The instructors are amazing, patient, knowledgeable, and truly care about helping each child succeed. The office staff is always friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful as well. What really sets Silver Bear apart is how personable everyone is. They take the time to get to know each child, build relationships with them, and make them feel comfortable and confident in the water. Because of their dedication, both of our kids have become such confident, capable swimmers. We highly recommend Silver Bear to any family looking for a swim school that genuinely cares about their students!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience, especially…read moreafter reading other reviews and realizing that several families have had experiences similar to ours. These swim lessons were a significant investment for our family, and over our last eight sessions, we experienced repeated cancellations, rescheduling, and poor communication--all due to changes on their end. At one point, we drove to our scheduled lesson only to find the building closed because no one had notified us it had been canceled. We were also moved from the day, time, and instructor we initially paid for, and had a last minute cancellation due to us only being the lesson for the day. Throughout it all, I remained patient, flexible, and understanding. However, the final scheduling issue for a makeup lesson from their cancellation was handled in a way that felt dismissive and disrespectful. After weeks of accommodating their changes, I simply requested a refund for our last lesson because I no longer felt comfortable continuing. Unfortunately, the owner, Holly, never responded or honored that request. At $72 for a 30-minute lesson, I believe families should be able to expect reliable communication and professional customer service. This review isn't about one cancellation--it's about a consistent pattern of poor communication and a lack of accountability. I hope this feedback encourages improvements so other families have a better experience.

Overall, the gym seems pretty decent. I haven't used the pool, sauna, or hot tub yet, so I can't…read morereally review those. The equipment is in overall good shape, although there do seem to be some cardio machines that lack some of their original functionality (heartbeat sensors that don't work). The facility is pretty clean, and well organized, and I haven't seen any behavior by patrons or employees that would be off putting to anyone of any fitness level (and I should know, my strength is pretty poor right now). I can say that I definitely do not recommend that anyone use their personal training options as of now. I'm about six weeks into a six month contract (and very glad that I didn't sign up for one longer or with more/longer sessions)... and now have a third (fourth in one way) personal trainer... the first flaked and never showed for the first appointment (after the 'free personal training session' which was much more a hard sell session)... all communications except for the notice that a different trainer was assigned to me on that first paid session has been by text message, that, and only that communication was by email (which I didn't check until hours later)... no one at the gym knew about the change, either and, evidently, the other trainer was either not there or not that interested (I was at the cubicles where the pt's are based ten minutes early and stayed for at least five minutes after the scheduled time before going to do a workout on my own). The second (third?) trainer was great for a few weeks, but her schedule has now changed, so I've been shunted to a third (fourth?) trainer that I've met (I never met the second that was the rescheduled no show)... each of the three I've met has had a different focus and style, so six weeks into this, I still don't really have a set workout schedule because I haven't been able to settle into any kind of rhythm and routine. Presuming that I don't just give this up as wisdom earned, I expect no less than a few more weeks before anything changes... and who knows what else might happen between now and then. My initial goal was simply to improve my strength and possibly maximize the efficiency of my workouts as I'm getting older and coming off of an injury... six weeks has now been at least partially wasted while costing me a not insignificant amount of money and time. I would have been better off simply doing what I've done previously and working off of knowledge that's 20 years old but developing my own routine and simply doing my best... I would be farther along in improving my conditioning. If you're fine working out alone and don't need a (or want) a personal trainer, I would recommend that you consider this gym... otherwise, I'd recommend that you find somewhere else.
