When I'm in the area, I stop by here in the mornings. The folks are friendly, the shop is clean and the donuts are delicious. A cup of hot Joe, sugary dough and I'm good to go. I order the same, every time. Located in a small strip mall, there is plenty of parking available. read more

The service is FRIENDLY! They greet everyone with a smile. Ordered a Veggie sandwich on French bread and it may just be my new fav Sando from here on. Brest was slightly toasted and warm with fresh sprouts, light spread, avocado, tomato, lettuce, red onion - very light and filling at the same time. The shop is conveniently located adjacent to a coin-op laundry. You bet I got a lot done today! Cool and cozy spot for a quick donut and coffee. read more

It sure is hard to find a good donut shop these days. I've lived in Alhambra for awhile now and when I would leave for work at 4 AM I would see this shop with the lights on and wondered "hey they must be good ! " Took some time but I finally tried this sweet little gem of a shop. At first it was one glaze donut then it turned into a dozen. These donuts are like heaven if heaven had a taste! That is how good they are. I am in my 30s and taking a bite of these donuts brings me back to a young elementary school girl. I haven't had a donut that good since then. The owner is so kind and very welcoming. My son loves going for donuts. It's always a good trip. Great parking and a nice shop with a little bit of everything. Thank you for making the most delicious softest donuts!! Sun Donuts for all your donut needs !!! read more

This establishment is unacceptably, rude, and lax Quality, Customer Service. Prices are ridiculously high for quantity of food This place is not recommended for service for prices. It's also very disappointing that they speak of you in their language and they don't know that you can understand with translation software... I would not patronize this place ever again... read more

Mom & Pop donut shops are hard to beat. At Sun Donuts you won't meet a donut you don't like. As a qualifier, you need to select a donut type you already like in order for my statement to stay true. They have a nice selection available throughout the morning as well as great options for breakfast bagels. Good coffee served with a friendly smile. read more

Have been addicted to their #12 ham and cheese croissant for a bit now. They have pretty good donuts along with freshly squeezed juices. It's a small family business and you can feel the friendliness and familiarity as soon as you enter. Shared parking with the other businesses in the plaza: a laundromat, Italian restaurant and a tattoo parlor, I think? I only go in the mornings, on my way into work. Service is pretty fast and efficient. Seems to be a lot of neighborhood regulars. Happy to support this family business! read more

Service is horrible. The worker was rude with unnecessary attitude. Wouldn't come here again.

Simple family owned place. They are super affordable prices still now! Their breakfast croissants r so good and they make it fresh. $5 for a good breakfast bagel with turkey and eggs and cheese. $2 for donut holes 1 dozen. U can find such a good deal with such nice people anymore in this society. I highly recommend and support this business! They also get up at 3am everyday to make the donuts fresh. Ambiance is super simple and they even have a laundromat next door read more

Was staying in Alhambra for about a week on vacation. My mom had picked up some donuts one morning and I just had to go back in and grab their iced coffee to finish off the delish donuts! Every morning while we stayed it was so good, there's nobody else I had rather go than get their iced coffee in the morning to get me going. They open early so which was nice and every time you go in, everyone in there is super friendly! Even all the customers were more than happy waiting in line during the busy hours. Seemed like a great place to have a relaxing happy morning. On my last day I decided to get a box of donuts to bring back with me to Canada so my boyfriend could try their delectable donuts, opened the box and Kim the owner had threw in some free holes as well! She was super sweet everyday I came in and as well as all the staff. The donuts made it back all in one piece and I've never tried a Bear claw before and it was absolutely delicious. I think it's a Cali donut or maybe American thing? So overall, SOFTEST, not dry donuts I've ever had. Better than Krispy Kreme and Tim Hortons. So if you're in the area, please try this local mom and pop shop. Highly recommend! read more

Great Service, Coffee, and Donuts of course Love how its open super early too and can even watch some morning News as well.

This is my go to donut spot but today I had to knock down a star because I was shortened a donut. I went in Mother's Day morning to get a dozen donuts. I was helped by a younger gentleman; first time seeing him here. Well I picked about 7 and the gentleman asked if he can choose the rest so I said yes. When I got home, I only received 11 donuts instead of 12. Also in the past, they usually throw in some donut holes, which he did not this time. So warning, if you are getting help by a younger gentleman, I recommend counting your donuts if you let him choose. It was a bummer. Also, price is now $15.50 for a dozen. This is as of 5/12/24. read more

Great place to get for some good donuts. Shop is very vibrant with a big menu. They offer a variety of items such as sandwiches, juices, teas, and other on-the-go snacks. Donuts are always made fresh in the morning. They have some of the best prices compared to all the other spots in the area. The owners try their best to remember their customers orders which makes them even more likable. Most donuts are sold out if you come later since they're usually busy in the mornings. read more

Wasn't expecting much from a hole in the wall with no AC in the summertime, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the doughnuts & kind service. It was definitely just as good as high end speciality doughnuts I've paid 3x as much for. Don't pay for hype, just go to mom & pop for some yummy food & a good time! read more

Sun Donuts, you made our day a Sun-ny day! I've passed this place almost every single day on my way to work and I couldnt be more thankful that I finally paid them a visit. The staff was super friendly and welcoming upon me opening the door. They had a decent variety of traditional donuts as well as some with cereal on top of them. The place is clean, they take credit cards and are affordable. Great quality for the price. There was no weird taste to any of their dough. Toppings, flavors and the donuts were all super fresh and delicious. I'll be back! You guys definitely brightened my day. Oh and I can confirm, they do take credit cards which is AWESOME!!! #15/2020 read more

All things are local ~ Coffee here is amazing! I order a medium for $1.75 then a refill for $1 more. Or a large for $2.25 followed by a refill for $1.25 The coffee seems to be Farmer Brothers (the best! or as their motto: Consistently good -- not available for retail). Judging from their creams and sweeteners not label farmer brother's it's probably not farmers but so good. I wonder what brand? I enjoy a good cup of joe in the middle of my morning walk. Just a hint of their nice cold half & half. I tried their don't -- buttermilk bar plain, non-glazed -- and it was ok but not stellar. I see a robust food menu -- breakfast bagels and egg or sandwiches. They seem to hand-make every sandwich but no be grill. I saw the lady sweeping with one hand and then went back inside to take orders. They have a juice menu and a frig with milk and juice but no grapefruit juice, neither fresh nor bottled. They sell lottery tickets. Good luck! Why no breadless plates? read more

Love these donuts! My go to place when ordering large donut hole orders for my church when it's our turn to bring the sweets! Staff is family run and very friendly! My faves are the apple fritter, maple bar and old fashioned buttermilk. Fresh and delish! read more

I had the #19, which consisted of ham, egg, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and avocado in a croissant sandwich which was under 5$!!!! It was Definitely worth the money! :D You can tell everything made here is fresh and cooked with love! My server (I think he might of been the owner) David was very kind and you can tell he really cares about all of his customers. It seems like the regulars here know each-other and even though it was my first time they would even talk to me as well. :') I had a great time and they all made me feel welcomed. I'm glad I checked out this hidden gem because now I can take my girlfriend over here because I know she will love it! I also tried the coffee and it was pretty good! I had the medium and it was less than 2$. The ambiance in this restaurant is very calming and beautiful in its own unique way. I hope more people try out this place and I look forward to coming in the future with my girlfriend. read more

Every once in a while you still find new things that surprise you. This little donut shop is one of those things because it's really a delicious breakfast sandwich shop in disguise. The donuts here are good. Always fresh made. Always good size and you feel like you got a good donut for the price. When you look past the donut display however, you will find their breakfast sandwich menu on the wall. That is where this place really shines. Crisp flaky croissants and doughy bagels filled with ideal ingredients make every choice a good one. My personal favorite is the #20. Croissant with cream cheese, tomato & avocado and I just add egg for a buck to make it perfect. I've had that sandwich once a week for months now. Always satisfying. The #17 with avocado is also good but they have so many choices, you'll find one that speaks to your likes, no doubt. The food is better than anything Panera or Starbucks has to offer for breakfast and better than just about anything open in a 5 mi radius during the morning commute. Great pit stop to get a good breakfast for a fair price. Pro tip- ask for jalapeños in your sandwich. They pickle their own jalapeños and they are phenomenal! read more

Sun Donuts is stellar. I decided to finally stop in after living here for 4ish years on my way back from the gym around 7:30am (shhhh lemme have my vices). The shop was set up well for COVID spacing, clean, and well lit. The selection of donuts was great and the staff is so friendly! I gotta say, it's dangerous the shop is so close because now I wanna go back again and again! Parking is a non-issue, the lot is huge! I was able to pick up 4 donuts and 6 donut holes/bites for $4.85. It's so affordable I'm honestly surprised they can stay in business! I even saw a worker picking up a couple sheet trays for what I assume was their cafe. If them selling their donuts to other businesses isn't a good sign, I'm not sure what is. I've gone to donut shops a plenty and usually a donut is a donut for me. It's hard to find good ones, but especially if we're excluding those more pricey craft donut shops. Sun Donuts really knocks it out of the park. Their donuts are delicious, from the lil bites to the crumb donuts, they're fresh and not super super sweet. What really seals the deal, however, is the fact that these donuts aren't remotely greasy. You can eat one without feeling like you're also licking a grease trap. Sitting on my couch now, several hours later and nibbling, they're still fresh and soft and just as delicious. If you're looking for a quality and tasty spot, run to Sun Donuts. They won't disappoint. read more

Coffee is watered down. Fruit juices the rode lady in the front waters them down and has a bad attitude when she makes things. The lady in the back does a good job and is friendly amd makes the sandwiches nice and organized with good energy bit the other lady acts like she doesn't like Latinos wh9ch keep theor business opens. Never smiles always woth a bad attitude like she doesn't want to be there serving brown and black people. read more

My boyfriend and I genuinely look forward to coming here almost every weekend. Their sandwiches are so simple and yet so good. Their iced coffees and fresh juices are also a must. Their donuts are always fresh and of high quality. I'm really picky with donuts shops and also new to the area and would highly recommend this place. I'm gonna assume it's family owned and everyone who has served us has always been so nice. The place is also clean and well organized. Very well taken care of family business. read more

The number 22 was soooo good! The croissant was perfect! And the service was fast and friendly!

I have been going to this donut shop for over a year now. It's my favorite breakfast sandwich / donut shop. It has a huge selection of sandwiches both hot and cold. I call in my order a few minutes ahead and it's ready by the time I arrive. It's nice warm and ready to go. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The prices are very reasonable for a fresh sandwich. I'm on the road early in the morning, so the hours it opens is awesome. Stop by, you won't be disappointed read more

Honestly I've lived in Alhambra for the better part of a decade and had never walked in. Shame on me! This is one of the best donut joints since Monterery Donuts succumbed to its firey demise. UPDATE 9-18-2019 The place has been renovated and also they now take card! The only sad part is that the Nice Welcoming Lady isn't there anymore. Perhaps it has new ownership? (Can someone comment or confirm?) Anyways, the staff seems to be nice, but I'll miss the Nice Lady. read more

Love the smell of burnt coffee in the morning. Oh yeah...that familar taste of burnt coffee stuck to the bottom of the pot.I guess it's been there awhile And a very nice stern warning from the lady to the customer in front of me, "WHY YOU NOT TELL ME FIRST TIME YOU WANT MORE DONUT?" So she pulls his donuts out of the bag and puts them in a box. Guess who gets stuck with the old bag...(not the lady). Me...and the guy in front of me started laughing. Well, it was funny...considering that I had told him that I was gonna get his bag. That nasty coffee will wake you up...but you'll be dying for another drink to wash that taste out of your mouth. Donuts...aaahh. I can take them or leave them. Forget that coffee. Service is unusual. read more

If you pay with card they will steal money from you. Went in on a Sunday morning, got a dozen donuts plus an apple fritter. The guy told me $14.50 and I was like wow that's a good price. He types it in on the white tablet they have for cards, I give him my card, he asks if I wanted my receipt and I say no. Later I go on my banking app to check and the guy ends up charging me double, $28.25 when he directly told me $14.50. If anyone goes just pay with cash, so they won't steal from you. read more

I have absolutely no clue what time this donut shop opens but I am so glad that they are open right now, 10 minutes before five in the morning on a Friday. I had to come in and get a couple of donuts for my family as tonight has been an extremely long and sad one for us. The shop worker was so sweet and threw in an extra donut for us. The line wasn't long at all but it was nice to see that the customers were ordering a good amount of donuts each. Gotta keep these small businesses in business right. I like that the mask wearing is enforced and that customers maintain 6 feet of social distancing without having to be told to do so. I love their donuts. When they are fresh like they are right now, so early in the morning, they are so soft and sometimes the edges are just a little bit crispy. The chocolate iced ones are probably one of my favorites. A glaze is always good as well. My daughter likes the donut holes the most. She says they are perfectly sized for her small hands. There's a huge parking lot connected to the donut shop in the Plaza that it is in. A half dozen donuts is $5.25. We also got a delectable ham and cheese croissant bringing our total to a small $8! Love it!!!! read more

LOVE this place! Friendly staff and the best donuts hands down! I get the glaze and they're the perfect amount of sweetness and a pretty big size.
