We had Bird Breakfast sandwiches, rice porridge, and the fried fingerlings. The flavors were divine, the over easy eggs cooked perfectly. Sunbird is a breath of fresh air while on vacation on the cape. I am trying to eat clean and being on the cape I quickly realized that it is harder to find clean options. Instead of resigning myself to fried food (no shame in that game!) everyday and feeling like absolute garbage, I tried to research places with gf and sf options. Enter Sunbird! We used to go to their food truck and were so happy they opened up a shop in our favorite place to stay, Orleans. Everything I've tried here has tasted delicious and made me feel great! Just had an amazing lunch at the Sunbird and had to write about it. As a gluten-free diner, I was thrilled to see the amount of gluten-free options available for me, from these amazing breakfast tacos, to the three baked goods I brought home to try (cookie, almond cake, and corn-cranberry muffin). With robust and somehow light flavor profiles in everything they prepare, it is truly a delight to enjoy their food. The decor is relaxed and hip, the staff is warm and helpful, plus they have an eye towards the planet by using compostable containers and utensils. I thought finding an appealing place on the middle of the Cape would be harder but Sunbird had amazing drinks, vegetarian friendly options, local snacks, and a really cute and inviting atmosphere. We go here every time we're in the Cape and love the vibe here. Great food, baked goods and coffee. They typically have Counter Culture and Tandem Roasters on tap, as well as good Chai Tea(for the lady). While we typically come for breakfast or brunch, the one time we came for dinner, we left impressed. It was last summer but I still talk about the bolognese. It appears they have an ever changing menu. With all the great things happening here, my favorite part are the baked goods. The most recent visit I got two donuts and two cookies, on top of my breakfast. Hopefully they offer a baking class one of these days. A lovely restaurant in Orleans, right off of 6a in an otherwise ordinary shopping plaza, the Sunbird is well worth a stop on your trip to the Cape. My daughter and I had Sunday brunch, so I can't comment on the dinner. However looking over both menus, I got the sense that both feature a sense of health, love, and creativity. Most of the items on the brunch menus had aspects that were unique, such as the fresh smoked mozzarella on my breakfast sandwich, which I loved as a whole. The staff were warm and helpful. Inside you forget the restaurant's setting in the plaza because of all the natural light and inspired decor, and cool retro music. Overall we just got a small taste of the Sunbird (in addition to the breakfast sandwich my daughter had a cider donut and a side of bacon on citrus-dressed greens) but I look forward to returning! read more

Small, little coffe shop with a limited menu and quirky flavors. The quinoa porridge was made with pickled cranberries and ginger so of course we had to try it. Strange flavor pairs... I believe the cranberries may have been pickled in rosemary? The kids' hot chocolate had an orange flavor to it? And the bird sandwich had a citrusy mayo. Everything on the menu seemed to have a little interesting to expected flavor to it. We love to get one sandwich and one GRAIN BOWL and split them for lunch or dinner. The grain bowl has a foundation of quinoa with various seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame) with herbs and micro greens carrots and the option of an egg, chicken, or other protein on top. I would say absolutely go here, and maybe prepare for salty. I'm sure this is a place where you could go and one day the food would be incredible, stellar,etc and another day the food could be oily and overly salty. My Three's Company was a pleasant departure from the unexpected. The fingerling fries were so unique and tasty with the lemon zest - amazing - and at the same time sooooosalty- too salty. My son had the grilled cheese with smoked mozzarella. The bread tasted as if it were toasted in truffle butter! Delicious-Super yum and yet, also salty and oily. I had Devil's Purse IPA - so great. Honestly not sure why this is a 4 1/2 star place, I thought it was pretty average. It's what you would call a Hipster Brunch place with very little brunch options. I ordered the fried egg, bacon and piece of wheat toast and my friend got the veggie fritata. We were both underwhelmed. I also got a latte and asked for non fat milk but they said the only other options were almond or coconut milk. I hate coconut, so I got the almond milk and maybe that's what made it not great. I got the breakfast sandwich and enjoyed that. We both agree that it could infused avocado but still very good. Dad got the sausage sandwich with the apples and he enjoyed it.
