What a great local family Business for 39 years in Sparks. A Five Star Customer Service Experience for me today. I met owners Patty and son Pat. I have been looking for a Spa for myself, for a while now and I have checked out many spa companies in the area. Sun Leisure Pools and Spas have been doing business here since 1984. The prices for their Marquis Spas were very fair. Many price ranges for whatever you are looking for as well as above ground and built in pools and swim spas. They have everything you could want in a pool or spa and a NV contractors license as well. I have a little area for a 7 ft Marquis Spa. A 2 year Warrenty cones with the Spa as well as an easy lift cover. Sun Leisure Pools and Spas will stand by their products. This is a family owned and operated company, which I love. I submitted my inquiry online and Patrick responded in a timely manner, and we set up a time for him to come out and see the yard. He was on time, prepared, professional, and a true expert. They have been doing this for decades and it shows!  He was so patient with my million questions on that day, and for the months that followed.  He went over all our options and prepared a detailed quote that included all the services needed to do the job in FULL. They literally handle everything.  Be careful of other companies that require you to subcontract things like plumbing, electrical and even the crane used to bring the pool in! It ends up a logistical nightmare to plan everything. If you want a company to handle the entire thing (and handle it perfectly) - Sun Leisure is your best bet, by far! Patty, Terry, Brad, and the rest of the crew were phenomenal too. Everyone was so nice, knowledgeable, respectful of property and an absolute joy to work with. Our pool is complete, and before Spring! It's perfect in every way and we cannot recommend them enough.  They were even able to recommend a great landscaper that does the coping pavers around the edge of the pool. I learned this is a specialized thing and the landscaper they recommended (Abel's Landscaping) - does most of this specialized work around the pools they install. IS zero stars good? They have taken $6000 from us since December while assuring us a hot tub would be delivered in May. They never contacted us and I have asked more than a dozen times and every time they said "May." It's almost September and they don't give a hoot or a holler. There's a Marquis dealership in North Lake Tahoe. They told me this company has lied to many people. read more

We had an in-ground vinyl liner pool installed by this company 9 years ago. They stated that we would have to replace our liner every 8-10 years. Well, while opening our pool, we noticed a hole in the liner (normal wear and tear) We ordered a new one and started to prepare to change it out (Sun Leisure said they couldn't install it until next year. Mind you, it was April, that meant the pool would not open for an entire year) while draining the pool (something that has to happen to replace a liner) the walls began to cave in with dirt and rocks along with our beautiful paver patio. After doing some research with Doughboy we discovered that they did not install our pool properly which not only ruined our $25,000 pool and patio, it voided our lifetime warranty with Doughboy. The instructions clearly state that a cement slurry MUST be installed around the walls of a below grade pool 24" or deeper, ours was 6ft deep, to prevent a cave in during liner changes. We scheduled an appointment with the owners to talk about the situation. For 15 minutes they sat there and gave excuses as to why they are not responsible, one being "you never asked for a cement slurry" excuse me? We hired YOU to install a pool correctly not half a***d to save yourself buck. I haven't the slightest idea how to install a pool or the requirements to do so, that's why we hired them. We spent $20,000 for this pool and 9 years later, we end up with a gigantic, smelly, muddy pit in our backyard. We have started the process of filing a lawsuit against them as well as hired a REPUTABLE pool company to install our NEW pool (yep, it was so bad, we had to start all over) BEWARE of this company. I would've had way more respect for Sun Leisure if they had just taken responsibility for their error and just came back and fixed it. But the display of arrogance and excuses we received while talking to them was disgusting. It was like talking to a shady used car salesman. Shame on them! read more

Called these guys out to fix what I basically knew was a heating element tripping my breaker. They came out and verified a bad heating element and said it'd be about $180.00 or something when replaced. Then out of no where he says i have a bad motor and it needs to be replaced and its going to be about $1,000.00 and I said don't bother fixing anything. Sent them on their way. I knew he was full of manure because everything ran fine until the heat kicked in. I Got a bill for a service call for $120.00. No problem. I called Reno Spa and Don came out, replaced the heating element, and there was no other issue. No bad motor and no $1,000.00 bill. Sun leisure was going to rip me off!! I wouldn't trust these guys if they were the last repair company in town. If i could give them a negative i would and i certainly hope people read this. If you do call them out you need to stand over them and verify everything. What a pain and why would you call these guys out when you know if they can they'll rip you off. Save your money, frustration, and time. Call anyone else except these guys. read more

I would love to give this business a better rating. We went in to the store in April to inquire about a new fiberglass pool. They were very helpful and friendly. They let us know they were about a year out for installs which was fine with us. They took our name and number and told us they would call in a week or two to schedule an appt to survey the space and get an appraisal. That was almost 4 months ago and we have called 3 different times and left messages and still have not heard back. I can just assume they didn't want our business. read more

Called to order a new Marquis Spa...they were very hesitant to deliver to South Lake Tahoe. Emailed them a couple times and never heard back...guess they don't want the business. Called Cal X Fun Spa in Roseville and they had a custom Marquis spa delivered from the factory in 10 days to my house. read more

We have had our Marquis for four months now and we absolutely love it! Working with Patrick and telling him our needs he was able to guide us to the spa that would be best for us and now that we have had it for awhile he was right. We are so happy we went to Sun Leisure! Customer service is awesome and everyone that works there are so nice. No pressure what so ever. These folks have always treated me well. They are knowledgeable, responsive, friendly and care about their customers. Treat them with respect and they will more than reciprocate. Their technician, Kirk, has repaired my hot tub three times now from a myriad of issues. He is a genuine hot tub whisperer. He is a very detailed troubleshooter, knows what he is doing. If you need your hot tub/spa repaired he is your guy. Can't recommend this company or Kirk highly enough. Very Satisfied, and will use them again in the future. read more

Came out on 3rd appointment( wrong day, called in sick). Decided needed new pump, told him to order it. Shows up to replace it...wrong size pump. "My mistake, rare size". Went to see owner, not much better result. I found pump online, asked if thet would order or should I. Shw said I should. I said "if I did they would NOT be doing the work". We have used Sun Leisure Pools to open & close our pool pretty much ever since we got our pool installed 7 years ago. It has always been a decent experience for the most part. Do I wonder exactly how knowledgeable Patti is with pool chemicals? Yes. But I appreciated their proximity to my location and that they have a brick & mortar where I can get chemical in addition to using their service department. Unfortunately, their service guy winterized our pool improperly last year. That isn't a huge deal until you take into account how I was treated by Patti when I called to let her know what had happened. In summary, they didn't put the filter valve in WINTERIZE mode or remove the pressure gauge from the filter valve last fall. That caused water to freeze inside the valve, which cause a leak at the connection of the gauge to the valve. The filter valve is a little over $100 and a new gauge was $15. I first had my husband, a business owner himself (professional plumber to be exact) call them to explain what happened. Patti immediately went into defense mode and essentially told my professional plumber husband the finer points of brass pipe, valves, etc. I found that amusing in an insulting kind of way. She absolutely would not hear him about what had happened or his thoughts behind why it happened. Needless to say, my husband hung up and told me forget it - we'll buy our own valve & gauge. Being the ever persistent person I am, I decided I could talk some sense into Patti. WRONG. I called & tried to explain what happened. Patti basically gave me an incorrect lesson on plumbing (she believes freezing water inside brass pipe can't break the pipe - I have a whole lot of freeze damaged hose bibbs to show her some day). She insisted the filter valve could be left in bypass all winter (even though her guys had never left it in that position before last fall) and the pressure gauge was irrelevant - they apparently can't possibly freeze. Curious thought process. She flat refused to hear me when I suggested that everyone makes mistakes sometimes and good customer service would be to acknowledge her guy may possibly have erred in his closing of our pool. She said they've been in business for 30 (or something) years and she knows what customer service is - she didn't need my advice. Maybe I caught her on a bad day. Maybe she really does believe a valve can drain itself. Maybe she missed out on physics the day they taught about expansion & contraction. Who knows. What I do know is that I would never argue with a customer like she did over something so easy to repair. My customer service thought process is a long-term one. Customers are a valuable asset to a small business owner. I appreciate, nurture, and respect them. Patti could certainly use a lesson in that. What I don't think about anymore is shopping at or using Sun Leisure for anything. The way I figure it, our piddly $1,000 a year average at their store clearly won't be missed. And when those big ticket items roll around (re-tiling, new filter, new heater, etc), they don't want my money anyway. They obviously have plenty of other customers to fill their bank account. Leslie's Pool Supplies is our new supplier of all things pool, including that new salt system we purchased this year. They have the knowledge, stock, AND customer service dialed in. read more

I would absolutely recommend Sun Leisure Pools! I went through them for a heater for an above ground pool. I wanted to make sure I was ordering the correct power and size for my pool. When I needed to have a special adapter made because of a space error (not SLP fault) they went out of the way to help even though it was an inexpensive part. We went to literally every hot tub company in the Reno/Sparks area and hands down Sun Leisure Pools was the best. Not only are they well informed about their products, but they do not try to up sell you. They answered all our questions and concerns. We took a week to think about what hot tub we really wanted, then went back and made the purchase. The delivery process was painless and once we had power running to the hot tub, Patrick came right over to give us a much needed tutorial on how to enjoy our new hot tub and balance the chemicals for us. These guys are awesome. The service is precise, friendly and reasonably priced. Although it was a pricey fix to replace the control board (parts cost) on my hut tub, the technician Kirk, went well above my expectations to diagnose the initial cause for the board failure and gave me information on how to remedy the problem. Amazing people!!! I used to use another company. Long story short we had a sick hot tub and called the other guys as we bought our spa from them. They sent a tech out the first time who said our spa was junk. We just bought it for 12k and they are saying it is junk. The day before I was going to take a chain saw to it to get it out I decided to call the other guys one more time. This time they I actually talked to the guy and having an extensive background in electronics in a 10 min conversation I knew he was clue less so I let him finish his diagnostic and he had a list with over 3k in parts. Then I called Sun leisure pool and spa they sent a guy out the next day and 30 min of looking he had it fixed. Turned out to be a bad flow switch and a fuse. They are amazing people and very friendly and professional. Will never use anyone other then them. And I advise you to use them as well. ABSOLUTE DO NOT RECOMMEND Sun Leisure!! We had a horrific experience with them recently. They would schedule appointments with us and then cancel two hours after the appointment time or not show up at all. When they finally did show up to open our pool, after 4+ cancelations/no shows, the employee they sent to our home was late to our appointment and was completely clueless regarding our pool and cover. He was rude and extremely condescending when speaking to us. I have never in my life experienced worse customer service. I actually ended up opening and cleaning the pool by myself, for the first time ever, using only some internet research-this company couldn't even accomplish that!!! PLEASE save yourself the time and money and find an actual legitimate, professional pool company!! I will NEVER use this company ever again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Bottom line this company has zero customer service, rude and inexperienced/uninformed staff members, no call/no showed on appointments with customers, just not how a successful business should run in my opinion. I had a great experience with Sun Leisure. Everyone I dealt with was helpful, professional and friendly. I tend not to use repair services because we repair things ourselves. I knew we were a little out of our comfort zone when our spa developed a leak. I searched the internet for a spa repair service and was a little hesitant to go with Sun Leisure because of a few negative reviews. Since most spa repair companies had some negative reviews, I decided to go with Sun Leisure because of their proximity to my home. Unfortunately, my repair request came at a very busy time, but Patty was helpful and got me scheduled for a week from the day I called. Kirk was on time, friendly and knowledgeable. He quickly identified and fixed the problem in no time. Because the spa was nearly empty and would take an hour or so to fill, I told Kirk it was okay to leave. After the spa filled, the ozonater and heater did not work. THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REPAIRS KIRK DID. I called Sun Leisure at the end of the day and they immediately scheduled Kirk to come back the next morning. Again, he was able to identify the problem quickly, got the part and fixed the spa. When I received the invoice in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was not charged for the anticipated 2 service calls. Rather, I was only charged for the actual total time of each call combined. What a welcome surprise! Sun Leisure will be the ones I call if/when I need another spa service.
