The Woodbridge HS Mighty Viking Marching Band *LOVES* these guys!…read more Marching Band competitions are hard work, and the kids' uniforms tell the story of the long hours of practice and performance in the autumn heat. At the end of the season, the sleeve cuffs are dark with sweat, and the white part of the coat is looking quite beige. Festival Cleaners at Old Bridge worked their magic and the uniforms are now Gleaming Green and Pristine White, and we are so grateful to the folks at Festival for making our jackets look good as new! I honestly don't ever write bad reviews, but after my experience with Festival Cleaners, I feel…read morelike I have to speak up because I've had enough. I first came to Festival Cleaners in June with two dresses--a blue dress and a white dress. At first, everything seemed to be going well. I had a blue dress with a built-in bustier, which I understood might be a little more difficult to alter. I expected that, as professionals, the seamstress would have me try it on and make the necessary adjustments. The white dress only needed a simple alteration in the back where it was loose. Pros: The owner is very nice, understanding, and kind. She was willing to work with me regarding payment, which I genuinely appreciated. Cons: Unfortunately, my experience with some of the seamstresses and other employees was very different. I experienced rude and disrespectful behavior, including being yelled at by one employee and receiving attitude from the seamstress. On August 6, the situation became the final straw. The front desk employee yelled at me and was extremely disrespectful. I understand that language barriers can sometimes create misunderstandings, but kindness and basic customer service should never be affected by a language barrier. I speak five languages myself, so I understand that communication can be challenging--but respect should always remain. My total bill was $295. I was originally told that hemming the white dress would cost $35. I initially paid $50 and, because of the kindness of the owner, I was allowed to make payments toward the remaining balance. However, almost every time I came in to try on the white dress, there was still an issue. It was either too tight or something had not been altered correctly. I repeatedly explained what needed to be changed because, as the customer wearing the dress, I know how the dress feels on my body. I am paying for alterations because I expect the finished product to fit properly and for me to be comfortable and happy with the work. Instead, I began to feel like I was bothering them simply by asking for the dress to be corrected. I also want to clarify something: I am not speaking about race when I say this. I am speaking about body type. Based on my experience, I felt that they were not equipped or willing to properly alter clothing for a curvier woman. The dresses repeatedly did not fit correctly, despite me clearly explaining what needed to be adjusted. And then there was my blue dress. As I mentioned, it has a built-in bustier, and it was a little too tight. That should have been something discussed and properly evaluated during the fitting process. At the end of the day, I am not expecting perfection. I am expecting professionalism, respect, communication, and quality work especially when I am paying nearly $300 for alterations. The owner's kindness was appreciated, but unfortunately, my overall experience with the staff and the quality of the alterations was enough for me to say that I will not be returning to Festival Cleaners. I hope the owner takes this review seriously because customers should never feel disrespected for asking for the service they paid for to be done correctly.
