moved to Venice FL and my cousin was flying in from Ft. Meyers and told us to meet her there for breakfast. WOW, that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with this awesome restaurant. We have been going there for over a year now and I must say, we go weekly. The food is fantastic and Tony uses the most amazing spices. I have to admit, I'm a bit addicted to his food. They all treat us like family now and know us by name. This is the safest place to eat all along the West Coast of Florida. Given our current situation with Covid19, this restaurant is taking extra precautions to keep their guest and employees safe. They even take your temperature before allowing you to enter and, of course, masks are required. Food and service are fantastic. I had the Oxtail Caribbean style, just so yummy. This place has GREAT food. I stopped in after having my airplane worked on and ordered a crab sandwich, plantains, and cole slaw. It is the BEST COLESLAW I've ever eaten. More of a vinegar base but not harsh, slightly sweet with a tinge of pineapple. Sauce for crab awesome. Plantains were dessert. Our Server was Lacy and very friendly.
