I've had several good takeout experiences here. The pricing is significantly below that of some of the more popular Chinese options in the area, namely Red Tea Garden and Sushi Joy, but I've been happy with with quality of the food. That's especially true of standards like fried rice, wonton soup, and king pao chicken. There is very limited seating; this place is geared to takeout. Online ordering costs a bit more, so you're better off calling your order in and saving even more versus the big guys around here. read more

We have had take out here twice in the past few weeks, both times were very good. The beef with ginger and scallions is excellent. The beef is cooked perfectly - soft and not overcooked. It comes with a small white rice side which is a good size portion. The veggie fried rice is excellent, and the veggie delight is packed with various veggies. The orange flavor chicken was cooked well, the orange flavor was not as prevalent but the dish was good none the less. We did need to add a bit of soy sauce to a couple of the dishes, just a preference. Ocean Chef does not use MSG. The food was ready in the time indicated. You have to call in your order, I did not see an option to order online. Also, you have to pay when you get there, and it is not a touch less payment system. Great selection with meats, lots of veggies, most often mixed meat and veggies. I got the steamed dumplings (can also have the panfried potsticker style) and vegetable delight with rice. The dumplings were large (length of my finger), plump homemade with a seasoned mostly ground pork (with some nappa cabbage) filling and a nice dipping sauce. Veggies were in a nice light sesame-soy based sauce and included broccoli, snow peas, lots of mushrooms, carrots, baby corn, a few water chestnuts, celery, nappa stems and bamboo shoots. Ocean Chef is for the most part takeout only. They only have one table, And I actually saw quite a few people eating in their cars in the parking lot. The menu is large the portions are large and the prices are fairly reasonable. And The food is very good.When you call in your order it only takes like 15 to 20 minutes for it to be ready. My wife and I have stopped there quite a few times since we have a campsite right up the road. Drove here just for this place as the reviews seemed pretty good. Arrived here forty-five minutes after lunch ended but the owners were happy to still give me the lunch menu price after I told them where I drove from. Please note if you have an allergy to Soy, they do use vegetable oil and all vegetable oil is soybean oil. This limited my selection as no fried foods, no fortune cookies or friend noddles or egg rolls as they fried in all in soybean oil. Luckily their chicken chow mein was safe and it tasted just like the kind you get in New York with the white sauce and all the amazing veggies. The portions were huge for the $6.25 price but had to settle for white rice since the fried rice has soybean oil. Their sweet and sour sauce was a little to sour for me as they make theirs with applesauce and apple cider vinegar I would go again just for the chicken chow mein and drive the 15 miles as the ride was really nice and passed Myles Standish park. read more

So last night I decided to finally help alleviate my desire for dumplings. Being that I'm in Plymouth, that means Peking ravioli are the only option I seem to find, whatever though as they are delicious. I ordered from a little place with very few yelp reviews (going in blind!) named Ocean Chef. It's tucked away in the same plaza as Ocean State and Papa Gino's off of Carver Rd (old 44). The woman on the phone was cordial albeit a very thick accent (Chinese?), she took my order and said 30 minutes. Fast forward 29.5567 minutes and I walk in to their store and find it extremely clean, kitchen in view and equally as clean, and the same woman greets me and cashes me out. Thus far the service and aesthetics have me liking this place. And boy did the food not let me down! For a bit over $17 I got a small house fried rice, House dumpling; fried, and an order of scallion pancakes (the wife wasn't home so I get to order my non-mutual favorite). -The house fried rice was good in a different way. It's not brown in appearance but rather still white with cabbage and other additions. Somehow tasted lighter than your typical fried rice. -the scallion pancakes were great, flaky and flavorful with a rather large portion. -the dumplings, Peking ravioli in disguise, were huge! Their dough was the correct amount of chewiness and the filling was ample and tasty. Overall, I think I found my new Chinese spot! read more

Very good Chinese food. Small storefront tucked away in the strip building near Dollar Tree. Plymouth has a dearth of good Chinese food after Ming Dynasty became Sun Dynasty then spiraled down. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Mostly take out but the portions are hot, fresh and plentiful. I will stop here more often. Only odd thing is the drink cooler. What Chinese place stocks Moxie? Oh dear, I wanted to like this place because the girl behind the counter was so sweet and it looked nice and clean inside. However, this was just about the worst "fried rice" I've ever tried. It wasn't even strictly fried, I don't think, and not much soy sauce, being barely tan, and it had almost no flavor and a strange dry consistency. I'll say that the rice did have plenty of protein added in the form of (also tasteless) little roast pork chunks and also some nice fresh bean sprouts stirred in. The accompanying boneless ribs *looked* beautiful, glistening in their coat of bright red sauce, and were properly cooked but - alas - these were also completely tasteless. I hate to say this but - maybe Ocean Chef should consider adding MSG to their food? However, their sugar donuts are not oily and were as perfect as they could be. I would have hoped that a place called "Ocean Chef" would have more seafood items on their menu, too, especially among the lunch specials. read more

The person behind the counter was very sour today. She messed up my order. I ordered an L12 but received an L2. I didn't discover the error until I got home. They didn't give me any hot mustard or duck sauce. The other dish I ordered was salt and pepper shrimp, that was very good. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt because perhaps she misheard my order because of my mask. However, the beef and vegetables were gross and the fried rice was tasteless. We have tried numerous Chinese take-out spots in and around the Plymouth area and Ocean Chef is the one we return to as none of the others come close. They are located in a strip mall and nothing about their appearance would make you think, "yeah let's eat here" but don't let that fool you. We have found OC to always be very clean, the food tastes much fresher than others and on ordering mixed meals like Happy Family, they are chock full of protein not just an abundance of veggies. Their crab rangoon are great and the only negative we've had is that the fried rice lacks in flavor, but not a deal breaker. read more

The soups here are also really good because they don't lack taste and are always hot. The food is also made to order so it never lacks steam when I open it. Did a random drop-in and was so glad I did! It smelled delish inside-The lady up front was very friendly, and they were quick with my order while I waited. I had gotten their menu in the mail and didn't realize they were right by Dollar tree! Kung pao chicken was perfect, S&P shrimp as well.. maybe a little overcooked on the shrimp, but the flavors were amazeballs. Peppered calamari was perfect. I'll be going back soon read more

By far the BEST Chinese food within a 30 mile radius. Everything we ordered was prepared fresh and delicious. While most places serve chicken fingers and crab rangoon that are greasy and soggy, the ones here are light and incredibly tasty. They only lightly fry their food and use no MSG and you can tell the difference. If you like your food greasy and non flavorful and tasting like it's been sitting around all day, visit one of the many other places in Plymouth and surrounding towns. But if you want to step it up a notch and eat some incredible food, give this place a try. I guarantee you will be back. read more
