It was lucky that when we came out, they had extra kayaks. (Whoo!).Called and talked to Lisa* (I think this was her name sorry if i forgot!!!) she was super nice and told us to come on down to the dock. We signed some paperwork and paid through square and that was it, she said we could be out there a bit longer *I think because we can totally lose track of time out there and be like oh shoot we gotta get back and it'll probably take a few minutes. But the experience: It was good nothing bad honestly if i could be out there and take a nap without fear of falling in I would totally do that.(you can probably do that...) Honestly real talk on this stuff the paddle boarding seemed legit, if i knew how to swim i totally would've done that If you're ever down here and want to do something else besides gamble be sure to come down here or up whatever you know what i mean like come on GPS 5/5 would go again, plus she took pictures of us which was super nice Go out there and have some fun! -Josh

This is a park with walking and biking trails wih ample access to the truckee river. Typically quiet and has enough room to not have to crowd any particular arrea. This is also a quality place to see spring blooms and fall color changes in the area. There is a small parking lot that is pretty safe since there is really no other reason to be in this area unless you are using the park. As far as naming of this park, I believe it was named after Dr. Massoud Dorostkar, an anesthesiologist in Reno who donated the tract of land for use as a park. What I dont know is how to properly prononuce the Persian surname Dorostkar. is it DO-roast-car or duh-RAWST-kahr? Either way this is a great scenic hike and picture worthy site that is a short bike ride from downtown.

There aren't very many other things which would resemble a park. There are a few picnic tables under some mature trees. There is a paved path which connects to Mayberry Park. There is not a playground at this park. There aren't any basketball courts or tennis courts. There are no bathrooms at this park. The park was clean and there is a parking lot to park in. Have fun out there. -Dadzone

What you will find is a well maintained (most of the time) park on the Truckee river. Quiet park where it is easy to have space to yourself. Lots of sun and shade. Ample parking for the area. The Truckee River Walk trail goes right through the park. Make sure you respect the river current here. The shore is nice but the river gets strong in the middle.

There's plenty of shade thanks to the beautiful, massive trees, and wide open grassy areas that make it easy to spread out and relax. Notable: - Smallish park, best for the younger crowd (I'd say 8 and under). - Life jackets are available to borrow (huge plus for families near the river). - Bathroom on-site (clean-ish depending on time of day). - There's a sand horseshoe pit with horseshoes provided--random but awesome. - Ample parking - Popular for jogging groups, photoshoots, and 4-legged parents (some leashed, some not). Worth mentioning: The playground surfacing is recycled rubber tire material. While it's soft and safer for falls, I'm torn on it--lots of new research around potential chemical exposure and PFAS concerns. Feels like one of those "it seemed like a good idea in the early 2000s" things. Would love to see Reno explore alternatives in the future.
