These swim lessons were a significant investment for our family, and over our last eight sessions, we experienced repeated cancellations, rescheduling, and poor communication--all due to changes on their end. At one point, we drove to our scheduled lesson only to find the building closed because no one had notified us it had been canceled. We were also moved from the day, time, and instructor we initially paid for, and had a last minute cancellation due to us only being the lesson for the day. Throughout it all, I remained patient, flexible, and understanding. However, the final scheduling issue for a makeup lesson from their cancellation was handled in a way that felt dismissive and disrespectful. After weeks of accommodating their changes, I simply requested a refund for our last lesson because I no longer felt comfortable continuing. Unfortunately, the owner, Holly, never responded or honored that request. At $72 for a 30-minute lesson, I believe families should be able to expect reliable communication and professional customer service. This review isn't about one cancellation--it's about a consistent pattern of poor communication and a lack of accountability. I hope this feedback encourages improvements so other families have a better experience.

They love kids and the try to have fun with them while also pushing them to learn which I really appreciate since my son can be cautious and hesitant. One tiny con is parking since they don't have a lot of space but I've never had an issue finding a spot close by.

What really sets Silver Bear apart is how personable everyone is. They take the time to get to know each child, build relationships with them, and make them feel comfortable and confident in the water. Because of their dedication, both of our kids have become such confident, capable swimmers. We highly recommend Silver Bear to any family looking for a swim school that genuinely cares about their students!

It seems like getting kids into swim school in Reno is more difficult than getting our kids into Harvard. Some waitlists were over a year! Luckily we were able to get into British swim school without a waitlist! Thank goodness with the summer approaching.   The instructors were very knowledgeable, professional and great with kids. We as parents felt like we had some great skills to work on before the next class. Salvador was exceptional in his delivery, and we feel very confident in having him teach both our kids (older one is now a starfish and working towards separation from us in the water). Salvador was also the best swimmer I have ever seen in my life. I hope my kids can swim like him someday!   We were not aware of this hotel before attending class and it was extremely nice and well maintained on the inside. It has a chic atmosphere and a really nice pool. The pool area was surprisingly large and very well maintained. I also heard there is a speakeasy bar that's there. Maybe we will check that out sometime also. The staff there were super friendly and helpful and provide detailed instructions for parking in their onsite garage. I most likely will be recommending the Plaza Resort Club Hotel for my out of state family/friends when they visit.   I would highly recommend the British Swim School of Reno to anyone that I know. We have really appreciated Triad School for our older child, who is now finishing up her second…read moreyear there. We are sending our other child to this school this fall. One of the biggest advantages to us of Triad is the educational model, where for core subjects students are moved to the academic level that best suits them. For example, math is at the same hour for the entire school, so a child who is more advanced or needs more help can float to the level and small group that best suits them. This happens very seamlessly and (as far as I can tell) without stigmatizing students. Small group assignments can shift quite easily as needs change. Not having to spend time and energy advocating for just the right amount of challenge for my child is huge. The curriculum is varied, including Spanish, science, art, social emotional learning, PE, and a theater-like session with Kidscape. The physical campus has nice classrooms that each has some slightly different nice features. The outdoor area is not huge but is well maintained and seems adequate for the size of school. The teachers are really engaged and design interesting class material. As an example, my child (who is in one of the younger grades) is currently working on a year-end research project of a major public figure, using both reading and video material to learn more about this figure. This is a culmination of progress made this year in reading and social studies. My child will also get practice in synthesizing and presenting real-world information to her class. Another example is in PE, which could easily be cursory and boring. Instead, the teacher varies the PE curriculum. She used the winter Olympics as a way to create games mimicking different athletic events, which my child enjoyed so much even though she is really not a sports lover. The staff (such as the director and the main admin as the main individuals who interface with the parents) are smart and capable. Interacting with them always makes me think my kids are in good hands. As a non-academic example, my child has some severe food allergies, and all the teachers (not just her homeroom teacher) are great about alerting me ahead of time about any food being offered in the classroom. So there is clearly a policy about this and it's adhered to. Bottom line, my experience has been that Triad is a well-run and organized school that offers excellent, well-rounded programming and has been a great fit for my child. My child truly loves school and really hates when she has to miss due to the occasional illness. I'm hopeful we will have as great of an experience with our (very different) other incoming child!
