I ordered via DoorDash for pick up, everything was nicely presented. The salad was a little sad and there were a few pieces of lettuce that were less than appealing looking sitting right on top but I just picked those out. The soup was 11/10, very flavorful and delicious and stayed super hot even though it wasn't consumed right away. The sushi tasted fresh and delicious. There was one roll that was covered in crunchies and sauce that I couldn't identify and just looked a little messy but tasted good. Taking off a star for the service itself. I think it was the owner but he greeted me right when I arrived, told him I was there for a pick up, he hurriedly said it was getting ready (even though the email I got said it was ready?) then rushed over to the bar to talk to the bartender who I'm assuming is new and proceeded to talk down to her. The other person who helped me after him really didn't seem like she knew what was going on and I don't think she normally worked in that particular role or something. Someone from the kitchen came up with the soups and salads which would have entirely been missed, even though I had no idea my order came with that. I'm glad it did, that soup was really good. The person from the kitchen packed everything for me, I asked them if they had a tip jar and the cash tip I left was put in a secured drawer. Hopefully the staff gets those. I'm not from the area so I can't really say I'd be back. But from the sounds of the people in the hibachi area, it appeared to be a good time. read more

The staff is very friendly and the ambiance can't be beat. I usually go for lunch during the week so it's not so crowded. The sushi is great quality and the rolls are made with care. The servers at this restaurant are the most attentive and friendly in the entire town. If I was only rating the servers, they'd have five stars. Our experience with the hibachi grill was that we really enjoyed the food. I recommend not getting the tempura, sadly. It was flavorless in the batter, and the vegetables were not cooked well. I think taro and pumpkin were some of the offerings, and they weren't my favorite. The teriyaki was alright. Fried rice was ok. We love the onion soup. The salad had far too much dressing on it. We have frequented this restaurant since it opened and wanted to leave a review as I was surprised by the negative reviews. It is so nice having this option for dining in Yakima. We consistently have received great service, and the food is comparable to any other hibachi restaurant we have been to including Benihana, Mizu, Shogun, etc. Coming out of covid, the service was slower but that seems to have resumed to regular paced dining and the last several times we thought the portions were larger than in the past. It was a solid meal for something like $10 and when we ordered out it was ready as soon as we got there. The Bento box was excellent with just the right amount of rice, a nice couple pieces of sushi, some delicious orange and some surprisingly delicious onion soup - don't think Cold War Russia type soup, think French onion without the cheese and bread! The box was a good amount of food and didn't have an overwhelming amount of rice. Strong to quite delicious! I'm a male my client is female. The staff was kind enough to watch the bathroom door so another guest didn't get surprised to find me in there. Her chair barely fits through the bathroom door but doesn't fit through the handicap stall. At this visit we sat at the sushi counter. This was her first time trying sushi she loved it. We got only the cooked sushi due to her many health issues. The staff behind the counter talked with her a little and gave her the remote so she can watch the game. Sat at a hibachi counter. Food is very good and chefs very entertaining. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service. The hibachi rooms are very large so when things got going the noise level wasn't conducive for conversation with anyone other than the person sitting right next to me. If you are looking for a place for a group, party, kids, entertainment it's great. The kids in our area had great fun with the chefs. Not recommended if you want a quiet evening with your partner or a couple friends. Kyoto accepted the challenge of breaking tradition by keeping the old and adding the Hibachi Grill experience. Beyond that is a sushi bar, two hibachi grill rooms, and a booth style dining room. They really kept tradition and added onto it. We sat at the Hibachi and order food from the sushi bar. I wanted to toss that in to share that just because it's Hibachi, doesn't mean sushi and other food can't be ordered from the menu. The food was great, the pricing is justifiable for the amount that comes with an order plus the prep of a chef right in front of you. Our chef this evening was funny, efficient, and skilled!! The food is outstanding but the service and wait has drastically decreased the last few years. Tonight was probably the last straw for our family. They took us back to seat us but didn't have space where they wanted to seat us (counted wrong), then when we were seated, it took an hour and a half before our chef came out, more than a hour after our orders were placed. There were only six of us. Our drinks were never refilled, we were not checked on and other tables were seated after us but cooked for before us. We have supported Kyoto since it opened and placed takeout orders regularly during COVID, and are incredibly disappointed at the repeatedly worsening service. Only drinks reordered were only alcoholic and some of them returned due to spoilt flavour. No pops refilled Dishes piled up around me making it hard to eat, bus boy was random at best.
