The folks here are friendly, knowledgeable and keep a decent stock of supplies. Their prices, where not the best in the world, are competitive and I have been buying my supplies from them for the last 8 years.
HOWEVER!!!
It is painfully apparent that the folks here at Sun Pools have forgotten that there are other businesses that sell pool supplies, offer services for pool repairs, cleaning, opening a pool, closing a pool and a variety of custom pool covers. So when I called to set an appointment to have my pool measured for a cover, I was told I would get a call back with the time and date. When that call came, I was told that the guy would be there "Sometime" between "Today and Tomorrow". "Today" was already half over and I was home for the rest of the day anyway, so I was fine with the possibility of the guy coming, but he didn't, nor did I receive a call. The following day ("Tomorrow") , I waited until 1:30 PM and had a bunch of things I needed to get done and needed to leave soon! At this point, I already had two separate quotes for the pool cover from those "Other" pool companies and they both were rather close to one another. So I opted to just cancel the appointment and go with the best quote I had already received from a company that has been around for awhile and did not charge me for coming out to measure the pool and get me a written quote. Which brings me the one of the real issues I had with Sun Pools, charging me $100 that would be removed from the total price if I used them. I had asked that other company why they didn't charge people for the measuring and estimate and was told, "We used to charge also because we found that people would use us to get the measurements and then take them and purchase a cover from an Online company. We stopped charging because it was smarter to just not give the customer the actual measurements afterwards and just give them the quote of how much it would cost."
That was a great, honest and accurate answer and made a ton of sense to me. Sun Pools should take a page from their playbook and offer free estimates and just do not share the AB measurements with the customer, of course unless they were willing to pay for them. They also need to take another page from their playbook and actually give a specific date and time they will be there so I can plan my day accordingly and not just sit around waiting for them to show up... WHENEVER!
I suppose I will still be using them for my pool supplies, as I have always done, but will start comparing what Sun Pools is charging to what this other company charges and will buy from whoever is saving me money! read more
