We got there on a Friday night around 7:30 with no reservation and got in in under 20 minutes, so that was pretty great especially since it was for my wife's and I anniversary. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. The service was top notch all around. We started with the fried calamari. It was good. I thought the pieces were a bit large, which made them a tad chewy. My wife had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon and really enjoyed it. I had the Dry Rubbed Burger and also really enjoyed that. Both of our proteins were cooked perfectly. We ended with the Crème Brûlée, it was great! The bathroom needs some attention. It wasn't dirty by any means, it had a strange smell to it though. I always have such an enjoyable dining experience at Summit Grill. We ordered their spinach and baby artichokes dip, the Atlantic grilled salmon, and for dessert the gooey butter cake. I have to say their spinach dip is top tier, one of the best I have had in the city. The salmon was nicely done as well, the sauce that came with it tied everything together. I had to add a little salt for my taste. Their gooey butter cake was really good warm with the ice cream. It was really sweet, I can't imagine someone finishing it alone. Work brought me to KC, it was the luck of the draw where I stayed, and so was finding this place to eat! It is an amazing place, lots of people, the restaurant side was full, but they had a couple of tables available in bar side. Sat down and had a waitress taking my order in a few minutes! She stopped back and refilled my water glass almost as soon as it was empty!! Quite impressive considering the number of tables she was taking care of!! Her name was Samantha R!! My go to lately here has been the fried chicken sandwich salad! The portion is huge and always last me atleast two meals. I have been purchasing curbside from this location lately because the process is easy. Their online order system is simple to use as when you get to the restaurant they have designated spots for curbside orders. All you have to do is call the phone number that is on your email receipt and let them know you are there and they bring it out when it's done! Tip: the time frame for your order to be completed seems to give them a big Grace period. Their special included a pre-fix menu of two salads/soups, 2 entrees and a dessert for $99.00 I love the salad dressings served by this restaurant group and ordered the house salad but requested blue cheese crumbles rather than the feta (and romano?) cheese that came with it. Delish! My mixed grill was really good too. My petite filet was cooked a perfect medium rare. My salmon was a bit overcooked. Fortunately, my friend Mari was working and she stopped to ask my our food was... REALLY???? I hated to say anything because they were sooooooo busy and the salmon wasn't awful. She insisted on having it redone and I'm so glad because I received a beautiful, cooked to a turn, piece of grilled salmon. It was moist and flavorful. The manager stopped by to check on us even though she was working at top speed running entrees to tables & taking care of other guests. Our table allowed us the vantage point of seeing plates as they came out of the kitchen. Not only was I impressed with seeing some of the really professional servers, like Mari, going the extra mile doing things like drying wet plates before taking them to customer's tables, but I enjoyed seeing the impressive plating. They had a full restaurant but the back of the house consistently did a beautiful job with beautifully plating the food. I placed an order to go for last minute dinner. I tried their steak with Brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes that was outstanding! The steak was huge and perfectly cooked, sprouts and potatoes were crispy and well seasoned which is quite a feat for a to go order. I also got a side order of mac and cheese to eat for lunch the next day and it was delicious! The portions are generous, I had steak and potatoes left over for another dinner and had two lunches off the side order of mac. I had only been to Summit Grill one other time before my visit on Saturday. That time I had met up with some friends for a quick lunch and didn't really get a chance to peruse their menu. Let me just say this. If you have Brussel sprouts on your menu, I will try them. I did not start eating them until about 5 years ago and can't believe what I have been missing out on. And seriously, Summit Grill has the best I have ever had! Tender, flavorful and they serve it with I believe honey mustard which I never knew I needed in my life with brussel sprouts until now. I also ordered their fish and chips. It came with two giant cuts of fish and the breading was immaculate. Crispy, fresh, delicious! My only complaint, and please don't ever let this stop you from going to a restaurant, was their coleslaw. It was dry, no big deal. Also our waitress Ciara(I think that is the spelling) was and absolute angel. My wife is kind of picky with her food but very patient. Ciara understood this and actually went above and beyond in catering to her wishes and we were very, very grateful which was reflected in her tip. In Lee's Summit for a family funeral, I was looking for credible local cuisine and ran across Summit Grill. Glad I followed through. I was there on a weekday night and only chose from the Happy Hour menu, so realize that this is a somewhat slanted view. The ambience is very upscale but not stuffy. Good thing, as I was wearing cargo shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. Muted tones, modern fixtures and furniture. All very classy, both bar and dining. The service was impeccable, despite the fact that they were running themselves ragged. I asked Allison, my server, about choices from the Happy Hour menu, and her recommendations were solid. And she checked on me several times, again despite the crush. I had a craft bourbon cocktail (the Horsefeather) which was well conceived and executed. The seared ahi tuna was superb. Great spice mixture and the fillings were fresh and generous. I should have stopped there. I gave in to whim and also ordered the fried calamari. I usually prefer grilled calamari, as that is a true test of a chef's knowledge and skill. Fried is an easy out. These fried calamari were actually pretty good and of a cut of calamari that is much larger than I am accustomed. It made me wonder if it was really calamari or one of those pork substitutes masquerading as calamari. Be that as it may, they were still tasty and not over cooked. Summit Grill is a smallish chain, but, if the Lee's Summit iteration is any indicator, they pay attention to detail and execution and put forth a quality product in a very pleasant setting with well trained staff. read more

I ordered the Poutine for my sin while my wife ordered the blackened salmon salad and I had the Farmhouse Burger. The waiter was polite, knowledgeable, attentive and prompt. The wait time was a little long, almost 30 min after the order was placed for the food to show up. The waiter did apologize and explain the wait after about 15-20 min. Reopening after COVID-19 Coming Back to Life No longer are masks required, some limiting of seating, sanitizing after each customer, and free WiFi for those who do not care to chat. Another "acid test" for a reopening from COVID-19 restrictions: Father's Day without a reservation! Entering the full parking lot on a sunny holiday, we knew there could be some challenges for the staff. I had called earlier and was told that there should not be any problem being a "walk in" around 3:00 pm. So at the hostess station when we were told "only if you have a reservation!" Luckily we snagged a manager who told us we should be seated in "around 10 minutes." 15 minutes later I spotted an opening table in the bar and asked if it could be bused for us. Soon we were seated. That was when the former Summit Grill came back to life. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. She agreed that they had the best Calamari in town, then suggested a very good wine match for my Fillet and for my wife's Lobster Stuffed Salmon. The Calamari showed up pretty quickly and was outstanding! As the appetizer plates were cleared our entrees were served - perfect timing and perfect preparation. The only thing lacking was a stomach stretcher causing us to skip one of their desserts. We will try to make up for that at a later date. The tab came in at a very reasonable $95 (including drinks and tax). Considering the level of the service, along with the quality and quantity of the food I was compelled to leave a very good tip. Understanding the tight local labor market in the industry, the rising prices all around, and the challenge of training new staff and bringing locked down staff back up to speed, Summit Grill is yet another success story in the area restaurants. read more

Happy hour is from 3 to 6, they have a limited menu for happy hour but all our choices were very tasteful. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip, calamari. Hamburger sliders, seasoned French fries and drinks, we were pleased with our choices. My friend said they have excellent steaks there and recommend we try it for dinner. We are always sceptical of five star and one star reviews, but truly believe Summit Grill merits this rating. We have eaten at several of their restaurants in the metro area (dozens of times) and have never had a bad meal or dining experience. The same can be said at their sister restaurants, Pearl, and Fifth Street Social in Lee's Summit. Have yet to try Boru, another of their restaurants. My wife always gets the French Dip sandwich. We have yet to experience, a leaner, richer prime rib sandwich than their offering. I alternate between their dry rub burger, the chicken friend chicken and Nashville Hot Chicken. read more

Each time we have either dined in or gotten our meals to-go, it's been delicious! Great service. I always get their street tacos as an entree, or their Asian Chicken Salad. It's SO delicious and full of flavor. One of the very few salads I'll order from a restaurant to have as an entree. A little on the pricey side but it's worth it in my opinion. Dining atmosphere is what you want- one side is the bar and the dining area is a little more quiet but both are casual. This used to be me favorite thing on the menu. My son went there and said the same thing. The fried chicken was so good and now it looks like Tyson chicken strips. Given the staffing shortage all restaurants are experiencing now, we knew it was a gamble going to one without a reservation on UMKC's graduation night. We were in general pleased with this one. We were a party of 7 with no res, so we were seated in the bar area, which is actually nice and quite comfortable. Pros: Ambience: comfortable and upscale decor. Didn't feel industrial or overly traditional or like it was trying too hard. Seating: plenty of it and emphasis on comfort and practicality, even in the bar area. Menu: varied, but not bewilderingly large. Food choices are familiar and unpretentious, but definitely upscale American contemporary. Food: here's what you come for. Everything was excellent. I had a seasonal salmon salad. $12.95 for the salad, almost $10 extra for the large, nicely cooked piece of salmon. Still quite reasonable for a nice dinner. Others at my table had the chicken fried chicken (I tried the mashed potatoes and gravy and spring veggies with it - dreamy), pot roast, giant and juicy-looking ribeyes, perfectly cooked, and the kids had chicken fingers and a hamburger. There were zero complaints about any of the food. My salad was tasty and imaginative, with edamame and roasted shallots. Dressing was maybe a tad bland, but that's being picky. Cons: Service. We expected this, and it's part of the reality of dining out these days, but even for post-pandemic America, this was VERY slow. I'd put our wait time at about an hour, and they don't soften it up with bread or anything to munch on. Drinks were kept up with, more or less, so that helped. Our server was certainly friendly, actually bordering on overly familiar and sarcastic, which would be great in a 50s diner, but felt a bit off in this setting. She made it pretty clear she wasn't too happy with there being 7 of us who came in an hour before closing. I can sympathize, because they were clearly short staffed, but maybe rein in the eye-rolling a bit. Food: after waiting for an hour for my salmon salad, it was a bit disappointing that it came out with chicken. That's why I tried my husband's food; I had to wait an extra 15 minutes while they remade my dish. Anyone can make a mistake, though, so no big deal. They apologized nicely, but notably did not offer me anything to nibble on while I waited. By that point, I was ready to eat the table.
