Today I went to Sun Devil to do something no one likes to do, pay for very expensive auto repairs. Puna was my service advisor, first off let me say he was very helpful, honest and has the attitude of "it's all about the customer". I dropped my vehicle off to have my A/C compressor replaced. While I was hit with a high estimate at the end of March I had an idea of what it would cost. Dropped my car off waited for a short while to have a technician confirm it was compressor before shelling out a bunch of money for a repair that may not be necessary. The tech confirms my compressor did in fact need to be replaced. I paid my deposit and went home. Hours later Puna called to give me some upsetting news that compressor they ordered, plus three others they tried wouldn't fit on my car. However there was one compressor that will fit but it was more expensive and I would need to leave my car until Monday to have it fixed. So that means I would have needed a rental, Puna understood that not only the higher costs but not having my car would be a terrible inconvenience and insisted on paying for my rental. He said I will call you back with an exact dollar amount it would cost for the more expensive compressor. 45 minutes later he called me back and the first words out of his mouth were" you must have been touched by an angel". They were able to find another compressor that fit my car but it was more expensive. The next words out of his mouth were, "we will eat the extra cost". Now most people wouldn't care and will expect for you to fork over the extra cash, not Sun Devil. They showed me that they really do care about there customers and that is there first priority. A huge thank you to Sun Devil and Puna for getting my car back to me today and not Monday and most importantly for absorbing the extra labor and parts costs that it took to fix my car. read more

I took my car in because I needed a new serpentine belt. I worked with Tony to get my car inspected and he said the technicians found a few additional items that needed to be tended to. He let me know that he doesn't work on commission so he wouldn't push me getting anything done that didn't need to get done. He also helped me prioritize the work I needed by importance and made me feel like he genuinely just wanted to help. In the end the labor charges ended up being a little pricey, but the service made up for it. read more

This place is the worst. I went in for a small problem and paid $125 for a diagnosis. They told me I needed $1500 worth of work to get my check engine light to turn off. I took it to three other places and they all disagreed.The manager named Montgomery was very snide and rude. If you are looking for a place to get your car repaired go anywhere but here. I got my oil changed at Jiffy Lube next door and was informed by them that there was a bolt missing from one of my brakes. I walked straight over to Sun Devil who put my van up on the rack and took a look at the situation. They then proceeded to fix it for free within minutes. Saved me time, money, and a headache. read more

I would like to start off by saying that if i could give negative stars I would. I brought my 98 accord in to get my timing belt/water pump replaced at around 78000 miles. The work was done, or that what i was told at least, and everything seemed to be working fine. Several weeks later I go into the same location to have my oil changed. Upon receiving my receipt the person at the front desk gives me his recommendation that my timing belt and water pump be replaced. This immediately caught my attention seeing as how I HAD JUST HAD IT REPLACED 2 WEEKS EARLIER AT THAT SAME LOCATION. After arguing with the guy he said he was mistaken and to disregard his comments. I left there a little weary of their competence and workmanship. To this day i have never returned to a Sun Devil Auto, and I highly recommend that no one make the same mistake i did. But wait it gets better, 20000 miles later here I am with a leaky water pump in dire need of replacement. I question whether or not they even replaced the water pump, and just charged me for the work anyways. They obviously have no standards on who they employ, and i wouldn't be surprised if they hire people who have never worked on cars before. Safe to say i am highly displeased with Sun Devil Auto as a company, and will always speak ill of it from this day forth. read more

I had my car towed here since it was accross the street from my house and had no where else to go as I am new in town. They tried to charge me 1300 for a complete front end job when all I needed was an upper ball joint. I had them fix the ball joint which they charged 350. A ball joint costs 50-100 and the labor was 1.5 hours which it probably took about a 1/2 hour to complete. I called a few other shops and they quoted 180-250. When I told the guy at the shop he stated that they are like a dealership and charge like one too and all are master mechanics! I don't doubt what he says but needles to say they are not a dealership but sure do charge like one! Lesson learned will not return. Oh yeah I called mobile mechanic and they came to my home and replaced the other ball joint for 127.50 and I bought the same ball joint on Amazon for 30. So for 150 the job was done, not $350 sun devil car dealership master mechanics. read more

Replaced the window regulator on my car recently. However, the window was still not going up and down smoothly. Took it into Sun Devil to have them check it out. They indicated that the adhesive I had used to keep the window up during the repair was obstructing movement. They cleaned it up a bit, instructed me to get some Goo Gone to finish the job, and charged me $50. So far so good. But I get home and remove the rest of the adhesive with Goo Gone and find that they used a razor blade to remove the adhesive. And the scraping has completely destroyed the window and the tint. I pointed this out and they told me it wasn't their problem. I've been using Sun Devil for 8 years now. The service has gotten progressively worse. I recommend it to no one. I have, however, found a fantastic little shop on Granite Reef and McDowell that is mostly awesome. So thank you Sun Devil for finally being terrible enough to make me search out something much much better. read more

I have been going to Sun Devil Auto for years and this location is my favorite by far. Everyone up front is extremely knowledgeable and not pushy in the slightest. Every time I bring my car in for an oil change they do an amazing job at inspecting my vehicle and letting me know if and when anything needs replacing. This location really goes above and beyond as if their oil change prices weren't already cheap enough anytime I show up with a turn signal bulb or a brake light or a head light that's out they will change it for me for FREE, they dont even make me pay for the bulbs. Sometimes I'm not even aware the lights are out so I really appreciate everything they do for me. A few tips I'd like to give are if you are in a rush - request no tire rotation, I usually buy tires 2 at a time and never really need them rotated unless I just bought new ones, this saves the mechanics time and has had me in an out in 30 minutes or less on multiple occasions! (At less than half the price of the Jiffy Lube next door) That's with every fluid topped off (Even windshield wiper fluid, haven't had to buy that in years!) and a complete inspection! Another tip I'd like to mention is to be patient when it comes to your tire pressure, after an oil change one day I noticed my tire light was still on so I stormed back inside demanding they fill my tires with air, shortly after the mechanic who was working on my car walked out and explained that the car needs to be driven for the sensors to reset. Sure enough 2 miles down the road the light went away, I was a little embarrassed but they were very kind and continued to be very kind in every future visit even though I was so rude to them! read more
