We used the 2 years…read moreago for an emergency cleanup of a tree that broke in high wind and landed on an adjacent tree and damaged it. They did the immediate cleanup up and came back for the large removal project. It could not have gone better. Fast forward 2 years and we needed to remove our last 2 conifers for wildfire mitigation in a high risk neighborhood. I called them back as I feel they are the best arborists around. Locally owned and staffed. The set up for the project went well, the timing perfect for summer between the move out of last year's students and the arrival for the upcoming year. The house closest to the tree is the house next to ours which is student rental home for CU off campus housing. When they are between summer moves , there are fewer parking issues as well as not interfering with their lifestyle. The team came this morning m, right in time, having procured the no parking signs for such work and having the utilities locators done in advance. The work when exceeding well, removing the already broken spruce and the aging and badly place piñon pine, too close to our house. The team of arborists were amazing. I would certainly use them again if I could but I am out of trees that will ever need removals. Call this place first if you are ever in need. In Colorado, we are facing terrible wildfire risks and all communities will need evaluation. In this area, Blue River can't be beat.

Warning - Affordable Tree Service LLC (Thornton) Damaged My Property & Walked Off Job…read moreHi neighbors, I wanted to share my recent experience with Affordable Tree Service LLC (based at 9595 N Pecos St, Thornton, CO 80260) in case anyone is considering hiring them. They thought it would be a good idea to drive their big heavy heavy truck up onto my property and broke my concrete sidewalk (about 4 ft x 2.5 ft plus gutter section). The damage was clearly fresh I have photos. They admitted responsibility but only offered a $200 discount. They even told me they do concrete work, yet they refused to fix the damage themselves. When I pushed for a proper repair (my concrete contractor quoted ~$600 to match the new pour), they walked off the job after removing just one tree, said they "don't like people taking advantage of them," as if I'm the one who told them to drive the truck up on my property and break my concrete. Also they have refused multiple requests for their Certificate of Insurance. I'm now forced to handle the repair myself and search for another tree removal contractor and they're all really busy right now with the weather we just had. Please avoid this company. Demand insurance proof upfront, and consider other companies, I would not recommend this company if you value professionalism, accountability, or proper insurance documentation. Just wanted to warn others -- be very careful with access instructions and get insurance details in writing upfront.

When I called Oak Arbor Care to have my trees trimmed during the dormant season, I could hardly…read morebelieve my ears when I was able to schedule a trimming within a week. Yesterday, as promised, "Curtis" arrived (15 minutes early!), ready to get to work. He started on my two dead aspen in my backyard, shinnying up the one good aspen, then, chunk by chunk, taking down the two dead trees. I watched for a few minutes because I find it interesting to see a professional at work. I left for a minute to start lunch, and by the time I came back the two trees were just about down. He had chainsawed 'em in the time it took for me to get lunch going, and was beginning to haul the wood from my lower back area, through the snow, around the house and into a chipper. I mean, talk about efficiency! About the time he was cleaning up, his partner and owner, "Jake Chestnut" arrived from another job. He climbed the other tree in need of trimming, an ash, in about two minutes, through the use of a rope and pulley system. Again, fascinating to watch. Jake selectively cut the limbs I had asked for him to take out that were covering my fireplace chimney. With Curtis' help he lowered the limbs piece by piece to the ground where Curtis cut them up. Together they ran them through the chipper. Afterward, Curtis raked the snow (!) to clear off the debris left from the cutting and hauled it up to the truck. Then the two of them chipped everything up and, with their blower, cleaned the area up, including the driveway and side yard. From beginning to end it hardly took two hours. Jake then came in to settle up with me. He charged me exactly what he said he would, and gave me the promised ten percent discount for cash. He'd told me this earlier so I was prepared. Who doesn't like a discount? I enjoy visiting my new bank anyway, so I did just that. My trees, while looking a little bare at the moment, will benefit in the long run from this professional trimming. Jake, a certified arborist for many years (I think he told me twelve) also told me about a possible problem I could have with some pines that I wasn't aware of. He told me how my trees could die in six months if they became infected with this particular insect. I need to contact him again about exactly what to look for. Without his having told me this though, my trees, which I planted over twenty years ago, could disappear that quickly without my even noticing. Bottom line is to contact a several arborist with good reviews, and walk through your yard with them. Then, LISTEN to what they say. It could save your trees!
