In 2023 we moved and the house had plantation shutters on every window. It was like a 'cave', so I visited the Desert Wind show room and was impressed. Everyone we worked with was extremely professional. We made an appointment with Connie and she helped us select the shades that were perfect for our home. James is an excellent installer and helped me the phone app to program my phone for the motors. We were so happy that when we replaced a large window in 2026 we purchased a shade for it from Desert Wind. read more

By far, some of the best customer service by ckenzie and the two owners, Ivan and John. Looking for some Plantation Shutters for my home in Chandler, AZ, I tried Costco who is serviced by an outside company. with Graber shutters. I wasnt to impressed with their unwillingness, or inability to work out a custom solution for a door window. Then there was the 100% down, HELL NO!. But a neighbor of mine had O'Hair Shutters fromm a local company that is no longer around. The next closest vendor was Desert Wind in Tucson over 100 mile away. So I drove down tho their showroom and was impressed not only with McKenzie, but the choices available with O'Hair and lots of moldings to chose from, not just 2. So I schedule an appointment to have Ivan drive out for an estimate. The service charge for him to come to the Phoenix area was reasonable given the milage, time and the likely traffic that can be horrible between the two cities. I was immediately impressed with Ivan's professionalism, his product knowledge, and an all around nice guy to chat with. It was a no brainer, I signed a contract right there but split my order into 2 due to costs. The major widows were done first. About 8 weeks later, both Ivan and John, the two owners, showed up to install my beautiful new 4" textured wood O'hair Plantation Shutters. The install was extremely smooth and quick because they know what they were doing with the product they knew so well. Out of 13 windows, I have 8 done. In a few months , I will order the shutters for the remaining 5 windows, two of which will require some custom design which you don't get from the other guys. I have no regrets going to Desert Wind, only appreciation and thanks. I look forward with doing more business with them. read more

This is the final chapter to the wide -style window shades. We put the first one in 9 months ago and liked it so much we added another one today. We paid the quoted price. It included the install and a lifetime warranty. Thanks to James for a pro job. He installed both times. These really finish the two sliding doors and will block the sun and heat. We really like the new look. read more

Wow! From the initial consultations to the install, I was quite pleased with the quality of both the people and the end product. My only complaint is my own: that I didn't replace my dated blinds with shutters a LONG time ago. What a difference! On installation day Ivan, John, and their helper installed 13 shutters in just over an hour! And it's all top quality! I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! read more

I was recently in a rental home and needed two slats on the plantation shutters fixed before the end of lease inspection. I called and was reached out immediately by email. I was able to drop off at their shop and they repaired them within two days for me. I appreciate the help and care they showed me as I was in a frantic rush to get it done. It was at a really good price too! I 100% recommend Desert Wind! read more

Great service and explains the process. Supplied window covers until shutters are installed.

Ivan is wonderful. Incredibly knowledgeable and informative. He helped us refine the design of the shutters we were envisioning after he listened to what it was we were looking for. We can't wait to work with him. read more

We are delighted with the quality and workmanship of our new shutters, and the pleasant experience of working with Ivan and John, both hale fellows. They contended with sloped ceilings and slump-block walls to transform ugly southern-facing picture windows into a design centerpiece that provides infinitely better light and heat control over the previous drapes, and freed up the floor space they had used. I feel pretty smug about being smart enough to choose these folks. Knowledgeable experts and fine craftsmen, including the team "behind the curtains." read more

We recently bought a new constructed home that has lots of non-standard windows, including a multiple panel glass door. I wanted our new home to look it's very best, so I contacted Desert Shutters to help me choose window treatments. I was able to get a meeting with Connie at our in-process construction to discuss all the different options that fit into our budget. Connie looked at our paint colors, flooring, and decor preferences and helped me to pick out a full range of window treatments. We chose shutters, electronic roller shades and panel drapes that complimented our furnishings. Connie was so patient and offered solutions to ensure that we loved everything and didn't feel like we had to go on the cheap to fit our budget. After the order was placed It took about 4 weeks for everything to come in. Once it did, Desert Shutters installed everything. Connie came over to assist James with hanging the drapes to ensure that they were perfect ... and they are!! Window treatments are so important and there has not been a moment I regretted this investment. read more

Ivan installed plantation shutters in every room of my home today. The quality of shutters and the excellent installation was amazing. The shutters also come with a lifetime warranty. We have used Desert Wind Shutters Shades and Drapes twice in the last eighteen months and they have exceeded our expectations on both occasions. Connie, our consultant came to the house for both projects and walked us through the entire process for both shutters and shades that we purchased. We will not go anywhere else if we have shutter and blind needs in Tucson. Thank you Desert Wind! read more

Five stars, two thumbs up, and a big THANKS to the team at Desert Wind! I ordered several sets of plantation shutters for my home, and we had some issues trying to get the right color match, but John and Ivan kept working with me until we got it perfect. It's very rare these days to find a business that's so conscientious, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile for their customers. I'm beyond impressed, deeply grateful, and couldn't be happier with the result. The shutters are gorgeous! read more

Ivan and his team of professionals from Desert Wind Shutters recently installed shutters covering the sliding glass doors in our Arizona room. My wife and I could not be more happy with the results. This was a challenging job that another leading Tucson window treatment company turned down as too difficult. In fact, they recommend we call Desert Wind for the job. The shutters are constructed with high quality cottonwood manufactured in Texas. They are beautiful, enhance the look of the room, and, when closed in the afternoon, keep the west facing room noticeably cooler. And, they've added value to our home. I highly recommend Desert Wind Shutters if you are considering enhancing the look of your windows or sliders. The company is top notch. read more

The process of selecting shades and shutters was a pleasure with everyone at this company. From our initial phone call and visit, we have been so happy with our experience. Connie helped us to pick the right shades and shutters for our new home. She was very organized and friendly. She showed us lots of choices but also helped us to narrow it down to what we were looking for. Once we made the selections, we were kept informed about the process. Our shades were installed with precision and much attention to detail by James. The shutters came later with John giving as much attention to the detail as the shades were given. And there was followup to make sure everything is perfect. The look for our new house if fabulous and we could not say enough about the staff and the selections we made. We would highly recommend them. Thank you Desert Wind Shutters. read more

A big shout out to Desert Wind Shutters! My husband and I are truly impressed with the quality and service Ivan and his team provided for our new shutter and replacement of some existing shutter louvers (the previous owners of the home allowed their dogs to claw deep scratches in the wood with their nails). We first called another company that couldn't help because they were unable to custom make/match the existing shutters but they recommended Desert Wind Shutters. Ivan came out and measured, I explained what I wanted fixed and created, and he made it all happen for more than a reasonable cost. The stain color of the wood is spot on and the style matches our other window casings perfectly. Ivan and his professional team had everything installed within an hour. We are super impressed and we don't pass out compliments freely. Best in class! (These companies still do exist. I was losing hope). read more

If you are going to purchase shutters, purchase from Desert Wind. Great people, very professional.

We have used Desert Wind Shutters for our whole house going back many years and again more recently for my living room, dining room and bathrooms. John White is very professional at the same time being a really nice person. Since some of the shutters are getting older, the magnets that hold them closed have started to break. When I called, his partner said he would drop some off, no charge, when he was in my area. Not a week later, he not only dropped them off but installed them for me. Would not hesitate to use them again if I move, as they have already done my whole house! read more

John is such a great person to work with. They have everything from blinds to shades. Love the service and pricing.

We would not recommend this company under any circumstances for shutters. We ordered shutters from the company for two very large windows, for two tall shutters next to a front door, and three shutters for small windows. The order was placed on 10/06/2021. They were installed on 3/10/2022. We immediately found them to be unacceptable and notified the company. The shutters did not fit the windows properly letting in light all around the edges. They would not stay closed. When you closed them, they would partially pop back open letting light in. They were bought to shut out any light. The company sent out adjusters twice to adjust the shutters, but the shutters had been made so badly that there was no way to adjust them. On 4/18/2022 the company removed the shutters. Not only did this company cost us months of time lost but now we have to find a reputable company to make and install professionally made shutters which will entail months of waiting. Do not order Shutters from this company, read more

I had bought a Co-op in Tucson in 2019 that was in desperate need of window treatments. I used a "designer" from a well known fabric store in Tucson. She was a nightmare. Had "red flags" all over her. I had to "guess" what these huge, bulky window treatments would look like in my tiny studio. I ended up finally listening to my gut and contacted the first window treatment company I found on my Google search. I found Desert Wind Shutters. I called immediately and spoke to John, who recommended Connie come out to see what I needed. She was absolutely SUPERB! She recommended the Douglas Hunter shades and "accent drapes", so I wouldn't be stuck with the same look for 20 years. I chose the shades I liked (from her collection of books and used her suggestions as an Interior designer) and chose some curtains off the rack online. James, their installer, is SUPERB as well. He installed them perfectly! He is now installing my plumb colored accent drapes perfectly. I could not be happier using this company and these people, who are TRUE professionals!!! So glad I found them! read more

I needed window coverings for a rental property. One problem was that a large west facing window area allowed a great amount of heat into the living area. I explained the problem to Connie when she arrived and she had several possible solutions. I decided on energy saving window coverings. I also ordered 2 sets of mini-blinds. Connie explained everything completely and when she left, I knew exactly when to expect the window coverings and what the installation process would be. Things went exactly as she stated and when I was ready, I scheduled the installation. The installer was on-time and meticulous in his installation. I had an extra problem of 2 older mini-blinds that needed to be reinstalled and he took care of that too with no extra charge. My final evaluation is that these are excellent folks with a quality product at a fair price. I certainly recommend them and will use them for any future needs. read more

Our dog chewed up our shutters and they fixed them as a good as new for free! Thank you Desert Wind Shutters!

We just purchased a new home and needed window coverings. Ivan Whitney was very helpful and offered us design options for our various windows. We ended up getting shutters for all the windows. They were installed today and they are gorgeous!!! Not only does Ivan help with design choices, he and his partner install the shutters because they want to make sure the job is done right. They are a "hands on" team. I would recommend Desert Wind to anyone looking for window coverings. You will not be disappointed. read more

My wife and I met John and Ivan from Desert Wind Shutters at the Tucson Home Show. We had recently upgraded the front windows of our 1958 brick house and were thinking of going with shutters instead of curtains to finish them. We liked the variety of materials, trim, hardware, and colors they had on display so we asked if we could get an estimate. Ivan arrived at the appointed time, measured the windows, (11 1/2 feet wide by 50" tall) showed us even more materials he had brought with and then gave us a quote that we didn't quite believe! We signed the contract then and there. The shutters were ready ahead of schedule so on a Saturday morning, Ivan and John delivered and installed the shutters. They took time to make sure the fit was perfect and that the shutters operated smoothly and fit perfectly. We couldn't have been happier! We've had our shutters for about four months now and are forever impressed with the fit, finish, and high quality of these shutters. We are just finishing with some other window upgrades and there is no doubt we will be calling Desert Wind Shutters for a design consultation. read more
