The food was terrible, we were a small group everyone got their dinner but my husband, we finally asked where his dinner was, and then they asked what he ordered, five minutes later they come back and ask again what he ordered, the chicken I had was over cooked and grizzly. I was looking for some thing that I could order for lunch that wasn't too expensive. I got a hibachi combo plate that had shrimp and chicken with noodles and vegetables and I also got a hand roll Philadelphia roll. My food was very fresh warm and delicious. A great HH that ends at 5. Super cheap sushi and appetizers. I've been twice. Once for sushi and once for hibachi. Both times I was very impressed. The restaurant is clean and service is very efficient. They also get really busy around HH time. The sushi is fresh and plenty. The hibachi plate was enough for two meals. The meal also comes with mushroom soup and salad with a ginger enhanced dressing. The customer service is a bit lackluster, therefore the 4 stars instead of 5. The food was great but the service was irritating and very slow. Our server was a high school kid I believe and she seemed lost when she was taking our order. Had to repeat everything twice. The manager came 2 times to our table to take the beer order. Second time we received a very rude answer, he seemed very annoyed. Was really excited to try sushi at Sumo and planned to leave a good review, but the food was sadly not good. If this was in Seattle, I'd give it 1 star. Tempura shrimp were tough and heavy but also flavorless. One tempura vegetable was raw while another was oily and overcooked. Steamed Shumai were mushy and cold on the inside. Philly roll was so tiny! Smallest sushi rolls I've ever seen. Ordered the rainbow rolls too, which were also flavorless. I don't know how to make flavorless sushi rolls, but somehow they managed. 3 stars, I ate about half of it. read more

My boyfriend got the chicken hibachi and it came packed with food. Chicken, noodles, rice, veggies, salad and soup. We also ordered a shrimp tempura roll. The shrimp was extra crispy and delicious. When i asked what kind of fish the "white tuna" and their other tuna contained the helpful waitress asked the "sushi chef",. What a great addition to the Yakima restaurant scene!! Had dinner there tonight. I had the poke bowl which was enormous (brought home its remnants for tomorrow's stir fry). Wife had "sushi deluxe". We shared the tofu appy. The fish was as fresh as you could ever ask for. Miso soup was classic with a generous helping of seaweed. The waitstaff was friendly and prompt. The best place for Seafood!!! I don't even know what to say is the best cause everything is. The fried oysters and scallops are the best!!!! 100% you will love them!!! The salmon filet is amazing and the plate you get will have you taking home leftovers but wanting to eat it all. The raw fish is also amazing. The sake is fantastic!!!! I ordered door dash delivery from this business twice. Sumo got it wrong both times. The first time it was about the dragon roll and the second time it was about the fried rice. The second time I called them three times and no one picked up, so I hope this review will get their attention. On the contrary, my dine-in experience was great. However, a friend of mine tried the place after I highly recommended it and she is not going back. She told me that people sitting next to them were drunk, loud, and inappropriate BUT no one did anything because they were the owner's friends. I've come here several times for to go orders for lunch. Sushi is ok but the service for to go is severely lacking in efficiency. They're very strict about the time of pick up. If I come early, the order wouldn't have started. Totally understandable for freshness. If I arrive on time as stated in the order confirmation, I still have to wait 5-15 minutes. The last straw was when I placed a pick up order and the printers were not working and I had to wait an additional 45 minutes for my order to be ready. Keep in mind that 40 minutes was already programmed when I did my online order. Total wait time 1 hour and 25 minutes. I've had way better service and food at Kobe Sushi in Union Gap. read more

RAW fish NOT OVEN BAKED and no eel sauce. it was to disgusting to eat even after removing the raw fish. So I won't be eating there again and I had to throw the food out. I'll ask for a full refund tomorrow. $30 for no dinner isn't okay. And pork served cold is dangerous for bacteria PLUS 3 others on reviews said the geyagos ( pork pot stickers) were cold on the inside. I've eaten at restaurants all over the world! So excited for this new sushi spot in yaks. There is none other that will have as authentic sushi as Sumo. I read a review someone complaining about the size of the sushi rolls. One thing about Americanized sushi, is that there is too much rice. Sushi isn't supposed to be big. If you go to Japan, you will realize what I mean by this. If you want to pay for a pound of rice with your seafood then go up the street to NY Teriyaki lol. You will get the real authentic thing here, and I am super excited for that! Everything was fresh and on point. Love the interior design and the cute little storefront entrance that is very much like stepping into the streets of Tokyo! Came in with my crazy family and everyone was so sweet and kind even tho We gave the server a hard time I am sure. we ordered a lot: the sushi deluxe, a Cali roll, soft shell crab, lobster tail fried oysters, edamame, gyoza....everything was amazing and I can't wait to be back on my own for a peaceful dinner this time lol read more
