I've lived in Alhambra for awhile now and when I would leave for work at 4 AM I would see this shop with the lights on and wondered "hey they must be good ! " Took some time but I finally tried this sweet little gem of a shop. At first it was one glaze donut then it turned into a dozen. These donuts are like heaven if heaven had a taste! That is how good they are. I am in my 30s and taking a bite of these donuts brings me back to a young elementary school girl. I haven't had a donut that good since then. Was staying in Alhambra for about a week on vacation. My mom had picked up some donuts one morning and I just had to go back in and grab their iced coffee to finish off the delish donuts! Every morning while we stayed it was so good, there's nobody else I had rather go than get their iced coffee in the morning to get me going. They open early so which was nice and every time you go in, everyone in there is super friendly! Even all the customers were more than happy waiting in line during the busy hours. Seemed like a great place to have a relaxing happy morning. On my last day I decided to get a box of donuts to bring back with me to Canada so my boyfriend could try their delectable donuts, opened the box and Kim the owner had threw in some free holes as well! She was super sweet everyday I came in and as well as all the staff. The donuts made it back all in one piece and I've never tried a Bear claw before and it was absolutely delicious. I think it's a Cali donut or maybe American thing? So overall, SOFTEST, not dry donuts I've ever had. Better than Krispy Kreme and Tim Hortons. This is my go to donut spot but today I had to knock down a star because I was shortened a donut. I went in Mother's Day morning to get a dozen donuts. I was helped by a younger gentleman; first time seeing him here. Well I picked about 7 and the gentleman asked if he can choose the rest so I said yes. When I got home, I only received 11 donuts instead of 12. Also in the past, they usually throw in some donut holes, which he did not this time. So warning, if you are getting help by a younger gentleman, I recommend counting your donuts if you let him choose. It was a bummer. Also, price is now $15.50 for a dozen. The staff was super friendly and welcoming upon me opening the door. They had a decent variety of traditional donuts as well as some with cereal on top of them. The place is clean, they take credit cards and are affordable. Great quality for the price. There was no weird taste to any of their dough. Or a large for $2.25 followed by a refill for $1.25 The coffee seems to be Farmer Brothers (the best! or as their motto: Consistently good -- not available for retail). Judging from their creams and sweeteners not label farmer brother's it's probably not farmers but so good. I wonder what brand? I enjoy a good cup of joe in the middle of my morning walk. Just a hint of their nice cold half & half. I tried their don't -- buttermilk bar plain, non-glazed -- and it was ok but not stellar. I see a robust food menu -- breakfast bagels and egg or sandwiches. They seem to hand-make every sandwich but no be grill. I saw the lady sweeping with one hand and then went back inside to take orders. They have a juice menu and a frig with milk and juice but no grapefruit juice, neither fresh nor bottled. I had the #19, which consisted of ham, egg, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and avocado in a croissant sandwich which was under 5$!!!! It was Definitely worth the money! :D You can tell everything made here is fresh and cooked with love! My server (I think he might of been the owner) David was very kind and you can tell he really cares about all of his customers. It seems like the regulars here know each-other and even though it was my first time they would even talk to me as well. :') I had a great time and they all made me feel welcomed. I'm glad I checked out this hidden gem because now I can take my girlfriend over here because I know she will love it! I also tried the coffee and it was pretty good! I had the medium and it was less than 2$. The ambiance in this restaurant is very calming and beautiful in its own unique way. Every once in a while you still find new things that surprise you. This little donut shop is one of those things because it's really a delicious breakfast sandwich shop in disguise. The donuts here are good. Always fresh made. Always good size and you feel like you got a good donut for the price. When you look past the donut display however, you will find their breakfast sandwich menu on the wall. That is where this place really shines. Crisp flaky croissants and doughy bagels filled with ideal ingredients make every choice a good one. My personal favorite is the #20. Croissant with cream cheese, tomato & avocado and I just add egg for a buck to make it perfect. I've had that sandwich once a week for months now. Always satisfying. The #17 with avocado is also good but they have so many choices, you'll find one that speaks to your likes, no doubt. The food is better than anything Panera or Starbucks has to offer for breakfast and better than just about anything open in a 5 mi radius during the morning commute. Great pit stop to get a good breakfast for a fair price. Pro tip- ask for jalapeños in your sandwich. They pickle their own jalapeños and they are phenomenal! read more

The shop was set up well for COVID spacing, clean, and well lit. The selection of donuts was great and the staff is so friendly! I gotta say, it's dangerous the shop is so close because now I wanna go back again and again! Parking is a non-issue, the lot is huge! I was able to pick up 4 donuts and 6 donut holes/bites for $4.85. It's so affordable I'm honestly surprised they can stay in business! I even saw a worker picking up a couple sheet trays for what I assume was their cafe. If them selling their donuts to other businesses isn't a good sign, I'm not sure what is. I've gone to donut shops a plenty and usually a donut is a donut for me. It's hard to find good ones, but especially if we're excluding those more pricey craft donut shops. Sun Donuts really knocks it out of the park. Their donuts are delicious, from the lil bites to the crumb donuts, they're fresh and not super super sweet. What really seals the deal, however, is the fact that these donuts aren't remotely greasy. You can eat one without feeling like you're also licking a grease trap. If you pay with card they will steal money from you. Went in on a Sunday morning, got a dozen donuts plus an apple fritter. The guy told me $14.50 and I was like wow that's a good price. He types it in on the white tablet they have for cards, I give him my card, he asks if I wanted my receipt and I say no. Later I go on my banking app to check and the guy ends up charging me double, $28.25 when he directly told me $14.50. If anyone goes just pay with cash, so they won't steal from you. read more

I have absolutely no clue what time this donut shop opens but I am so glad that they are open right now, 10 minutes before five in the morning on a Friday. I had to come in and get a couple of donuts for my family as tonight has been an extremely long and sad one for us. The shop worker was so sweet and threw in an extra donut for us. The line wasn't long at all but it was nice to see that the customers were ordering a good amount of donuts each. Gotta keep these small businesses in business right. I like that the mask wearing is enforced and that customers maintain 6 feet of social distancing without having to be told to do so. I love their donuts. When they are fresh like they are right now, so early in the morning, they are so soft and sometimes the edges are just a little bit crispy. The chocolate iced ones are probably one of my favorites. A glaze is always good as well. My daughter likes the donut holes the most. She says they are perfectly sized for her small hands. There's a huge parking lot connected to the donut shop in the Plaza that it is in. A half dozen donuts is $5.25. We also got a delectable ham and cheese croissant bringing our total to a small $8!
