My son and I own property in south Lake Tahoe. Summit Plumbing installed an ejector pump 2 years ago, for $4,000.00. I called them numerous times because of a smell in the house. They would come out snd charge us $185.00 and just state, no smell. The Pump would trip the power off because it was overloading. Therefore, the pump burned out. We have got to install a new pump properly, this time with a different company. read more

We called over 2 weeks ago to get our septic system pumped. They took my information and said someone would be calling me to schedule that never happened. We called again and finally were able to schedule the appointment. At the day of appointment we took the day off work to be home and meet them, they never showed. No call nothing just no show. We called and they said that they had to change the appointment to next week. So we did and the day next week they were supposed to show was in the morning 9-11am around 10:30 we called and were told that the appointment was changed to the afternoon. We waited and waited no one showed up and no one called. The next day we called another company and scheduled service. To our suprise the technician called and said " couldn't make it yesterday but im ready to come by now!" we kindly said no thanks and we made other arrangements. As a small business owner myself i understand how hectic it can be out there but the one thing that is unacceptable is the piss poor communication. Also there were no apologies given either. The cost of the potential service would have been $438 im not sure if thats good or bad but not worth it with their service strategies. I don't like writing one star reviews, but I need to warn the innocent. I called Summit to do my remodel plumbing in my bathroom - two sinks, new toilet, new shower and bath tub, etc. They sent a knowledgeable young man who appeared enthusiastic. We spent about 30 min going over the job. He said he'd have a quote to me with in 2 days. After two calls to his company's call person, I never got a quote, or call back. Guess business is too good, which allows them to blow off their customers after wasting their time. read more

I rate 2 Stars at best! They came out and inspected a sewer line for us while in a purchase transaction. We needed to know if the line was good or bad and if bad what it would cost to fix it. They did the inspection, found it was bad and we have been waiting 9 days now for a bid. The office keeps saying the guy is out, or that the report is done but needs a signature! These inspections are not cheap and I have never had to chase someone down for a report and bid to repair so much! Clearly they have too much business to need anymore! read more

Came home from vacation to find our water heater leaking. Sigh... Called it in to home warranty. Summit called me within a few hours and gave me a spot opened from a cancellation for the same day. (This NEVER happens with warranty calls - we usually have to wait quite a while.) He came out, and quickly diagnosed the problem. They called a few days later to schedule the install. I will rate this company as the BEST plumbing company that I have ever worked with! They are extremely friendly, efficient & I will never use any other plumbing company again. I had a water heater pilot that wouldn't stay lit & called several plumbing companies to see if they could repair it on a Friday morning/afternoon. Most of them told me they could not schedule me in for another week which meant no hot water for a week! Others were trying to get me to buy a new water heater or a new gas valve& other parts without even coming out to look! My neighbor referred me to Summit Plumbing & I explained my water heater problem to Mary the receptionist. She so took my information & called me back immediately to let me know the technician was on his way to my house. I was amazed & grateful for her efficiency! The technician Mark Dixon arrived within the hour of my call and was extremely knowledgeable. He had my water heater working in less than 30 minutes! He also assessed other plumbing issues that I had & offered recommendations which I will have them address in the near future. These guys came out and took their good old time while I waited. The office woman called and said they were on their way. Over an hour later they showed up. Must have been a good breakfast! My job certainly wasn't a priority to them. Two very unprofessional men. Padded the estimate a bunch. They wanted to charge over $600 more than the local Carson City company that I got to do the work who was prompt and courteous. Whatever you do never use these guys. You will pay through the nose. These guys will say they have time, send an estimator out and then string you along for 3 weeks only to then tell you they don't have the time. Ridiculous AND it was for a school project - the local public elementary school. Now we are scrambling to find a plumber to get the project done before school opens Monday. If they just would've been upfront 3 weeks ago, we could've gone with someone else from the beginning. Shame on them for wasting our volunteers and donors time and making our project take longer. read more

Our hot water heater failed, Summit Plumbing responded promptly. He assisted in solving an issue with the home warranty. Set appointment 10 days in advance and then confirmed 2 days prior. Explained that I would be coming up for Christmas with the family. Drove up from Las Vegas and wanted to extend gas line for gas heater. Arrived in Lake Tahoe and waited for plumber to arrive between 9 -11, called at 1130 and they informed me that the plumber was running behind at their earlier job but they should be there within an hour and a half. Two hour go by and no call. I call one more time and they say the plumber is not finished yet, I ask if they can call and see what the ETA is and they state they do not want to bug him? I let them know again that I have no heat and have 3 little kids (6,4,3). They than tell me well they should still arrive before 5. Receive call and I informed that they will not be showing up and will not make it the following day on Friday. Bottom line no communication, no follow through for set appointment and no disregard for customer service! They act as if they are doing you a favor when you were hiring them to perform a service! Summit Pluming sent this guy out to our townhome. I ask him to please keep it down best as possible because our little one is sleeping. He turns his phone on and puts it on speaker talking to his friend. Woke up my one year old. I told him please finish both toilets and please leave. The guy seem like on drugs or drunk. The Summit plumber went down stairs to fix the other toilet. Once he left I could smell a strong smell of Gasoline or some sort of gas. I look into the tank and find oil/gas slick in the tank of toilet. I called Summit to get another plumber out her to see what he had put in the toilet. The office manager would not send another plumber out to see what this guy did to our toilet. She told it's WD40 and I told her it is not WD40. The plumber only change out the rubber flap on both toilets. The second time on my Ring camera he brings in a bucket to repair the rubber flap. The smell was so strong it gave us all a headache. I had to take the tank apart to clean and also the pump. Beware of Summit Plumbing. Here are picture of the plumber and the oil slick in our toilet. I'm going to make a very long story as short as possible. After several visits to my newly purchased first home by another heating/plumbing company who did nothing at all but create problems for me, my home warranty company finally got wise and called Summit. They were out within the hour, got right on it and were friendly and helpful. Within about 45 minutes, they had cleaned up all the debri around the furnace, replaced vents/flues on both my water heater and furnace, diagnosed the problem with the motor, ordered the necessary parts to fix it and dealt with the warranty company for me! All of this during a time when it has been cold and they are completely slammed with other heating jobs. I am beyond thrilled with their service! We called five different plumbing companies on a holiday weekend after 10 pm because our pipes had frozen. All companies advertised 24 hour emergency service, so when you call in you have to first talk to a stand-by answering service who then pages the on-call emergency plumber, who then calls you back to advise if they can come out or not. The first four plumbers I called before Summit all told me they couldn't come out because they either didn't have the thawing tool or wouldn't come out until later the next day. So, I called Summit and they not only responded fast, but quoted me the most inexpensive rate. They advised if we could last until the morning, then we wouldn't have to pay double-time and they promised to call me first thing in the morning. I was surprised to get a phone call from their office manager, Mary, at exactly 7:30 a.m. and she was fully aware of our situation and was ready to send someone out right away. My only complaint is I believe they charged us for two hours when the job only took an hour, but I can still say their rates were way better than all the other known companies in the Tahoe area. read more

We had a exhaust vent to our heater that was leaking and causing some damage to my drywall. I have used Summit 4 times so far and each time they have been great. This time was no exception. They first told me about an easy fix but since I had screwed it up the fist time they had to do a little more complicated fix. Chad came out with his son, Cody, who is learning the trade. They were both very friendly and Cody got the job done in record time. Chad certainly understands customer service and making the customer feel right. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN! My sink was leaking so I called around to a bunch of plumbers. Summit returned my call but wasn't able to confirm a date and specific time. Once a plumber was able to come out it took him less then 5 minutes (not exaggerating) to identify that a faucet screw was loose and allowing water to flow through and down the pipping and onto the floor. I'm not kidding, a simple screw came loose. Bill was $120.00. I don't expect free service but $120 for tightening a screw is absolutely ridiculous. It took the plumber 30 minutes to write up the invoice and charge me for his (less then 5 minutes) of work! read more

Very impressed with the professional and customer service, especially with Jeremy the owner. I had been spoiled by my late husband, a landscaping contractor, who was very honest and always did his absolute best, and took special care of anyone older or physically less able for whatever reason. Jeremy is like that too. Since becoming a widow, I have sadly discovered most contractors/service providers are not like that. Having 3 acres, 3 horses and dogs, water is essential! They lie intentionally on advertising! Summit was out for AC repair and when I had problems they could not figure it out. They kept adding freon saying there was a leak. After a few trips and Summit could not fix, I called another company out and they fixed the problem they called a restriction. It was not a freon leak. Further investigations finds Summit is NOT licensed by the contractors board to perform AC repairs!!!. Look for yourself. Called Summit regarding a clogged kitchen drain that my husband had tried snaking on his own with no success. They had someone to my house within 2 hours. I called to get an estimate for central air on Thursday. I wasn't here when Cody came out the same day. My husband said he was very professional and knowledgeable. Very impressed with him. He told my husband what the approximate cost would be which was quite reasonable. Since then, I've called twice,once to request a written estimate and again the following day to ask that Cody please call as we had a couple questions. I was told he was on a job and she ( don't know her name) would pass the message along. I understand people are busy and maybe a little more since it's pretty hot but I don't understand why someone couldn't make the time to call even if just to say hey I'm really busy but I'll get back to you asap. Absolutely appalled! They do not stand by their work or accept responsibility for their mistakes. They fixed several leaks in the sink and replaced the line to the refrigerators ice machine, turned the water line back on and did not wait to see if it leaked. MY HARD WOOD FLOOR IS RUINED because of their incompetence. Mike the repair man apologized several times for not waiting to see if leaked when he turned to water line back on, but the OWNER PENNY K. was obstinate, repeated her mantra but and recounted what her repair man had apologized for. Our septic started backing up into the house, so we decided to do two things.....get the tank pumped, and snake the lines to clear any blockage. The septic tank pumping company came out and "located" where we should dig to expose the tank lid (it is buried). My husband dug and dug, only to find out that they were wrong. Meanwhile, Summit came out and snaked the lines, cleared any blockage, and very quickly located the correct place where my husband should dig. They were on time, professional, reasonably priced, and I will call them again in a heartbeat. Come to find out, they also could have taken care of the pumping issue, and would have been $25 cheaper than who we originally called. Summit is the place to call. read more

We had Summit come out to take a look at a furnace that they had installed improperly according to the home inspection on a newly acquired house, as well as to give us an estimate on some plumbing work that needed to be done. Being that the house was empty at the time, I scheduled for them to come between 12 and 2pm so I didn't have to sit in an empty house waiting for them all day. They never showed up. I called the office and they said that the worker was on another job and would come at 4pm. So I waited for another 2 hours... and he never showed up. Finally, I called AGAIN at 4:30 (no, they didn't call either time to let me know he would be running later than anticipated) and he then wasn't going to be able to make it until 5:30-6pm. So, I rescheduled the appointment for a different day, understanding that these things sometimes happen. The workers actually showed up on the next scheduled day and looked at the furnace, determining it was fine and the inspector must have been mistaken in his report. They cleaned the air filter and went on to do the plumbing estimate. The inspector had noted two separate leaks under the house coming from the bathroom and I had overheard one worker tell the other to "cap the pipe". At the end of the estimate, I got a bill for over $100 which I had assumed was for the labor on the furnace and fixing the pipes beneath the house. Fast forwarding to a few weeks later, I tried to call the workers cell phone number that he left with me to have him come back to complete the work for the estimate he gave me. Out of the three phone calls and multiple text messages, I never heard back from him and had to schedule a different plumber altogether. By the time we had the new plumber come out (aside from the leaks, nothing major needed to be fixed) 2 months had passed. And wouldn't you know, they never fixed the leaks beneath the house!! It had been leaking for 2 months and the bathroom floor is now rotted out. Awesome. So, having to pay another plumber to do the work, I called Summit to find out what the huge charge was for, since they had only spent 10-15 minutes on the furnace and didn't fix the pipes, and they advised me that regardless of how little time they spent actually WORKING, I would be charged one hours minimum ($95). Why wasn't I told this when I made the appointment in the first place?! If they had actually fixed the pipes, I could understand, but I paid over $100 for them to look at a furnace for like 10 minutes and blow the dust off of the filter. SO, basically what it comes down to is that Summit Plumbing is unreliable, uncommunicative, overcharges their customers, and then doesn't try to fix the issue at all, even when they distinctly remembered that they didn't show up on the day I TOOK OFF OF WORK and wasted waiting around for them, and additionally knew that they didn't tell me about the one hour minimum charge. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't waste your time and money with these people- Call a good plumber like Tilley Plumbing and Heating instead. At least you can be confident that he'll actually show up and get the job done right when you have an appointment.... read more

I've got an old 1940 cabin with old pipes and roots sometimes coming into them. Once a year the sewer system backs up and needs a clean out. I called and used Summit for the first time. I got a live person when I called. [great!] And, they were prompt with responding, so within 1 or 2 hours they were onsite. The price to clear the pipeline was terrific and he went the extra mile and tightened the bolts on my toilette which was unrelated, and also provided new caps!
