Three tables with customers, no one at the formerly packed bar. That is what happens when you nickel and dime people. The cost to a business for a cup of soda is pennys, but the new owners of the Sun have decided no free refills. Give customers a smaller cup, fill it with ice, over price it, and no free refills.... This is our fourth or fifth time ordering takeout, it is a half hour drive each way for us. When we got home found our chicken fingers were pink and chewy inside and the batter was undercooked as well. Chicken wings were pink inside. The manager said she would give us a credit for the chicken fingers however, if we wanted a refund for the chicken wings we needed to bring them in as no one else had complained today about undercooked chicken. Explained again to the manager It is a half hour drive each way for us it's the end of the day and we were unable to eat any of the chicken. She said she was busy and hung up on me. Went here for my granddaughter's sixth birthday for family dinner. Overall, a good place. Food was nice and clean and everybody enjoyed it. The atmosphere was just right. It wasn't fancy at all but seemed clean. It was very casual and we weren't concerned if the kids wandered around a little it was very laid-back. The waitress took care of all of our needs, and she was very busy and worked very hard. The bathroom definitely needed some attention. Service was lacking at first. These people were clearly overwhelmed by the crowd from the Thirsty Pilgrim beer festival. So I hunted down a waitress after waiting 10 minutes and convinced her to wait on us. Once she started taking orders, things improved, though we did wait 15 min for drinks after we ordered. The food came out much faster than the drinks. It was nice and hot. It was my first time there and I had no complaints about the food. We had Chinese tacos (moo shi pork), sesame chicken, pork fried rice, and a pu pu platter for 2, which really feed at least 5 people. We continue our search for good Chinese take out to no avail:( We ordered orange chicken and asked for all "white" meat chicken and said we'd pay more in order to get this. "No problem" was the response. What we got was an order of chicken pieces that were over cooked, NOT white meat for sure. Some of the pieces were so chewy they were inedible, which then made the dish hard to consume for fear of what you'd bite in to. The Marco Polo dish (we requested it over lo mein instead of crispy noodles) and Four Happiness dishes were just okay. What happened to giving white rice with the aforementioned 2 dishes? This is the first time that no rice was included in any of our other take out restaurants...sort of like getting a burger without a bun. read more

I don't know what it is. I never have bad experiences at places with typically bed reviews. Maybe it's because my expectations are SO low, who knows. Anyways no complaints here. My TOGO food was done in ten minutes which was awesome. The lady checking me out was nice and friendly. Everything was fresh and hot and tasted pretty good. My only complaint was the beef and broccoli had a seafood taste, so I would definitely skip that next time. I walked to Sun Dynasty and went in to use the bathroom before ordering. I had walked a few miles so I REALLY needed to go to the bat. As I washed my hands one of the staff was standing in the doorway staring at me. as I walked past her she started yelling at me about using the bathroom and how it wasn't nice of me. I said, I was going to order something." she said, "I don't think so" and I said back to her with an annoying tone, "I don't think so? Food was average, but what really ticked me off was I was notified today by my bank asking if I left a 31% tip. Well NO I didn't leave any tip as this was TAKE OUT. So it seems that Sun Dynasty added on a 31% tip to the bill after I signed the credit slip without my knowledge. Then they won't discuss it on the phone when I tried to contact them. I called my bank and that $6.00 is refunded back to me. This is out right theft.!!!! Check your statements to your credit card statement online is my advise. This is one of the cleanest and nicest Chinese places in all of Plymouth. The staff there is absolutely great and they're always willing to do anything for you to make you happy. The food has great flavor and the drinks taste amazing as well. Please note they do close early on Fridays and Saturdays but it's understandable since most people are going to a show or going out to dinner until 9 o'clock. In fact, it seemed like the same brown sauce was on the Lo Mein and vegetables both my wife and I ordered. The service is downright rude. I asked if rice was included with vegetable-only dishes after the food was served, with the intention of ordering some if that was not the case. We were scolded that we already had Lo Mein (for the kids) and didn't need it, so we didn't order any, feeling a bit speechless. One of my favorite places to eat delicious Chinese food in Plymouth. The scorpion bowl drink is so good and has a lot of alcohol for your buck, so a good deal and it'll get you buzzed. Grubhub cancelled my order after messaging me about the order being placed, in delivery, etc. Grubhub is lying to us, this restaurant cannot take orders from Grubhub. I called the Sun Dynasty directly. They explained the situation, and how they had been damaged by Grubhub in the recent past. I placed my order, picked it up myself. Ordered the orange chicken with fried rice and rangoons. The orange chicken was okay, not the greatest but not the worst. The fried rice was completely inedible. The rice was disgustingly bland, like zero taste, and the pork tasted undercooked and rubbery. I felt really nauseous after a few bites of the fried rice and decided not to risk eating more in fear of getting food poisoning. The rangoons were so so. Not the greatest but not the worst. We came here for dinner prior to a show at Plymouth Memorial Hall. It was a choice of convenience, since the restaurant is essentially in back of the Hall. We were hesitant due to the lack of reviews and so-so rating. We weren't disappointed. Ready seating with no wait. Decent if not perfect service. An extensive if not unusual menu. We chose a house special which was an odd combination of lo mein topped with stir fry topped with fried appetizers. It was tasty and well prepared with fresh ingredients, and generous enough to serve two for dinner with some leftovers to take home for a lunch. We'd go again. Might make it up to 4 stars if we have more good experiences there. read more

I'm so glad I found the Sun Dynasty after the bad path I was going down. For years I'd go to the cemetery off Samoset st and visit my father Bill Sheetz, who died at the 99 restaurant in 2003, and we'd have a drink. He loved whiskey so every week I'd bring a 750 of bourbon and two glasses for me and him to enjoy! What started out as innocent and the sharing of a fond memory with my dad turned dark when I'd start getting OBLITERATED alone in the cemetery because I'd drink the whole 750. Sometimes I'd even bring a blender, hook it up to my car battery and make margaritas. I was bad. I'd steal flowers and momentous off of the surrounding gravesites and bring them home. I hit a realization that I was out of hand when I tripped over tombstone and broke my femur (Damn you Paul Tanner 1921-2002). Enough was enough, I drove a mile or so down the road and discovered the Sun Dynasty. Thank god. I now regularly go on Fridays and enjoy a pu pu platter for 2 (me and dad) and 2 scorpion bowls. The one time visit did not make me a fan. The location is very conveniently located to the public parking lot. After a 4 hour whale watching session we were hungry while walking back to the car and this was right next to the car so we decided to take a chance. A lot of people seemed to be heading into the restaurant. Good location, big space, nice long windows to allow sunlight in, however we were seated on the side without the windows so it was kind of dark. The service was quick and friendly. Bathrooms are dirty but I imagine it's because they probably get a lot of people.. Still one tip I would offer is to hire someone to clean it more often during down times. The least you could eliminate a bad rep for is having a dirty bathroom. On to the food: Bread: okay, not stale or hard but sort of out of place Mushroom and egg dropped soup: the mushrooms seemed like they were from a can and didn't do anything for the soup. I ended up avoiding them. Fried chicken wings: these were decent. Crispy outside and moist inside. If I had to eat here again I would eat these. Fried jumbo shrimp - too much batter and too little shrimp. If you pulled the batter off, you'd find that the shrimp is tiny and not jumbo. Felt like i was eating fried dough and would be lucky enough to find shrimp inside Chefs special: beef and pork tasted old, chicken was covered in batter, shrimp was rare to find. Noodles were kind of stale. The dish is not a winner and hard to believe it is a special. Szechuan steak: the beef was rubbery and hard to consume. Sauce was okay.
