By far, some of the best customer service by ckenzie and the two owners, Ivan and John. Looking for some Plantation Shutters for my home in Chandler, AZ, I tried Costco who is serviced by an outside company. with Graber shutters. I wasnt to impressed with their unwillingness, or inability to work out a custom solution for a door window. Then there was the 100% down, HELL NO!. But a neighbor of mine had O'Hair Shutters fromm a local company that is no longer around. The next closest vendor was Desert Wind in Tucson over 100 mile away. So I drove down tho their showroom and was impressed not only with McKenzie, but the choices available with O'Hair and lots of moldings to chose from, not just 2. So I schedule an appointment to have Ivan drive out for an estimate. The service charge for him to come to the Phoenix area was reasonable given the milage, time and the likely traffic that can be horrible between the two cities. I was immediately impressed with Ivan's professionalism, his product knowledge, and an all around nice guy to chat with. It was a no brainer, I signed a contract right there but split my order into 2 due to costs. The major widows were done first. About 8 weeks later, both Ivan and John, the two owners, showed up to install my beautiful new 4" textured wood O'hair Plantation Shutters. The install was extremely smooth and quick because they know what they were doing with the product they knew so well. Out of 13 windows, I have 8 done. In a few months , I will order the shutters for the remaining 5 windows, two of which will require some custom design which you don't get from the other guys. I have no regrets going to Desert Wind, only appreciation and thanks. I look forward with doing more business with them. read more

We recently bought a new constructed home that has lots of non-standard windows, including a multiple panel glass door. My husband and I are truly impressed with the quality and service Ivan and his team provided for our new shutter and replacement of some existing shutter louvers (the previous owners of the home allowed their dogs to claw deep scratches in the wood with their nails). John White is very professional at the same time being a really nice person. Since some of the shutters are getting older, the magnets that hold them closed have started to break. When I called, his partner said he would drop some off, no charge, when he was in my area. Not a week later, he not only dropped them off but installed them for me. We would not recommend this company under any circumstances for shutters. We ordered shutters from the company for two very large windows, for two tall shutters next to a front door, and three shutters for small windows. The order was placed on 10/06/2021. They were installed on 3/10/2022. We immediately found them to be unacceptable and notified the company. The shutters did not fit the windows properly letting in light all around the edges. They would not stay closed. When you closed them, they would partially pop back open letting light in. They were bought to shut out any light. The company sent out adjusters twice to adjust the shutters, but the shutters had been made so badly that there was no way to adjust them. On 4/18/2022 the company removed the shutters. Not only did this company cost us months of time lost but now we have to find a reputable company to make and install professionally made shutters which will entail months of waiting. I had bought a Co-op in Tucson in 2019 that was in desperate need of window treatments. I used a "designer" from a well known fabric store in Tucson. She was a nightmare. Had "red flags" all over her. I had to "guess" what these huge, bulky window treatments would look like in my tiny studio. She recommended the Douglas Hunter shades and "accent drapes", so I wouldn't be stuck with the same look for 20 years. I needed window coverings for a rental property. One problem was that a large west facing window area allowed a great amount of heat into the living area. I explained the problem to Connie when she arrived and she had several possible solutions. I decided on energy saving window coverings. I also ordered 2 sets of mini-blinds. Connie explained everything completely and when she left, I knew exactly when to expect the window coverings and what the installation process would be. Things went exactly as she stated and when I was ready, I scheduled the installation. The installer was on-time and meticulous in his installation. I had an extra problem of 2 older mini-blinds that needed to be reinstalled and he took care of that too with no extra charge. My wife and I met John and Ivan from Desert Wind Shutters at the Tucson Home Show. We had recently upgraded the front windows of our 1958 brick house and were thinking of going with shutters instead of curtains to finish them. We liked the variety of materials, trim, hardware, and colors they had on display so we asked if we could get an estimate. Ivan arrived at the appointed time, measured the windows, (11 1/2 feet wide by 50" tall) showed us even more materials he had brought with and then gave us a quote that we didn't quite believe!
