We've come to love having shade available at the push of a button and decided that adding a second long solar-powered screen at the "L" of our patio would cut down even more heat and glare both indoors and out (in tandem forming a 14' x 12' shady corner). JD Martinson came to measure and check materials, and within a few weeks, the new exact-match product was ready to roll. The two installers did an expert job of drilling the guyline into our porcelain tile and helping us decide exact placements. The materials on our first sunshade have held up beautifully, so there's no fading/color variation on the fabric or the metal housing, and both screens look brand-new and precisely matched. The installers made it a seamless process, cleaning up debris with care and taking the time to do the job right. Since we know what a game-changer these sunscreens are, we're even more excited to put them to work as a set. Outstanding, start to finish -- and such an easy way to have it made in the shade this summer and for years to come! *** FANTASTIC service and product! SW Sun Control installed a 12-ft auto-retractable shade with a fitted cover on the side edge of our patio, and the process was perfect start to finish. JD gave us a quick, accurate bid, with no hidden charges, and he did an excellent job of helping us select fabric/housing colors (which complement our stucco even better than we expected from viewing the swatches). The crew came on schedule, and installation was seamless. We waited several months to write this review, to see how the unit would perform over time, and we're happy to report that it's all working beautifully -- the solar-powered motor functions exactly as designed, the remote is strong enough to use indoors or out (even wall-mounted vertically inside the house), and the shade rolls up incredibly smoothly, with no telescoping or other issues. We absolutely love the product, and it's installed in a location that gives us shade not only on our patio but also at our indoor dining table, which is an excellent bonus. I'm an unhappy customer with my ridiculously expensive retrac patio screen. Numerous problems began almost day one of the installation. Technicians have made many trip to adjust the screen, replace plastic parts that crack, install end caps that should have been in place, and remove counter weight bars that were damaging my patio surface with rust stains. I called the other day for service because the patio screen AGAIN is making loud vibration sounds. I asked to speak with a manager, to be told they would call back. 36 hours later and still no return call. Thankfully my warranty is still valid, however due to all the problems experienced I suggest not using Sun Control. read more

I was having a problem with one of my shades. I had called the original shade installer (the shades were original to the house when I bought it) and they basically blew me off. I then called Sun Control. They sent out one of their representatives who had the problem solved within 15-20 minutes. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Purchased and had installed a large retractable awning for a senior lady friend. Scheduling took well over a month and when installed, the awning appeared not to work. The installer apparently was a third party who made clear he was not to be called Re: problems and insured this be not taking my calls. II contacted the Dealer who also was not helpful. My own troubleshooting determined installer had spliced into power downstream from an outdoor light switch, meaning the awning had no power unless the outdoor spotlight was on. This short cut was bush league: one doesn't need an awning in the night and one doesn't have a spotlight on during the day. After more than a week of back and forth, during which the Company's salesman claimed I had "opted for" this nonsensical wiring, they simply refused to fix the problem. I am having a third party electrician rewiring the awning and deducting his fee from the final payment. Overall, this is the worst customer experience I've had in Tucson. read more

The installers were so nice, neat, freindly and explained everything. I did run into an operating glitch, but the customer service is over-the-top-incredible. AWESOME WARRANTY & FANTASTIC SERVICE: Jesse and Jorge came by the house to do a simple check on the valence. While doing a thorough check of the electrical wiring, Jesse and Jorge discovered that the bolts on the awning was coming loose. They immediately set to work to fix the awning - adding in longer bolts to make sure it won't happen again. They also managed to identify the initial problem, which was connected to the awning issue. All throughout the repairs, Jesse and Jorge were very communicative, which we appreciate very much. They were also very thoughtful and polite. They fixed the problem very quickly and gave us a quick summary of the repairs they did. Overall, we were very pleased with Jesse and Jorge! I would like to provide a follow up. SW Sun Control reached back out and personally came back to our property to assess what could be occurring. SW Sun Control was able to identify an issue that was causing the problem and corrected under their warranty service. I feel once this got to the right people, they provided the correct amount of attention and made good on their word. They experienced some unfortunate issues that happened to occur with me which was probably odd that they all occurred with the same customer. Four years ago we had Sun Control install a motorized screen on our patio. We have enjoyed the shade it provides ever since. Last week a part of the screening material came loose from the guide. I called Sun Control and made an appointment for them to come out and repair it. Yesterday two technicians came to our home and repaired it in a few minutes. No charge. We had a very good product installed by competent technicians four years ago. It was repaired as part of a great warranty. A very good company we heartily recommend without reservation. read more

We were first introduced to Sun Control Shades by a former neighbor who started the company approx. 20 years ago. We have been very pleased with the shades. They have made a huge difference keeping our main rooms from overheating plus saving us with our electric cooling costs. Finally after 20 years, one of the motors gave out. We called their service department and spoke with staff to schedule a repair. The intake person was considerate and understanding. A week later the Tec repair guys ( Jessie + helper) were at our home. Jessie is awesome! He explained everything to me. I'm a curious person and like to understand how stuff works. Jesse knew exactly what was wrong with our old motor and the change out was fast and efficient. When I watch a person work and ask questions, I get a sense of the company and management. Without hesitation, I give Sun Control Retractable Shades a 5 star rating! Installing a buffer to our Az sun will save money and give comfort. This is an excellent investment. read more

Order incomplete...estimate for awning April 11, 17, May 2 ordered including remote wind system and LED light package, June 6 installed awning. Did not have remote instructions with them...said we would not need them. No lights no valance. Installer puzzled as he was not aware of these items. June 6 valance installed but backwards. As of August 30, installers came to install lights, but did not have the controller. Messages to sales have not been returned. Poor service. Still waiting... read more

I recently ordered 10 sun screens in different sizes and motors for four separate projects. I found staff, particularly Brett, to be helpful as well as knowledgeable. All orders were packaged perfectly and received with zero damage, longest shade being 20' with a 101" drop. Shipped as promised. When I purchase an item from anywhere I expect quality, honesty and great customer service. My time is valuable. I want the job done right the first time. There are several things to mention here. If you are in the local area of Tucson your product will be manufactured with poor craftsmanship, which the owner is aware of and allows. A local Tucson business that doesn't do quality work for local consumers just shows the integrity of this company. Products are overpriced and forged with cheap materials that don't last. One of their main strategies is to make hollow promises that never come to to fruition. I've waited forever for a replacement unit. If I could give a rating of zero stars I would. I really dislike companies who are dishonest and don't provide great customer service, while taking advantage of consumers. This is not the place to to purchase from. Save yourself the hassle and purchase elsewhere. Most of the positive reviews are from employee's friends and family who are encouraged, not actually customers. read more

We are VERY satisfied with our Sun Control Solar Shades on our back patio (our patio faces West)! These shades give us at least 3 more months of enjoyment on our patio. Why? Because they not only block 90% of the UV rays, they also block the wind/breezes. It is like adding another room to our home! March 2018 I had Sun Control install 4 remote controlled shades. My first contact was with J.D. Martinson their salesman. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about his product and how it would fit on my patio. We have aluminum posts and cover. He went over everything and left no question unanswered. He has lots of experience in this field and it showed. I received 4 bids and chose Sun Control. Mainly because of the salesman. Out of the bids they were second highest. But, believe they had the best product. Then Brent and Dustin arrived to install the blinds. They were very professional. it did take 2 days. I was surprised at how much there was to do in the install. They worked hard and when completed they left the job site very clean. Everything worked just great. I do recommend the electronic controller. Their general manager showed up on site, Mark Gillian. He worked with Brent and Dustin to insure a correct install. Went very well and looks great. We sat on the patio the first afternoon and it was delightful to enjoy our patio out of the sun. Plus, all 4 shades go up so quietly and quickly.
