Sun Tint is the only company that has tinted every car my family has owned since 1988. I just took my new 2017 Outback, within weeks of purchase, in to get ceramic film and the windshield tinted. As usual, it was done quickly, cleanly, great job and the temperature difference in the car after the tint was installed was clearly noticeable. This is a great business providing a great service--I highly recommend them! read more

Excellent! Just had new car windows tinted -- third time I've brought a car to Sun Tint. They always do an excellent job. High professionalism, great quality, wonderful service, fair pricing. My car looks awesome! Five stars! read more

I've used Sun Tint for two vehicles in the past and recently had them replace a bad tint job on my current car. This is a solid and dependable company that has been around for at least 20 years. Ian, the manager, is very professional, knowledgeable, and provides excellent customer service. We are happy with both the quality and the price. I really cannot say anything critical about Sun Tint. They are experts in tinting. read more

** BEWARE: Manager smoked cigarettes inside my new vehicle then denied having done so!! ** I would be very careful if you decide to take a newer car here for window tinting. When I initially talked to one of the guys here and one of the longer nails on one of his fingers started to break off, prompting him to bite off the nail fully with his teeth since he didn't have access to a nail clipper, I should have taken that as a sign and gotten the hell out of there. This circumstance originally occurred in December, it has taken me almost half a year to get over just what the hell happened. Imagine purchasing a brand new 2015 GTI. Happy with your purchase, you drive the car around Austin all morning after purchasing earlier that evening in the previous day in order to get a feel for it. The first place you take it is SunTint, for some window tinting. The owner, who you had spoken to a couple days prior is out of town. As you wait in the lobby, you are told by the General Manager Heather, that it's taking a little bit longer in order to get the car ready. Meanwhile, two older gentleman who both arrived after me with Tesla's respectively and were dumb enough to bring their cars here, somehow are able to leave sooner. After waiting further, you go outside for a walk. You notice your car being worked on and that very same General Manager and nail biting guy working on the car. She is sitting in the car, and smoking in it! I don't know why I didn't yell and scream at them at that very moment. Ask them "What the **** are you doing, why are you smoking in my new car!" Chalk it up to me being exhausted from that earlier drive, and me being absolutely dumbfounded at the total lack of respect for peoples property that these folks had, but I said nothing and merely observed, and then went back into the lobby. It gets worse. When the car is finally ready, it is tinted. I noticed the sunroof was tilted, and I asked Heather about it. She seemed to get nervous upon being asked, stating that it can be adjusted that way and it was basically done for "style". I'll figure out why she was nervous later that evening when it was cold outside and I needed to warm up the car. As I do so, tons of cigarette smoke pours out of the vents and inside the vehicle! She raised the sunroof because she smoked inside the car and there needed to be a place for the fumes to escape. The door windows were tinted and they couldn't be rolled down! This person took this car for a test drive, or smoked inside it for so long that somehow residual cigarette smoke was able to stay inside the car for a significant amount of time. When I called and asked this person why my car smells like cigarette smoke, she denied any wrong doing. When I told this person I saw her smoking in my vehicle, she stated she did no such thing. When I advised I wanted to speak to the owner, she stated she could understand why. (Oh really?) That owner was still at least a week away from returning. I was so shocked by what had happened I decided it wasn't worth discussing the matter further, that I should take my business elsewhere. Upon telling my brother what had happened, he told me "You should have gone to SunBusters." He was right. I planned to take the vehicle back to SunTint for clear paint protection. I took it to SunBusters instead. The $2000+ dollars I have put towards paint protection and other things such as wrapped wheels and a black roof are giving SunBusters business instead. Best of all, SunBusters doesn't smoke inside your car, drive it around, then deny having done any of those things when called out on it, even if the person making the claim as seen them doing these disgraceful things. When I first took my vehicle to SunBusters and talked with one of the guys there, explaining what had happened at SunTint, a wealthy older gentleman in a new Ferrari told me he has had so many negative experiences there that he only does business with SunBusters now. This review likely won't change anybody's mind as this establishment has been around for decades and there are still lots of people out there dumb enough to give them consistent business. But if it strikes a chord with you, please take care of your property and don't do business with this establishment. If you are done wrong by these people and make the mistake of coming here, have enough personal self respect for yourself try to right the wrong in some form or fashion. But the best thing you can do is avoid this place, and go to a competitor. By the way, it took over four months before the lingering cigarette smoke finally couldn't be noticed. To this day, I have never to by knowledge been so blatantly disrespected by a small business ever, in my life. I will never do business with this establishment again, and will do everything I can to refer people to more reputable places based on this experience. read more

Let me first get two things out of the way: 1) I'm a perfectionist and a general pain in the ass when it comes to little things that might have gone unnoticed and probably are not at all a big deal. 2) My car has really tight window seals and frameless windows that drop a little every time the doors open--a potentially bad mix for just completed window tinting. So, basically, I'm that customer that would drive most window tinting shops to curse me. Admittedly, I didn't tell Heather (the manager) about issue #1 when I stopped in on a Friday to have my tint work done, but we did talk about #2. I selected the advanced ceramic tint and, about 90 minutes later, I was paid up and on my way with everything looking great. The next day (Saturday...Texas/OU weekend) it was raining and I needed to stop at the ATM. Dammit...can't roll down the windows yet. So I pull up at the bank, run to the machine, get my dough, and run back to the car. Of course, water is now all over the door panel and, as I'm wiping it off--not as carefully as I should have been--I hit the switch for the passenger side windows. My girlfriend confirms my fears...I've just pulled the tinting off the bottom of the window. My lovely girlfriend, knowing there's no way I can live with this for more than 20 minutes, agrees to delay our breakfast plans so I can drive up to have the tint repaired. Cut to our arrival at Sun Tint, where Heather informs me that "it's no problem," "it happens often," and they'll "re-do the window right away...no charge." About 45 minutes later, we leave with everything looking great. I'm smiling because I have an amazing girlfriend, there's breakfast tacos in my future, and my tint is fixed (in that order). The next day (Sunday), I happen to notice that the rear passenger window has a small gap between the tint and the trim piece. It's maybe 1/8th of an inch and I actually have to double check a couple times to confirm it's actually there. But now I know it is, so I plan another trip to Sun Tint on Monday morning. Russell, the owner, greets me and after taking a quick look at the gap, tells me he'll replace the tinting, no problem, no charge. I ask if I can pay and he refuses, simply saying that it's their job to get it right. I leave about 45 minutes later, everything looking great. The following Saturday, I head up to Sun Tint because I've noticed some small spots--small enough that I see 'em only when the light is right--near the bottom of the front passenger window and both rear windows. Heather takes a look, confirms that they likely won't go away, and she takes the car in to have the two rear windows re-done. They work on pressing out the tiny bubbles on the front passenger window. This morning, Monday, I make my fourth trip to Sun Tint. I'm not mad...I'm kind of embarrassed and worried that I'm being a prick. I still see spots on the passenger window. Ronnie takes a look and I tell him that I feel horrible for being such a pain and I want them to charge me for removal and replacement of the tint. I've put these guys through enough. Ronnie takes me keys and about an hour later, I'm all set to go. He absolutely refuses to let me pay a dime. Now, here's the thing. Some people might look at this experience and say, "Geez, you had to make four trips to have it all taken care of right." That's not how I see it. Nobody at Sun Tint ever so much as looked at me cross--even when the damage was my fault. Instead, they all smiled, reassured me it was no problem, and went to work fixing things. When I saw tiny bubbles and gaps, other places might have told me I was out of my head or that I should have a certain tolerance for imperfections. The team at Sun Tint never once argued that I was being unreasonable...they just went to work fixing things. And, in all, I probably took up enough of their time and material for two full tint jobs but they only ever charged me for one. That's freaking amazing customer service and, when you get it, it's 5 stars all the way and a customer for life. I think I might go back this Saturday...but this time just to say another thank you in person. read more

I have been a customer of Sun Tint for over 25 years. I still remember the owner Russell was actually putting tint on windows at the small shop on Burnet road. I have referred so many people to Sun Tint and taken all of my vehicles there. If you are looking for quality work at a reasonable prices, I would strongly recommend this place. Sun Tint does control the sun ! Heather, Shop Manager, was extremely helpful, friendly and of the utmost professional in her assistance. The dog Sam has been there since day one. The technicians are well trained and extremely good at windows tint. This a great example of a successful small business in ATX. I look forward to referring and taking my new car to sun Tint. Russell, don't you retire any time soon brother ! read more

Late review, went in last year and told heather i needed the best tint and worker on my car because i planned on showing it. Had to go back 2 more times and there are still issues. Paid 300 plus. Heather is rude and argumentative before even looking at the problem. Real shame because they have done several cars and some commercial work for me. Will not be going back. read more

Just moved to Austin from out of state and had to have my front two windows redone to pass the state safety test. I called and spoke with Russell, and he said they could take care of it today- and they did! Spent maybe 40-45 minutes total here to have my old tint removed and new tint applied. I am so impressed with the exceptional customer service Russell provided, and the work his employees did. Thank you, Sun Tint! I will be bringing any other tint work to you in the future! read more

Just moved to Austin and decide to install a window tint for my car. Before make a decision, I surveyed online and found this one has best review on Google/Yelp... Make an appointment by phone and the staff told me it takes 1h45m~2h to complete the job. The staff recommends me Solar Guard/Ultraperformance tint which costs $350 exclude windshield. This is my first time to leave review on Yelp because I'm really disappointed at the experience here. 1. It takes 3 hours to complete the job which is 1 hour longer than they told me. 2. After I went home, I found there is a cargo cover left in my trunk which is not belong to me. I call back to ask if the technician made mistake and someone lost his part in my car, they told me no. God bless the unfortunate guy... 3. After a week, I think it's OK to roll down the window. And I found there is a squeaking sound as I rolled down/up the front window. Go back to store and let the staff check the problem. She told me it's not caused by tint and she think it's dust or something cause the problem. She suggested me to check in dealer. I'm 100% sure the problem doesn't exist before I installed the tint. 4. The rear windshield has serious glare problem from car's headlight behind me when I drove at night. The staff said she never heard this problem before and the only way she can help me is remove the tint... After all, it's a very bad experience for me here. Very unhappy. Updated on 2016/Oct I just remember I wrote a review about this place several months ago. And I saw a response from the owner and want to response to it. 1. I'm not the guy who ask for re-installation after the tint is installed. I never asked re-installtaion. You may be confused with another guy. 2. The screeching sound of window always exists after more than half year. 3. The extra cargo cover still in my garage. If it's not your fault, I really don't know how I get it .... You have had a lot positive reviews in the past. So I believe you did 99% great job for other people. Unfortunately, I'm the 1% you screw up. Everything in this comment is honest and unbiased review from personal experience. Just want to share my experience to other people. read more

Heard they had a good reputation and they been around since the 1980s. Any business that last this long in Austin speaks for itself. They tinted my windows on my new vehicle within a 2 hour period and it was great workmanship. It was clean and neat work. Will most likely return with my girlfriends car to replace the back window tint that bubbled up. read more

Went up to Fort Worth last week, and drove the family around. Jeez! Every time we got back in the car (Subaru Forester) after stopping for a while, it was so hot inside that the AC was working overtime. It's a fairly new car, and I had been meaning to get the windows tinted. This heat just clinched the deal: I needed to do it. Took it in Saturday morning at smidge before they officially opened at 9 am. The explanation describing the different tints was helpful, and for me it only made sense to go with the super-duper stuff. Didn't get the windshield done this time--may go back for that. But did do the sun roof. Walked down to Thunderbird Coffee (apparently that's what Yelp reviewers tend to do*), worked on email and such for about an hour and a half, and got a call saying the car was ready. Walked back up, and the owner walked me around the car, explaining what he needed to explain (don't roll down the windows for a while, don't clean windows with ammonia, etc), and brought me in to settle up. Here's one thing that stood out: the employees seemed genuinely HAPPY to be at work on Saturday. In the morning! Genuinely. Happy. Reading others' reviews, I'm pretty confident I got a good tint job that will last the lifetime of the car. But I'm sure I dealt with a place that treats people right. It's good to see that these days! *Please note that Sun Tint also has WiFi and coffee, plus a cool house dog. Going to Thunderbird is entirely up to you! read more

They tinted our SUV windows but knocked rear view mirror off windshield. The technician did not tell the front desk person I told her when I saw the mirror on the passenger seat. She walked us back outside and contacted a manager. Desk person came back out and told us "manager said you can take your car to a windshield place to have them fix it or go buy yourself some glue at Auto Zone and glue it back because we don't have anything her to fix it." There was a technician onsite but he was smoking. Quite disturbed by that response and I will be sure to tell all my friends and contacts to avoid this business. Sucks because I always recommend this place to everyone. read more

My poor car was filthy and in need of some serious TLC. I went by Sun Tint to see if it was the place for me. The girl behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. I made an appointment to get my car detailed. They did such an amazing job and my interior looks brand new. Seriously. I was so happy I decided to go back a couple of days later to get my windows tinted and again they did a fantastic job. Both times I've been there they have been super friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend trusting your car to Sun Tint. read more

We recently took our Tundra in for tinting and had a pleasant experience. Prices were a little higher than average but in the case of your vehicle I firmly believe you get what you pay for. There were several tint options included some new thermal types that prevent heat from scorching your car. Welcome to Texas folks!! I deducted one star only because they called us to pick up the truck and mentioned they were closing in ten minutes. It wasn't their fault we were in the middle of lunch across town, but hey, a little warning would have been nice. read more

I had procrastinated getting one window tinted after a break-in a couple years ago. Finally stopped in at Sun Tint and when I told them it was just the driver's side window that needed done they said they could do it right away, no big deal. a friend gave me tinted windows for my car for a b-day present back in 1994...she used Sun Tint for the job and I was pleased with the outcome. fast forward to 2017...I recently lost covered parking at work and a major shade tree at home, so the auto is in direct sun almost all day now. had to do something to help beat the heat. since Sun Tint is only a mile from the house, dropped by to see what they could offer...met the owner (Russell) who was very personable and chatted with another gent (Ian) about products and prices. with Ian's assistance, it only took about 10 minutes to decide on what film and tint levels were best suited my needs. received a very reasonable price quote and booked an appt. took the car in today, got a call 90 min later saying it was ready...when I was settling the bill, Ian said the original quote would be discounted another $30 as a sale price was now in effect! the car looks great and the service I received was outstanding. ps: have no idea why Yelp suddenly thinks I live in SF, CA... read more

I almost never take the time to write reviews unless the service was just over the top or blatently horrible. I have to say falls into the "over the top" category! I recently had the windows in my truck re-tinted at Sun Tint since the old tint was over ten years old and was starting to peal and get ratty looking. The guys were able to get me in on a Saturday and had me out of there within less than an hour so I didn't have to give up much of my weekend. While there, I inquired about doing a couple windows and a sliding glass door at my home since I recently had installed new carpet and the South facing windows were sure to contribute fairly quickly to fading. I was referred to Greg, their home install guy. He was awesome and gave me a fair quote over the phone. I then set up an appointment with Heather for him to come out and do the install. It was refreshing to not be forced into an in-home sales pitch since with the internet it is easy to do research on your own. They use Sun Tek films which are very highly rated. Greg came out to the house right on time and had all four large panes of glass covered in about 1.5 hours. He was very clean and covered all areas of my new carpet in front of the windows where he had to work. I would highly recommend using Sun Tint for any of your tinting needs and especially Greg for residential. The sun in Texas can take a huge toll on carpet and furniture and the Sun Tek Ultra-Vision DS70 material they use will go a long way to helping with heat and fading with very little noticable tint so it won't kill the natural lighting in your home. read more

I'm not exactly sure how to judge a tint place. By my measure, I don't see how it could have gone better. I didn't pass the state safety inspection, cause my tint was a tad bit too dark. I called Sun Tint and they told me it should cost about $90 to replace and would take about 45 minutes, and I could come by anytime. I did just that and they did exactly what they said. Sam the awesome dog will great you at the door....and play catch with his slobbery tennis ball while you wait on the comfy couches. I got caught up on the day's news via the Austin-American Statesman, read great articles in Austin Monthly and even took a 20 minute cat-nap on the couch. Oh yea, and got my windows tinted too!! I did some research around town and this place beat everyone on customer service and price. I got a $20 discount since I'm going to use them to put a clear UV protecting tint on my condo windows. They told me about 2 hours but they were done in about a 1 1/2 hours. I didn't even have time to get out my laptop and take advantage of their free wi-fi. I was glued to the big TV set watching "The First 48" on A&E since they have cable too. The receptionist even offered me some bottled water. Take your car here since we are having 100+ degree heat this week. It will be well worth it. Total cost was under $200 for the mid-range tint.- Debbie read more

Based on the overall great reviews I read on Yelp, I contacted Sun Tint about 3 weeks ago about tinting some of my home windows. I was told the two guys who handle this were out, and that someone would call me. No call ever came. A couple of days ago, I called back and told them no one had contacted me. He took my name and number again, and said someone would call me by the next morning. Well, yesterday came and went, and still no call. Never had a car tinted before, but they were very knowledgable and have some nice demonstrations on how much heat and light is let through at the various levels of tint.
