I love Poke Oasis. Very sweet workers. Where would we be without our Burlington Oasis!…read more My enthusiastic friend expresses it best and fully. Here's her take... "Driving through rural neighborhoods of Washington can be daunting without a sense of time, space, and phone service. Thick, limitless evergreen forests occluding the beacon from the highest of cell towers, miles and many rows farmland, and the occasional $6/gallon gas station. The eyes sore quickly at the sight of an infinite road marked with faded paint and tunneled by lush, beautiful greenery, a mirage practically teasing your senses with a taste of something familiar. But if you're lucky, you just might stumble across an oasis. The Poke Oasis, in fact. Your eyes have not deceived you, and you did indeed reach that shimmering pool of life waiting for you in none other than Burlington, WA. If I could go back and relive the moment they asked me "what can I get you?" and prepared the most exhilarating, invigorating, electrifying plate of sustenance that may have ever tickled my tastebuds. I'd sell my left kidney for that... Anyways. For you movie lovers out there, especially you little rascals who can't resist a bite of the forbidden fruit, who walk on the edge of desire and disaster...this bowl has just the thrill you seek. If your will is strong, your stomach stronger, and you like a little danger, you just might make it into the theater with your poke. I, for one, relished my delightful bowl of poke whilst singing along to Hadestown, furiously devouring each bite and unabashedly reciting every bit of dialogue until the angry Karen two rows in front of me gave me the "look." She doesn't get it. But I know you will. Anyone who dares walk through those doors must be prepared to have their life altered, their heart changed, their soul transcended. And if you have made it this far...I, too, dare you to take that leap of faith. But who am I to tell you what to do? I'm just your friendly neighborhood Poke Oasis regular." She said the best sellers were the crab and lobster rolls, but her favorite was the spicy shrimp. She lit up when I said that sounds great. And she was right. She brought it out while I was viewing the yummy pickled offerings and checking out all the other store goodies in this quaint country store. She was proud of it and even opened it to show me. I couldn't resist adding an extra half pound of the ahi poke. I returned to my truck and knew I had to get after the sandwich before getting on the road so there I went. I am a road warrior for work and get into my fair share of sandwiches during a work week. So worth the stop. It was perfect and came with a side of potato salad which didn't disappoint either. Definitely top sandwich I've had this year. The poke was on point and instantly reminded me of being in Hawaii getting my poke to go out of the deli at Foodland. I had to run back in after and tell her thank you for the recommendation and got a high five and a big smile. Go visit. Ask for Hailey. Get the spicy shrimp and poke. You'll be super happy you did.

We've been going there for years. Sadly, they no longer offer ice cream cones (just ice cream in pints and quarts) - they explained to me that they were overwhelmed by people who just wanted ice cream, and that it made it hard to sell fish. The penalty of popularity. If you need fish, whether to consume nearby, or to take home on ice, this is a great place to buy it - conveniently located on route 20, not far from I-5.

So I couldn't wait to check them out! Sadly, it took awhile to figure out where to find them. Initially it was announced they'd be at North Sound Brewing on the weekends. But I stopped there twice and... no truck. I looked for updates on social media, but (alas) still couldn't seem to sync up with them. Then, one random weeknight, we headed to Barley & Brew in Sedro Woolley to see a comedy show, and there was Karuma. Score! At the time, I was recovering from a tummy bug, and didn't want to eat raw fish yet, so I ordered a California Roll and got a beeper to await my order. 45 minutes later... it was ready. And...it was delish. Not to mention HUGE! I couldn't even finish it. Since they're new, I'll give them grace on the long wait and hard-to-findness. But I do hope to run into them again soon (maybe, finally, at North Sound) and give some of their other tasty sounding sushi a try!

The service is pretty standard and the staff were able to clear our plates relatively quickly. This is a Chinese or Asian style buffet, and we loved the Asian style fusion foods. There were rows and rows of food choices. Some of the trays were of hot food like ribs or fish, fried foods, various seafoods, a salad bar, sushi and sashimi bar, desserts or fruits, and even a DIY grilling station where you can choose your own meats or proteins, veggies, or noodles, and they'll freshly stir fry it on a hot stone flat grill top! The various seafoods included shrimp, clams, baked oysters, crawfish, and deep fried crab. My favourite was probably the sushi bar with many different rolls, nigiri sushi, sashimi, and sashimi salad. They also have an unlimited soft serve machine. All in all, a great lunch with amazing variety and portions!

We only had to wait a few minutes - 5 minutes maybe - before they called us in to be seated. Once seated we were served water and then they began taking drink orders. Since we were there for Sunday Brunch we waited a bit for the stragglers to arrive before ordering our meals. Service in general was excellent. Very timely without hovering. I ordered their Double Bloody Mary, a drink they are well known for around these parts. It's a drink and a meal all in one! The Bloody Mary was decent. Not the best I've ever had, but still tasty. Included, on skewers were two small biscuit sliders with egg, ham and cheese, three sausage meatballs, two large bacon wrapped potato chunks, a couple of pickled peppers, a chunk of apple, two blue cheese stuffed olives, a chunk of cheese, ham and salami. It also contained a big celery and carrot stick. It was supposed to have a dill pickle spear but I guess they forgot that or ran out. With it you get your choice of vodkas. I chose Tito's. This was all served in a quart size Mason Jar! Everyone else ordered other items and they all seemed to enjoy not only their drinks but their food as well. Salmon Scramble was really enjoyed by the son in law and stuffed French toast was great according to my wife. Several ordered the Breakfast Burrito in a Bowl and enjoyed it. They have an extensive breakfast menu available for brunch so a second visit will be in order. All in all it was a nice way to celebrate a birthday and eat brunch. Well worth a visit.
