SunCafe is one of those wonderful restaurants that are hard to forget and easy to return to for several reasons. First of all, it features a cozy at-home feeling (this was probably once a house) both indoors and outdoors. I love sitting outside and enjoying some fresh air with a little sunshine--as long as it's not too hot. At night, they light up the patio with some pretty cute lights and a fire pit, which gives it some extra charming vibes! Second, they have an extensive menu, so there's plenty of options to pick and choose. This restaurant is mainly vegan and organic (which I LOVE!), but I recently noticed they created a vegetarian menu and just read a recent review stating they are also serving fish now. I know this can be very disappointing for vegans because it may seem like a purpose shift; and although I am vegetarian, I feel you because it was such an unexpected change, and the thought of cross-contamination is concerning--especially with fish. I am not sure why they decided to make this change because I've tried vegan sea food from many places and it's always been a hit. Now back to the point of why it's worthwhile: Third, food is amazing! Although kind of pricey, they do serve adequate portions, and organic restaurants are not too common, which is why we pay extra for it when we can. My favorite dishes are the Vegan breakfast burrito, Belgian waffle, Jackfruit and Mushroom tacos, Lasaña, and I recently tried their Portobello sandwich, which was delicious! I also love their fresh juices. However, their iced matcha was not my favorite; I only ordered it twice but both times I had it, it lacked in flavor because it either needed more matcha or less milk and ice. Everything else has always been fantastic. Lastly, everyone who works here is always so sweet and welcoming. Service is usually fast when I go in the morning-afternoon. However, I did dine-in once at night and it was slow, but pleasant nonetheless. Whether you are a vegan or not, SunCafe definitely offers plenty of healthy and tasty food options, plus a cozy vibe that's definitely worth experiencing.
Ambiance: it's a cozy vegan and vegetarian restaurant located near freeway, small private lot although there's bunch of street parking spots nearby, spacious dining inside and outdoor patio Service: friendly but so slow and forgetful, had to remind them a couple of times for things they missed, and by the end the entire table was never served ice water. It wasn't too busy at that time, and they just seem understaffed and disorganized. (11/11) SunCafe Organic is truly next-level. I've tried their lasagna, pasta, pizza, burritos, and mac -- and every single dish has been outstanding. The flavors are rich, comforting, and unforgettable. This is the kind of food I find myself craving monthly, maybe even daily. They hit all the marks: quality ingredients, fair price for what you get, warm service, and a great location. If I had to pick something to eat every day for the rest of my life, SunCafe would definitely be on the shortlist. I'm not vegan but still one of the best meals I've had ! Such a cool casual vibe in this place! Nice outside patio with trees and a couple of booths inside and table. Amazing amount of choices on the menu. Totally vegan. Friendly server. I've been for dinner and for lunch. Small parking lot in front. I will return to SunCafe!
Everything we have had at SunCafe has been soooooo flavorful! From nachos, to smoothies, to benny- all have been excellent. The service can be a bit hit or miss, sometimes it's a bit slow when it's not even busy. And both times we have dined here, they play explicit hip/hop or rap, which is not the most chill to dine to, especially during brunch. My biggest regret about SunCafe, though, is that they started to serve fish and dairy. I understand this may open them up to more business? But for those of us that love a non-contaminated kitchen, the business decision to add animal products to the menu (and therefore in the kitchen) is a bummer.
The coffee date shake that I had was really amazing!! They have fun outdoorsy seating either lots of shade for hot summers. Although the food wasn't that flavourful, it was a really well prepared. We had to leave early to get to an appointment so they even accommodated in changing our order to take out! Would definitely have to try dining to see the real taste of the dishes next time!
VEGAN !!!!!! As usual, I forgot to take a picture before I started eating. As you can see, I was greedy. None of this kind of food is near me so I always get Extra to bring home.
Do yourself a favor a try the tempeh Reuben - it is not only beautifully presented it is absolutely delicious. I came with 2 friends but it would also be a great place for a romantic date. So many interesting options to choose from it was hard to pick just one!
Great Place for outdoor dining! Dog friendly too! Lovely peaceful outdoor patio where you can really relax and enjoy your meal with your furry friends! The menu is wonderful with vegan and vegetarian brunch options. I ordered my favorite entree (enough food to split half for lunch half for dinner, who wants to cook on a Saturday) "Mushroom Bordeliase" delicious as always! My friend ordered the more traditional "Sun Breakfast Plate with the French Toast and Bacon" he is picky and gave everything rave reviews! The staff as always is charming and accommodating and even the pups behaved! Definitely a favorite spot anytime you want a delicious meal!
So sad to see this close... they had the most delicious shake with no sugar Too bad not enough people supported it. Every time I was there it wasn't enough people. I'll miss this place for sure.
Fun decor and great patio for dining when it isn't raining! We stopped for brunch Sunday. Last time I was here I had the savory breakfast burrito which I enjoyed. This time I went for the French Toast with berries, bananas, and walnuts. It was great! Big portion I couldn't finish. My latte was hot and flavorful. My son and his husband had a breakfast plate with tons of modifications and the server just smiled and said , "No problem". She was attentive and helpful. We'll be back!
Sunday brunch at SunCafe was fantastic! We had the breakfast panini, breakfast English muffin sandwich, Mac and cheese and a cupcake. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious, we ate every bite. I would recommend to anyone - vegan or not. The mac and cheese was delicious - we were sad we ordered a small and not a large. I'd pass on the cupcake. It's not really a cupcake. It's a dense thick dry bread with a sweet frosting. Not good at all. The patio is great and has quite a bit of seating. Service was great. I'll be back for sure and definitely recommend!
It's overpriced as heck. The place is super cute though. The staff is nice but they will forget about you repeatedly. If you say "yeah I need another five minutes to look at the menu" they will give you 30. I paid 18 dollars for avocado toast. Now that's on me. That said, it was decent. I wish you got a little more. I wish the bread was a little thicker. I think you can get a way better avocado toast for a better price at black heart coffee. Speaking of coffee, the coffee here is pretty mid. Probably use the same cheap syrups they use everywhere. That's fine though this is a restaurant and not a coffee shop. I would never choose to go here but I don't mind when I end up here. I should try more things on the menu as I don't feel qualified to give an opinion but for now I'll give it four stars. :) if you have a restrictive diet, this is the place for you!

Date night - Amazing food and great service. Hubby order lettuce leaf tacos and his favorite kale colossus Salad. And I ordered Pesto Broccoli Pasta which it was delicious pretty good portions. Highly recommended read more

Came here Sunday at 2pm. Plenty of free parking at the meters today and a small parking lot for the restaurant. 20 minutes and no water has been brought over yet. There's 3 tables of us looking around for a server. My friend who made our reservation said our table was given away because there is no host upfront and people just ask a waiter can they take a seat. She called the waiter out on it and they moved the party of two to a two top table Around 35 mins after being here all the tables near us food starts coming out, so they must of waited longer and the kitchen is caught up. Heard a lot of apologizing from the main waitress outdoors to different tables. Maybe they're understaffed? I saw the "host" buss a table while sitting someone at it lol. My friend kept promising the food would makeup for the service. Just saw another couple complain about never being approached. Onto the positives: the beyond meat burger was amazing. Kale salad was pretty good too. The protein green shake for the $17 dollar lived up to the price, the vibes and music (Lauren hill, Frank ocean) are all inviting. Hands down one of my favorite cafés in LA. Everything on the menu is nourishing, organic, and sooo delicious. I don't usually write reviews, but I absolutely adore this place. The space is peaceful and open, with the most charming garden patio. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. My go to dishes are the crispy rice, pozole, nachos, lasagna, stir fry, and buffalo cauliflower. If you love yourself and want to treat your body well, this spot is a must! read more

It seems every year I come back to this place and every time is an interesting experience. The service was mediocre and the food was average. When I first discovered this place, the food was good. When I returned today however, the food is no longer what it used to be. I always thought the food here was good, but this time was not. Their buffalo chicken sandwich was not good. The sandwich came out cold. The buns were cold and hard, the chicken wasn't crispy even though it was drenched in buffalo sauce I can tell it was old because there was no texture whatsoever. No flavor also. It was really bland it needed seasoning. Their Buffalo sauce was also bad. It was literally TABASCO. I can tell what hot sauce it was. It didn't even taste at all like buffalo sauce which is easy to replicate or even buy. Salad was a decent portion with the sandwich but the dressing wasn't what I remembered it to be. It tasted bland, lacked flavor. The salad was dressed but the dressing didn't taste like anything. It was more sour tasting than Caesar dressing. The breakfast panini portion was also SMALL. I was a bit surprised. Such a small sandwich with a small side of mash and gravy for $20+ Overall the experience wasn't great. Thinking back, I always remembered about this place and how good the food was and wanting to return. I don't live in the area and drive 40mins. I come here once a year because of the food, but coming back today was disappointing. Perhaps too much expectation. Now I know it's not worth the time. I don't know what I love more about this place...the food or the cute oasis they've created. I can't choose but I do know my absolutely favorite thing on the menu is their Strawberry Cheesecake. I daydream about it constantly and I can't manage to be in the area without wanting to stop in for a slice. To me it's hands down the best vegan cheesecake I've tasted. It's so yum it's never had a chance to have it's pic taken because I scarf it down so fast. So I posted some pics of the hummus and Reuben I had. Both yummy in their own right. If you stop in for some grub they do have a small parking lot right in front. And usually there's not much of a hassle regardless finding street parking on this patch of Ventura. This cozy little vegan restaurant serves some of the best vegan food I've ever tasted in my life. Took my mom here for her first vegan experience, and it was nothing short of lovely. We got there around 1:30, and it wasn't too busy. We sat on the outdoor patio and ordered Matcha Latte with oat milk and agave, the Omelette (it's made with mung bean, pico, spinach, veggies, mushrooms, Violife Parmesan and sour cream, topped with avocado) and a side of Caesar Salad, and I got the Baked Lasagna (brown rice noodles, walnut pesto, marinara, cashew ricotta & spinach, topped w/cashew cheese). Both dishes were so delicious. Our server, Paul, was nothing short of a lovely human being. Service was great, and we received our food in a timely manner. I recommend this spot to everyone that is trying to go vegan. Trust me, you won't regret coming here. read more

Finally after many years of thinking when am I gonna go here? Finally I wasn't far from it and had a friend meet me there for dinner! Menu is big and extensive as the waitress mentioned and I agree it's like a VEGAN Cheesecake Factory type menu and if you look at the items I agree! Even the desserts available.... It's so hard to explain this place but it is nice cozy and home like environment with friendly employees. Wasn't busy that night and a lot of space to choose where to sit. Well by chance they had happy hour so we decided to share everything and got 2 items from HH menu and one from the regular.... BBQ Chicken Salad (Lettuce, corn, tortilla chips, onions tomatoes, avocado, black beans, "chicken" w/dressing....) I forgot to ask what the Chicken was made with.... overall this dish was pretty good tasted almost exactly what I a BBQ Chicken Salad would be with chicken type nuggets in it. Mini Mac n Cheese (quinoa pasta w/tomato & cashew sauce baked in a cast iron skillet w/chives) - This was pretty good and tasty overall. Finally Mini Nachos (got it with Sunflower Chorizo) - Oh man how I miss Nachos since I try not to eat something like this anymore and especially because I don't eat cheese anymore.... LOVEEEE SunCafe!!! Fantastic spot in the valley for the vegan loving enthusiasts. We have ventured to SunCafe over 10x now... it's never a disappointment. Love the atmosphere, the food, cocktails, desserts, the staff members... you can't go wrong here! We have brought meat eaters here and they've loved the vegan fare. The nachos are without a doubt the best vegan nachos ever. This place is very allergy friendly. They are even conscious of people allergic to soy which is a standout since my fiancé is allergic to soy. A big stand out is they have breakfast all day. Love a place with this! Our pal got the breakfast plate and said everything was the best vegan eggs, pancakes she's ever had! This is the second time having the vegan sushi and it is SO FILLING. SO many flavors. It somehow tastes like real sushi... and I am a huge sushi lover. I am convinced SunCafe has cracked the case on how to make the best vegan food with flavors that are out of this world. The parking is small but they do have a parking lot, otherwise it's street parking. The dessert selection is UNREAL. It's huge. The cupcakes are gigantic and "heavy"... there is something for everyone here. My fiancé had the zucchini lasagna and she said it was one of the best vegan lasagna's she's ever had. The presentation was beautiful. We had some wine (ps they only have beer/wine and sake based cocktails) which is cool.. you can still find something delicious. We love coming here. I will hands down say this is the best vegan place in the valley. The fireplace is romantic and there are plenty of seats around it. Beautiful vibe - unique spot. Always cannot wait to return! I have been meaning to try this place for a while now & decided to take myself out tonight alone. It was wonderful. Service was excellent & the vegan Mac was good. The Oreo cheesecake and margarita sold me though. So did the vibes. It was quiet and peaceful & I can't wait to come back and try more things. IM FULL! Felt light and not to heavy on the tummy. Driving from San Bernardino to San Francisco, I needed to stop for some food before heading up north. I found SunCafe on the map and directly along my route so I stopped by for a quick brunch. I sat on their cute outdoor patio and perused their all-vegan & all-organic menus. So many delicious options that made it difficult to choose! I chose the 'Just Egg' veggie omelet with a side of Caesar salad. I also ordered the White Truffle Pizza to-go so I could easily eat while driving in the car. I'm a big fan of Just Egg, so I really enjoyed the omelet. The veggies inside are well-cooked and seasoned nicely. The Caesar salad arrived really dry so I had to request more dressing. Overall the portion size is perfect for one person. I thought the white truffle pizza is a bit dry, even when it came out fresh, but at least it made it easy to eat while driving. The crust is made from whole wheat and it is topped with a white truffle sauce and a variety of veggies. Overall, the flavor is good but can just use a little more sauce. I loved the ambiance of the outdoor seating area and I received wonderful service from the staff. Great pit stop and would love to come back again the next time I'm in the area! read more

The main reason I went there was because I wanted to try their pot pie and sea cakes(jackfruit), but looks like those were dinner items and cannot be served during brunch hours. So keep that in mind if you find something interesting on the menu. I liked their avocado toast and breakfast panini. Vegan sausage tasted good , ordered with side is mashed potato which had delicious gravy on top I did not like their coffee though Did came after almost 30 min of ordering. Server had thanked a couple of times for our patience though, and we were in no hurry, so I didn't mind it. Toilets were not very clean, and Easter tap in one of toilets was not working read more
Yay!!!! I'm so happy I found this place!!! I was down in LA helping my kid move into a new pad and found this place right by my hotel. Not crazy about the hotel, but found myself at this fantastic place several times. They are open every day, all day and night. And have a fab menu for me (no gluten, dairy, eggs) with so many yummy options. They have a nice sized dining room with tables and booths and also have a lovely outdoor patio. Servers are super friendly, helpful and fun. Food and drinks are delicious. They have a parking lot out front. Bathrooms in the back. read more

|[ t o p t i e r v e g a n f o o d ]| Let me preface by saying the food here is absolutely delicious and def my top vegan restaurant goto now. Minus one star for parking situation (small lot that's almost always full in the evenings and some street meter if ur lucky) and I feel the service initially upon seating could be a tad faster. Took about 15-20 min for someone to come take our order but after that it was prompt and superb. |[ d e l i o u s n e s s o v e r l o a d ]| Daring fettuccine Alfredo (5/5) - wow this really blew my mind I loved it! LOVE that they used edamame noodles for this, making it a much healthier option than reg pasta. The sauce and daring chicken were very savory and I wouldn't have thought that it was vegan had I not known (though the texture of the daring chicken def tasted diff than actual meat it was yummy). The mac n cheese (5/5) - now this was insane I could not tell it was vegan and actually had to confirm the pasta was actually made w quinoa lol. Highly recommend, perfectly baked and cheesy. Cream of mushroom soup (5/5) - super creamy delicious and a must have for mushroom lovers, perfectly flavored. Baked lasagna (4/5) - took a bite of this to try and it was decently good but I have to say I prefer the zucchini lasagna (5/5) which gives me less guilt with carbs (since baked lasagna made w brown rice and zucchini lasagna made w zucchini) and imo tasted better/more savory also! Truffle mushroom pizza (4.5/5) - tried this and while it was really good, I wish the GF crust has more options as I'm trying to avoid rice/carbs (crust made w brown rice). GF heart brownie (2/5) - for a hefty $6 I expected it to be amazing but kinda fell short and tasted really sweet and generic (almost like a prepackaged dessert). |[ o v e r a l l ]| One of my fav places for vegan and healthier eating with a super cute unassuming home-style interior. The food is amazing. Really good. The pumpkin shake is so good. A lot of places put way too many spices so you can't taste the pumpkin. This has a great pumpkin taste without overdoing it. The lasagna has such a good taste. Fresh made pesto. The vibe is very chill. Service is great too. read more

I've been a fan of SunCafe for a long, long time, but somehow I've only done breakfast/brunch a couple times. What a miss on my part! It's so so good; I really need to make this a regular thing. I ordered the wet burrito which comes with quinoa, black beans, peppers, onion, and Just Egg. My partner got the Sun Plate which is Just Egg, tempeh bacon, hash browns, and French toast. I drank an amazing dirty chai latte and she got regular coffee. Only complaint was the coffee was a dark roast; she prefers medium or light. No biggie! The brunch menu is substantial and varied. The coffee and tea menu is similarly bigger than I realized, since I'm used to coming here for dinner, alcohol, or smoothies. Vegan, vegetarian, or meat eater: SunCafe is one of the best restaurants in LA. I've been coming here for nearly 15 years, and have only been vegan for 4. Don't miss this place. read more
Every vegan restaurant is a fav for me! We stopped by on a Tuesday at around 7pm and were able to squeeze into the parking lot and grab a spot by the heaters on the patio! We ordered the "favorites" per the menu: the raw nachos, lasagna, and mini mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was definitely a FAVORITE--wouldn't have guessed that it was vegan as it was super "cheesy!". The nachos were great as well, but I didn't love the jicama chips as they were not supportive of the toppings. I ended up going home and baking it so it would be slightly crispier. Lasagna was so so good as well, again, would not have guessed that it was vegan! We also ordered some "cheesecake" to bring home. At $15 a slice, it was slightly expensive but so so good. Not creamy like an actual cheesecake, but it had the texture of frozen yogurt (not the actual dessert like Yogurtland but as if you froze some greek yogurt at home). The crust was also too soft for my taste, but still good! Overall, will def be back to try more vegan things! read more

I'm not vegan myself but this place was so good! It felt like guilt free healthy food. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. It was quick too and the inside was cozy and relaxing. My favorite was the pizza it was so good and perfect amount of sauce. I also like their organic spicy sauce that was really yummy. Coming back here again! read more

Such a cute gem in studio city. For any vegans looking to take friends or family who genuinely love vegetables out to eat, then this is the place. Their plates are wholesome and surprisingly hold various flavors throughout the menu. I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. Again- it's a restaurant So, YES, you will see prices that make you say huh? SunCafe is certainly one of my go to spots whenever I'm in LA. I usually stop by for their raw foods but today, I came through for some breakfast. As usual, they delivered. Their parking lot is small, but there is metered street parking. The dining area is spacious, with a spacious inside and outside. As much as I wanted a waffle or pancakes, I opted for their omelette which came with a side-I chose mashed potatoes and gravy- and I ordered a side of their mini mac and cheese. How am I gonna finish all this food? Luckily, the portions weren't huge. I certainly had room for dessert so I ordered one of those huge chocolate chip cookies. Theirs are kinda weird, they add oatmeal. So it's oatmeal chocolate chip, not enough chips tho. read more

FOOD: I am basing this only on four items that we ordered. First, as a starter we ordered the gyoza. The menu indicates you'll get five. We received four. I'm not going to say that we complained because we didn't and, it may have been that this was the happy hour size/price and I tend to remain cool and pretty quiet about such things the first time I visit any establishment. The cauliflower steak dish (pictured) was good. I enjoyed it. The sauce was satisfying. The potatoes were well-seared, but I would have preferred some more seasoning for the two side veggies; they were dependent on that sauce for a lot of their flavor. The caramelization of the cauliflower was good on one side, but more of it on both sides would have given it that umami punch that it needed on its own. The French cut green beans were not al dente, but still retained their color and fresh flavor, so that's good. My companion had the baked lasagna. It is touted as their most popular dish. She enjoyed it, but said that she would probably order something else next time. She was eyeing the lentil loaf, so I believe that's the next dish she will be having in the future. Dessert was the pistachio cheesecake. That earned the title of "best of the meal." It was well-presented, full of pistachio flavor, with a pleasant pecan/date crust. I'm a fan of cashew whipped cream, so I immediately took possession of the little decorative swirl on top with pistachios and goji berries. It wasn't cloyingly sweet, which made us both very happy. Just the right amount of sweetness, with the right-sized portion for its richness, made for a good end to the meal. We chose to finish it off with the rest of our $9 bottle of water, even though a cup of joe would have been preferable. AMBIANCE: Cute patio. OPTIONS:: There are a lot of food options. Many would satisfy any non-vegan or non-vegetarian friends. PRICING: Alarming. Thank heavens the ostensibly wealthy man's iced tea does comes with refills PARKING: Given that when we arrived, we were one of 3 tables, the parking lot was surprisingly full. So be prepared to pay for parking at the meters on Ventura, or I wish you the best of luck finding parking in the winding street behind the restaurant. *As we checked in, another one of the small number of patrons at the time pointed out a cockroach in the interior dining area. One of the servers called to a guy in Spanish,"Hay una cucaracha," and he came out and stomped on it. My companion didn't notice. If she had we would have left immediately, as her tolerance is different from mine. read more
