Perfect place for sushi when in Yakima. Good service and nice atmosphere. Sushi is fresh and hits the spot.

So excited for this new sushi spot in yaks. There is none other that will have as authentic sushi as Sumo. I read a review someone complaining about the size of the sushi rolls. One thing about Americanized sushi, is that there is too much rice. Sushi isn't supposed to be big. If you go to Japan, you will realize what I mean by this. If you want to pay for a pound of rice with your seafood then go up the street to NY Teriyaki lol. You will get the real authentic thing here, and I am super excited for that! Everything was fresh and on point. Love the interior design and the cute little storefront entrance that is very much like stepping into the streets of Tokyo! Came in with my crazy family and everyone was so sweet and kind even tho We gave the server a hard time I am sure. we ordered a lot: the sushi deluxe, a Cali roll, soft shell crab, lobster tail fried oysters, edamame, gyoza....everything was amazing and I can't wait to be back on my own for a peaceful dinner this time lol read more

Their lunch specials are perfect! 3 rolls for $15.95. The sushi was fresh and delicious. When I was on a "staycation" I ordered lunch from them 3 times. I had an issue once where something was forgotten and they remade it for me for free. Definitely try it out for lunch! read more

Came because reviews looked good. The service was very good. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was very mediocre. Gyoza was ordered as a starter. Tasted ok but were not warm. Ordered sumo roll, California roll and spicy tuna. Sumo had the most flavor but I don't like the fried rolls generally. Cali was incredibly bland. Didn't eat tuna roll. On par with grocery store sushi in my opinion. read more

Great to have Sumo in Yakima now. Really nice job with the interior remodel. Nice selection of sushi options as well as steak, chicken, rice and noodle dishes. Friendly and attentive staff made our experience a really good one. We'll definitely go back for dinner again. read more

This was our go-to date night spot because it was affordable and good. I don't think we'll be returning as the quality of their fish has declined, and the rice tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. The salmon was definitely water injected and tasted like the salmon you can get at walmart, and the tuna tasted and looked very strange. Usually when we have dinner here we feel full all the way through breakfast the next day, and we feel great, this time though we had very upset stomachs and one of us vomited upon returning home. read more

BY FAR, the best sushi restaurant in Yakima. I've been to every sushi restaurant in this town. Most are mediocre at best, some are downright bad. I've had sushi all over the US and truly know good sushi. Sumo is good sushi. Customer service is wonderful as well. Sumo will definitely become a regular part of my dining out. read more

This place is AMAZING. I moved here from the coast of Northern California and I was so underwhelmed with my sushi choices when I moved to Yakima. Then Sumo opened up and it's one of my favorite sushi places I've ever been to (and I'm really picky about sushi). Their sushi is some of my favorite and the chef specials are all delicious and all unique and different. My personal favorite is the Fresh Mango roll and add some tempura shrimp. Can not recommend this place enough. I've moved from Yakima now but I will always stop here when I come back to town. 10/10. read more

I was so looking forward to our evening out, Daly we picked the wrong restaurant. We had 630 reservations on a Monday, we were sat promptly at 630, party of 2. Waters already on the table, ok. Our server Marc was prompt and on point, we ordered an appetizer, sake and a bowl of soup, both came out quick. We ordered our sushi rolls at the same time, 35 min for 2 sushi rolls. Once they arrived, either the avocado or nori was super chewy, we ate most because we were hungry. Then it took 15 to get the check. Sorry, when you have three sushi chefs and there is only 7 tables and 4 people at the bar, sushi should be flying of the counter. Our server gets 4 stars, only dropped the ball on delivering the check, he restaurant gets the 2 stars. read more

i had ordered on doordash the Chicken Yaki soba, miso soup and salmon roll. I wasn't not a fan. The noodles were lacking flavor and felt dry. The miso soup had no flavor tasted like warm tap water hardly had little to nothing of seaweed or tofu. The salmon rolls were fine but nothing special. Shrimp Fried rice is amazing! Fun and clean restaurant! The robots are hilarious! Service is good and bit busy but worth the wait.

The nigiri was okay, not good, but not bad, but the tuna roll that came with the sushi special was bizarrely awful. The first thing I noticed was the seaweed wrap was musty tasting - like it had been on the shelf for ten years. Because we were in a hurry and very hungry, I decided to eat just the inside of the roll - bad idea. The tuna was mushy - almost as if it had been "reconstituted" - not spoiled but definitely not fresh - yuck. Worst sushi experience I've ever had. read more

Super hard writing this, ordered from here yesterday and while the food WAS good, the portions delivered were bogus. $42 tab, 6 piece sushi roll, 5 pieces in tempura meal, 2 miso soups. When you have small children, delivery is essential. Husband and I were still hungry and that's not the case at our go-to sushi restaurant in town. This place is new so we thought we would give it a try. First off, the sushi rolls are tiny, just a little thicker then my thumb. They are by far the smallest sushi rolls in town. Ironically, they are also the most expensive sushi rolls in town. Lastly, they didn't have a lot of taste. They weren't bad, but they weren't great. I won't be back and I'll stick to my usual sushi place...bigger rolls, less money. read more

This is the place that yakima needed. I moved from the Wenatchee area a few years ago and Sumo was our go to Sushi restaraunt. The cucumber sake is so light and refreshing and the manager at the Yakima store is super friendly and accommodating. There is also a young man who does water and bussing. I don't always go out of my way to tip extra, but this kid works so hard and I wanted to give him a shout out. Really cool interior and the sashimi is generously portioned and always outstanding. read more

Food was delicious and flavorful!! I didn't get to take a picture.. I completely devoured it! I ordered the filet mignon with fried rice, it comes with veggies, noodles, and a special sauce on the side. This was my first time eating hibachi, will definitely order from here again :) read more
