I want to start by saying this review is based on a pre-stay visit (I was checking this place out for a future stay) - I dropped in Sun Outdoors while staying at another campground in the area. I stopped in at the front office as anyone who is just checking out a campground should do - We were greeted by Karen and she was just wonderful as I explained the purpose of our visit - she described a lot of the amenities and also the online website and suggested calling her directly when we were ready to book our site. After requesting a drive-through she graciously opened the gate to allow us to explore the campground on our on and it goes without saying we were respectful of the posted speed limits and the campers and their campsites. This is a very spacious campground that can accommodate all sizes of RVs, I loved that there are some rustic sites as well as large drive-through paved sites - there are some very nice facilities including a large club house and pool. The entrance off of Route 207 is very accessible and there is plenty of room to get into your site no matter which one you choose or what size rig you have. This is definitely a campground I'll stay at during a future visit to the St. Augustine area, there are a lot of good things going on here, a very friendly and accommodating staff, a very clean and well maintained campground and it's in close proximity to downtown... read more

Very nice RV Resort. More than half the spaces are nicely done pavers. Very flat and clean. We appreciate no rocks or dirt getting in the RV. Beautiful grounds. Very nice and responsive staff. Our cable didn't work, but there is a good chance it was our fault. Great location near the old town area of St Augustine. We definitely recommend it. read more

I came here to visit my dad for The Weeknd. It's pretty to get into the gate. If you're staying in. With the card. The staff is friendly. The bathrooms arnt too bad.the water temperature is great the floors a little gross but just sandy really. Very roomy. They also have a trail activities. Concerts and more. I loved. The camp fires and of course where my dad stayed you can walk around no problem. And the guest are friendly as well there's walking distance to stores. The city isn't too far at all there's a lot to do. You would never get bored so relaxing. This is defiantly the best camp ground around for sure. Me: RV'er since 1993 in every class of RV. First stay at Sun Outdoors was 1997. Most recent was May 2024. My most recent stay was great and perfect as always! I regret it was also too short and I would love to have stayed much longer....but that'll be for my next visit. The Number #1 reason this park is so good and gets my 5-stars is...spoiler alert, ask a real estate agent what are the top three things that matter most for properties...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! If you're staying in Saint Augustine, this is the one! It's close to everything. Very close to all things in St. Augustine, easy-easy access from I-95, and easy access arriving or departing the park with no complicated intersections that compete with other businesses. Feeling safe and safety, is something very important to me...we always felt very safe on every time we stayed here. If the heat is an issue, the park has plenty of shade to keep you cool from massive and beautiful live oak trees. A beautiful pool that is also heated in cooler months. An awesome club house that is great for the RV Rallies. Some pretty good live music on the weekend and tasty food trucks too. Plenty of activities to keep everyone happy and the restrooms are always super clean. The historic district is close and quick to get to, there's something for everyone there, even someone like me living in Florida all my life. But if you're on a vaca, or just a weekend tourist...Sun Outdoors RV Park is the Jackpot for everything, food, shopping, site seeing, and you can also be on the beach in a very quick 12 minute drive to get your toes in the beach sand and ocean water. But I also give high marks to Sun Outdoors St Augustine, not only for what the park and the area offers...but for the Staff. All of them, including the office staff, event coordinator, escorts, maintenance crew and hospitality services - they are the sticky stuff that keeps everything running smoothy. Super friendly and helpful. The staff is like my extended family when I stay here. No matter if only for a night or all season, you get great customer service, helpful suggestions about everything in and out of the park. We stayed here for one night. It was $75 total which wasn't to terribly bad. We ended up leaving Anastasia State Park and wanted to camp for one more night before heading home since we weren't that far from home to begin with. We rode our bikes around and noticed a lot more campers were towards the back of the park. We did see a few Grand Design campers. We made use of the pool when we could in between rain showers. I think if we left yesterday to go home, we wouldn't have been able to clean out the camper and get everything prepped for our next trip. The RV park is nice. Lots of spaces were available and I'm pretty shocked how many empty spots there were. We couldn't get an extra day in at Anastasia because of no availability so we decided to come here. It was reasonable and everywhere else we've tried they wanted more money or at least a 2 night minimum. read more

I spent 3 nights in late September this year. I had an AMAZING experience. My boyfriend and I were heading up to Jacksonville the weekend prior and decided to stop in and see if we could tour the grounds to see what we were in for. Both ladies at the front office were very nice and accommodating. Check-in was a breeze. We didn't even have to get out of our vehicle. We stayed at site 85 which is a back-in site that has full hookup, not all sites do. Our site had a concrete pad as well, not all do. I recommend staying at one that does. They keep the bugs and ants away. The grounds are beautifully kept. The bathroom areas are up to date, they have a basketball hoop, pool that looks ADA compliant, ping pong table, fire pits, walking trails and 2 dog parks. My one and only grip, which is very small, is that the picnic table in the small dog park needs some attention. If you get a chance, walk through their back section and check those bathrooms out. They are the nicest bathrooms I have seen on at a "campground." My boyfriend and I did our research and knew which sites we did not want. I suggest you do the same so you aren't on top of someone. I was extremely impressed and HIGHLY recommend staying at Compass. I will definitely be back if I am in the area again. read more

My in laws stay here with their RV and my wife and I go up to visit. It's a pretty big park, a lot of spots for RVs of any size. They have a couple of small house that you can rent. They also have a storage yard if you needed to store your RV or camper there. It's gated, they have on site laundry machines and a gym which is pretty cool. The park is really clean, one of the cleanest I have ever seen. They have private bathroom/showers, every time I go to one to shower, it's spotless, it's always clean, it's a great combo of good housekeeping and good people. They have a pool, they have some events every once in a while. They are located pretty close to the city, and there's a dollar general you can walk to that literally has everything you would need for daily use. Overall, great place to stay if you're in the area. read more

Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The bathrooms/laundry facilities were clean. Not a lot of bugs. Sites are roomy. However they literally put us next To the bathroom. This should not be a spot. 1. Bright lights 2. People walking by all night 3. You can't pull the trailer back unless you have (3) sewer hoses Because of location. We couldn't use our sewer. No one is wearing mask but staff. If your concerned with covid, mask are not enforced. You can hear heavy road traffic. If we stayed again I would Oh the extra money to pick a better spot. read more

Always a great time here. Saturday morning coffee and donuts in the club house. Music later that night. The upgrades keep amazing us. The pool is coming along well. The park is now gated and secure. There is a shuttle bus to take you into town and Uber picks up at the office, it's cheaper and easier then parking in St. Augustine. The dog park is clean and well kept as well as lighted. The staff is great and the owners are hands on. We will be back, it's our local escape. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this RV resort. We had a pull through spot up front by the pool which was perfect for our family. Normally I don't like being near the clubhouse, but it was great for what we needed over our 3 day stay. There were lots of kids for our little girl to play with and fun kids activities like craft making, tie dye, s'mores by the campfire, ice cream social, camp-wide scavenger hunt and camp breakfast (& I want to add a special thank you to Melissa for making our little girl feel special for all of these events). The property is very well-kept. There are other areas that are more private than the clubhouse area that are also very beautiful. The fitness center is very well-kept and clean...I was very happy to have a campground with a fitness center!! The playground is just right. check in was the easiest we have ever experienced. We are already talking about our return trip and also looking at their other properties for future trips. read more

We stayed a week, the park was clean and kept up nicely. Our dog really enjoyed the 2 dog parks. Staff was friendly and went out of their way to help. However, our only complaint is the WiFi, we actually paid and it was just as bad as the free WiFi. Our last night several campers came In beside us after 10 pm and spent several hours setting up their camp with leaf blowers and drills to level their campers. Personally, I wish campgrounds, would limit this type of noise after a certain hour. read more

Wonderfully surprised by this RV resort. Very clean with a great staff. The sites were well maintained with a lot of room. We stayed in the back where the sites were paver sites. Some sites were dual sites where you can have two campers. (Be careful of the speed bump going to the back area. I grinded my hitch jack going over it. Other campers told me they did too. There was a pool and live band the weekend we went. There was also a scavenger hunt. A calendar showed all days had something planned. Corn hole, basketball, multiple pet areas, and a small fishing pond. Very much worth the stay. Just minutes from downtown St Augustine. It is also gated and you have to have a pass to get in. There are security cameras throughout. Also there is a dollar tree just outside the entrance. Bathrooms were individual bathrooms with shower. Clean and roomy. read more

The accommodations are fine. Their policies suck. Their "policies" are in very fine print. We prepaid the entire bill. Almost $2200. After we got there we advised the staff we had bought a house in the St. Augustine area and we would be leaving the site earlier. 10 days early. We actually didn't realize at that time we had paid in full. The staff said fine and that we could settle up when we left. So, can you imagine my surprise when I went in office to "settle" they told me that I was paid in full (not explained previously). Every time we talked to them it was the same phrase "we would settle in full" when we checked out. Nope, we prepaid, no refund. We were in the premier spot at the park. #69. It wouldn't take any effort to fill the spot and refund our money. Instead they will leave the spot vacant for 10 days. This is the busiest time of the year, and if I remember correctly, the park is at capacity. Bottom line, we were beyond disappointed that we kept hearing we could "settle" when we left. There apparently no exceptions to their "policies" that are written in fine print. We overpaid almost $700. That's a lot of $$ to us. Renters... beware! read more

Reserved a site back in October, 2022 in the back section. When we arrived, we had been moved to the very front, but worse than that it was site 28-right by the front gate and rear gate. People drove past non stop with gate creaking open each time. We paid $122.43 each night and the office staff said, well you should have paid the $50 optimize fee to secure the site you chose. Lack of empathy was not her strong suit and no, we aren't crazy not to want to pay even more for a site. Noise from the highway was deafening. They advertise high speed Wi-Fi but it was so terrible we had to use our hot spot. Verizon cell was terrible and our calls kept dropping. We have shared with friends and family our dissatisfaction with Sun Outdoors and will not stay at their properties in the future. We are full time RV'ers and this has been our worst experience in all our travels. read more

We stayed for the weekend amid the pandemic. The pool was open the games and play ground was open. The campground is super clean and inviting there are some smal trails. My kids loved it. A quick car ride to the down town or use the trolley that picks up there. read more

Spent 5 days at Compass with the Facebook group "Travel Trailer Life" rally. The staff is friendly and helpful. They lead you directly to your site. The park is dog friendly, very clean and has a beautiful club house and meeting area. We were in site 80 which provided a nice shady spot. All sites seem level and of adequate size. Not all have concrete pads. They provide a free shuttle to St Augustine. They are currently adding additional sites and I understand a pool which will make the location perfect for summer time camping. read more

Really nice RV park. Sites are roomy, mostly level, some on pavers. Some are in full sun, some partly shaded. Should call to reserve the type of site you want instead of booking online. We accidentally booked a "buddy" site, two sites together, but luckily no one booked the other part of it. Bathrooms, showers and laundry were all excellent, clean, air conditioned. COMPASS RV 05-24-17 THRU 05-25-17 ST AUGUSTINE FL Wasn't Impressed I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Not impressed with our site and not at all like pictures some other campers posted. Also lots of other raving reviews, but I had completely different experience; maybe cuz we were in the "outdated" section of the grounds in site #3. We did get close to the restroom/showers as requested; they were clean and tidy and ok although could use updating - checkout my photos. Wish they had paper towels for use to clean up area around the sinks - very messy and no shelves or hooks nearby to hang towels or your stuff. Showers had floor mats when you dried off; a + so you didn't have to stand on wet floor; hooks for your towels and clothes, so overall good. The grounds were in need of cosmetic fix up. It rained and our site had no gravel to absorb water. Instead the covering was a seashell type mixture and you constantly dragged it in the RV on bottom of your feet; even had a camper mat outside but it didn't help much; also needed a new picnic table; it was old and needed TLC. Just not a pleasing atmosphere at our site albeit the sites were spacious and wide. I would still not return but find an alternative next time. I did post 4 pictures of the site was stayed at #3, and read other reviews about the improvements in other areas of the park, but my review was focused on area where we stayed. read more

Compass RV Resort is outstanding. They are a cut above your average RV park. They accept Good Sam club discount (10%) or senior citizens discount. The bathrooms are spotless. The grounds are well maintained and clean. From the looks, it seems lots of effort is placed in maintaining the resort. There is nothing run down. The pool is heated and very clean. This park has more amenities than I could shake a stick at. I came in after hours (office closed at 5pm) yet a staff person came by and guided me to a lot. This is really nice for travellers who come in late after a long day and nights drive. There is a radio to contact the staff after hours. I highly recommend Compass RV Resort. We have stayed at this park a few times. Never had any problems. Nice park and good location. I just called to change a reservation and make a new one. It has been bought out and it has changed. A booking under a 7 night stay has to be paid in FULL and cancelation costs you $200!!!! Or amount paid if cancelled too close to dates booked! That sucks. We will not be going back or reccomending it to anyone. We have told tons of campers about it before...no more. Big business slapping us in the face again. Disgusted. read more

The location could not have been better!! Just far enough of the tourist "sand trap" downtown yet close to multiple restaurants, shops, gas stations, mechanics, tool shops, and you name it, it's close by. Stayed 2 days/3 nights right close to the entrance across from the pool, live music entertainment space and breakfast/dining room. They have breakfast for purchase at $5 on Saturday. A buffet of several egg baked (which were comprised of egg, sausage or ham, potato hash and cheese). These little bad boys were cut in cubes so as to allow guests to serve themselves at will. And boy were they good!! They also provided fresh varieties of coffees, teas, several fruits (2 types of melons, apples, bananas, strawberries, grapes), bagels with assortment of cream cheeses, French toast. All accompanied by the friendliest and most helpful staff you'd hope to find! This was served from 8-11am or when the goodies run out, and it's best to go early specially depending on how packed the park gets, because their breakfast is great! Not only that, but Saturday nights they bring in live music!! Based on the website, seems to be different every Saturday give or take but the day I was there, we had a BLAST! A duo delighted us with songs from the 60s & 70s, and the crowd gathered with their chairs, coolers and pets. The singer went to each and every single person (as he was singing mind you) to greet every guest that came out for fun that night. Needless to say we danced up a storm! Oh! Also, there's a convenient Dollar General right outside the park, and they provide wood for the fire pits!! All the amenities are cared for, clean, and the staff are super friendly. Fast, dependable wifi and many cable channels. Many old Florida Oak trees with lots of shade. While not a KOA camoground its as nice as anyone I've ever been in. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Only 4-5 miles to historic downtown St Augustine. read more

This is an upcoming going to be awesome park! The new owner has plenty of ideas and has things moving along construction of pool and sites is a going to be a great one. Just we were there after Hurricane Irma went through and clean up had been done. We only stayed one night as we were passing through, but we were impressed. I thought a bit pricey as nothing was done yet, but he has built new showers and laundry facilities that are nice. I loved the fact they have the entertainment on Saturday nights. We didn't see but read about it. We will definitely use this park as we pass through to and from our South Florida home. The best one we have found so far! This RV park is the closest RV park to downtown St Augustine about 3.75 miles it's had a ton of upgrades we only spent one night but everything worked away was supposed to and there was security gates at the front that you needed a office issued pass to get in and out will be back. At first I thought this was a great place. But... it says it is dog friendly but good luck finding enough grass for your dog to poop in! There are so many mosquitoes it is crazy! The dog parks are in the trees areas that are infested with mosquitoes and quite possibly snakes although I never saw any because I refused to go into the tree area. They ordered poop stations with bags but not there yet. Caution: we had to leave a day early and no refund of prepaid. read more

Spur of the moment we decided to visit St Augustine with our friends. Calling last minute I knew would be hit or miss but they made it happen. We both have toy haulers and need a large pull through. Our sites were easy access and very roomy. It was a surprise to us that when we pulled in someone was waiting for us and all the paperwork was completed. Check in took less than 5 minutes. We were escorted to our site, directed in, hookups and cable were then explained. All of these "little" things when driving a large Class A mean a lot and are very helpful. Every staff member we ran into was friendly and helpful. The weekend we were there the campground was hosting a breakfast cooked by the staff. For $3 you could have all you can eat pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, tea, etc. All this served with a smile and lots of friendly banter. That evening there was a campfire and live music. A fun night! There are new owners and they are making great improvements. Everything is of high quality that has been done. We were joking with them as we checked out that we weren't going to tell anyone about this place so there would never be a problem getting a site. We will definitely return to Compass RV Park. read more

New owners are doing a great job of sprucing up the park. Pads have been rocked and leveled, patios added on numerous larger sites, bathrooms are Resort level clean. Big rigs with toads should be careful on a few of the outer sites listed as pull through, since trees are abundant and not easy to negotiate. Just a few minutes from downtown it was a breeze to get back and forth. We wish them luck and look forward to stopping by again. read more

Fantastic,beautifully landscaped park-spotless bath/showers..accomondating/knowledgeable staff..stayed 30 days 12/2016 and quality never changed-added many new activities (pancake breakfasts/hot dog nite/exercise classes) to the weekly live entertainment(5 stars for variety/selection for "boomers")..cameras thru out the grounds ,carefully placed "streetlights" and electronic gates provide more than adequate security. beautiful RV park--like a gated community. staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. never been to an RV park that had continental breakfast (small fee, $3) and ice cream socials~! nice perk! plus a shuttle into downtown Saint Augustine for the trolley tours--worth the price if you dont have a toad or dont want to pay for parking. beautiful park with hiking trail, laundry facilities (including pet laundry!), elaborate puppy patch and patio/common areas. part of the park is under construction--more spaces being built, plus pool and fitness center (as of July 2017). prices very fair, will be back! read more

Just visited Compass RV Park in St. Augustine, FL. 50 Amp, Full Hook ups, gravel sites, nice pull thrus, friendly staff, very helpful. Close to beaches, World of Golf. Good cable reception. Nice trees, but not good for satellite, our site was good for satellite reception. Pool is being built. Have buddy sites, good for family and friends. Gave 4 stars because of ant piles, not good for pets. Would stay again at this RV Park. read more
