I had St Vrain quote a removal for an ash borer-killed (dying, not standing dead) tree in my…read morebackyard. Of about 7 quotes I received, St Vrain was one of two that insisted a crane was needed. The reason I'm writing a review as someone who chose not to employ this company is WHY I chose not to employ this company. I am a single female homeowner and did not at any time feel like John was listening to or respecting my requests for the job (leave a stump, leave trunk wood in firewood lengths, no grinding, dump chipped branches on the driveway). The quote that I received included none of my job requests which further concerned me that if I hired them, my desires would not be honored. The quote was not the highest but was four times the amount quoted by companies that were willing to remove the tree by climbing - of which there were many. I ended up having the tree removed and my requests honored for 25% of the cost quoted by St Vrain, so I recommend making sure you quote multiple companies for your job. I also caution against using this company as a single woman; bring your handyman, dad, brother, son, whatever to repeat your requests so they're actually heard.

Medium Aspen Tree Removal from our Back Yard by Patriot Tree Co…read more I got five quotes, and Patriot came in as the best. We chose them based on reviews. They did a great job; arrived as scheduled, 3 guys worked quickly, safely and efficiently to remove the tree in a short time. Couldn't be happier. We will definitely hire them again for any future tree needs. We highly recommend.

Incredibly unhappy with this company. Mike came out today, four years after they were supposed to…read moretrim numerous branches of our large backyard ash tree, the main branch needing trimming and growing over the sidewalk onto Bella Vista. That is why we initially called, for that branch. They didn't get the bucket truck as promised. Perhaps they forgot to pull the permit? Not sure, but possibly. Not only did they fail to trim this sizeable tree branch over the sidewalk as promised, but they cut many, many healthy branches within the tree, so rapidly that we had to yell for them to stop! And they did. Tree now possibly has Emerald Ash Borer disease, of course not Patriot's fault, but they won't make good on any of the work they promised to do previously but didn't. Mainly we wanted them to trim this one branch. They still could if they wanted to, but they won't. They are giving us quotes today, for MORE work, including what they were supposed to do the first time and that we paid a lot of money for. Tree is ridiculously untrimmed and misshapen, not primarily from the disease it seems, but from their haphazard "trimming". Huge branch still over the sidewalk. We paid them around $1000 at the time. They could have made good on their work today, but did not in any way. Quite shocking HOW non-cooperative they were. We will never recommend them to anyone.

They did the immediate cleanup up and came back for the large removal project. It could not have gone better. Fast forward 2 years and we needed to remove our last 2 conifers for wildfire mitigation in a high risk neighborhood. I called them back as I feel they are the best arborists around. Locally owned and staffed. The set up for the project went well, the timing perfect for summer between the move out of last year's students and the arrival for the upcoming year. The house closest to the tree is the house next to ours which is student rental home for CU off campus housing. When they are between summer moves , there are fewer parking issues as well as not interfering with their lifestyle. The team came this morning m, right in time, having procured the no parking signs for such work and having the utilities locators done in advance. The work when exceeding well, removing the already broken spruce and the aging and badly place piñon pine, too close to our house. The team of arborists were amazing. I would certainly use them again if I could but I am out of trees that will ever need removals. Call this place first if you are ever in need. In Colorado, we are facing terrible wildfire risks and all communities will need evaluation. In this area, Blue River can't be beat.

When I called Oak Arbor Care to have my trees trimmed during the dormant season, I could hardly…read morebelieve my ears when I was able to schedule a trimming within a week. Yesterday, as promised, "Curtis" arrived (15 minutes early!), ready to get to work. He started on my two dead aspen in my backyard, shinnying up the one good aspen, then, chunk by chunk, taking down the two dead trees. I watched for a few minutes because I find it interesting to see a professional at work. I left for a minute to start lunch, and by the time I came back the two trees were just about down. He had chainsawed 'em in the time it took for me to get lunch going, and was beginning to haul the wood from my lower back area, through the snow, around the house and into a chipper. I mean, talk about efficiency! About the time he was cleaning up, his partner and owner, "Jake Chestnut" arrived from another job. He climbed the other tree in need of trimming, an ash, in about two minutes, through the use of a rope and pulley system. Again, fascinating to watch. Jake selectively cut the limbs I had asked for him to take out that were covering my fireplace chimney. With Curtis' help he lowered the limbs piece by piece to the ground where Curtis cut them up. Together they ran them through the chipper. Afterward, Curtis raked the snow (!) to clear off the debris left from the cutting and hauled it up to the truck. Then the two of them chipped everything up and, with their blower, cleaned the area up, including the driveway and side yard. From beginning to end it hardly took two hours. Jake then came in to settle up with me. He charged me exactly what he said he would, and gave me the promised ten percent discount for cash. He'd told me this earlier so I was prepared. Who doesn't like a discount? I enjoy visiting my new bank anyway, so I did just that. My trees, while looking a little bare at the moment, will benefit in the long run from this professional trimming. Jake, a certified arborist for many years (I think he told me twelve) also told me about a possible problem I could have with some pines that I wasn't aware of. He told me how my trees could die in six months if they became infected with this particular insect. I need to contact him again about exactly what to look for. Without his having told me this though, my trees, which I planted over twenty years ago, could disappear that quickly without my even noticing. Bottom line is to contact a several arborist with good reviews, and walk through your yard with them. Then, LISTEN to what they say. It could save your trees!
