I wouldn't touch this ISP with a thousand-foot pole. My Naples rental complex stupidly contracted with Summit to be residents' exclusive ISP, instead of going with a reputable, publicly-traded company such as Verizon or Comcast. Exclusivity means that Summit has zero incentive to provide decent product or service, because they know that customers have no choice of competitors. Thankfully, however, the development of 5G wireless technology has provided a solution for people like me who are unwilling to patronize flaky, unreliable and disreputable companies, such as Summit. I use Verizon 5G wireless service combined with a Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G router. Simply a great product combination that serves as an excellent wired Internet replacement. Perfect for streaming movies, music, web browsing and virtual desktop connections for remote office work. I pay more, yes, but, I'd rather pay more and do business with reputable companies, than support this hustle outfit. read more

Terribly run company. I am a resident of Lakes of Mt Dora. I closed on my new construction home May 9, 2024. I learned that day that cable service to be provided to me by Summit Broadband was not available even though I was paying for the cable service through my monthly HOA fee. As explained to me by the technician who came that day to my home to connect me to the service, the broadband cable had not be placed underground to my lot by Summit. The technician placed an order for that oversight to be corrected and for cable to be run underground to my house so that I could be connected to internet and TV service. That was 2 months ago today and I still not connected to underground cable service. I have since spent hours on the phone with Summit customer support in an attempt to arrange for service. On four separate days, I have made appointments with Summit to bury cable and connect to my home and for each of those appointments Summit crew did show up at my home. The window for service was from 8 am to 5 pm. I arranged to be home for the full 9 hours, waiting for the service crew to arrive. Summit never showed up and never called to explain, never contacted me to reschedule, rather I needed to call Summit to make make another appointment. As of today, this avenue has not yet resulted in underground cable service being connected to my home. Unfortunately I am locked into Summit for my internet service and this choice was made by the developers to use Summit to lay cable in my community. Currently there is no other way for me in my area to secure internet service, or I would have dropped Summit weeks ago. My experience has shown Summit to be utterly incompetent. If possible, avoid spending your money and time on Summit cable service. read more

Spectrum is awful in every way, but I would rather use them than Summit. They worked fine for a few months and I was happy, but 3 weeks of constant packet loss with a literal non-existent customer service call line or chat line to get help through. Your phone call will never be answered and you will be on hold for hours. Chat lines do also not work as you are told by a bot that someone will chat with you but that will never happen. I would give zero stars. Calling customer service is a joke. The company is a joke and unreliable. Somehow they got into our HOA and are by far the worst fiber optics company ever! In the running for the worst customer service. Waited well over 30 minutes twice today to speak with a human being. They sent me an email informing me they setup an appointment for installation -- an appointment I did not initiate. When I tried to reach them to reschedule as I work full-time, the rep I finally reached claimed he could not do anything without a pin number. I asked him where I would get such a pin number and he told me I would be given it when I called to arrange the appointment! He offered no other option to get into the work order. I would definitely not go with this company if I had the choice -- the service switch was forced upon us at our condo community, the monthly fee is now included in our HOA fee. UPDATE:. I called a 3rd time and hung up after waiting 40 minutes! That makes a total of 100 minutes of my day I've spent trying to get what should be a simple rescheduling request made. While I appreciate the gesture of an apology, I see this is a recurring issue with this company. Summit would do better to spend the money they spend on an apologist and hire more phone personnel. Three weeks ago I was waiting for a technician on a Saturday. I was scheduled on a Saturday 8 - 4 in early May because they wanted a 4 hour window which I could not give them during the week. I was suppose to get a new modem since mine is old and won't upgrade as needed. No one came. I called about 2:00 to find out why I had not received a call from a tech to tell me they were on their way. The customer rep emailed their support for information. Two calls later I was told they ran out of the new modem and would contact me when it was in stock. NO ONE BOTHERED TO CANCEL MY DAY LONG WAIT. Now it's May 29th and my signal is dropping on my printer on my iPad and on my desktop. The signal is performing poorly. I work online and need to have a consistent signal. After called Summit support I learned they still don't have the new modem. The support people are professional but it's obvious the management does not know what they are doing. The technicians would installed my original equipment were also not helpful. It took two weeks of convincing them my signal was unreliable. The splitter I was told eventually was bad and my connection had to be moved to one that worked. Before moving here I had another company who I would happily return to but the condo association got fooled into thinking Summit Broadband would be better. If you have a choice go with a more established company. The Summit management are not on top of their game. read more

Their customer service is the worst. There internet is unstable and unreliable. They know this to because whenever you call technical service they never pick up and they don't even answer there online chat half the time. There sales team always pics up though. Even when they do they tell you there's nothing they can do and they will send a rep. The rep comes and sais there's nothing they can do and they'll escalate it with a ticket. Then no one follows up with you. So you have to spend another week trying to get in contact with someone to repeat the process again. read more

We are a building in Sarasota that recently converted from another provider to Summit broadband the experience was unacceptable. I blame both the committee that did the evaluation and Summit for the services rendered. I highly recommend any HOA really rethink using Summit for any new long-term contracts for cable or Internet services. Implementation was longer than expected actual service is very granular. It does not meet the quality and standards of the previous service provider. I'm not sure if there was involvement by committee members who knew people at Summit but I urge any HOA to really do their homework before evaluating and using Summit . read more

I've been trying to contact Summit Broadband about getting our contract canceled after a move of our business. They've completely ghosted me after trying to follow up multiple times to no reply. Their fiber business service has had constant outages during our time using them. One instance was up to 4 days of the outage while they continued to gaslight me by saying my service was working fine and nothing was wrong on their end, it was us, our hardware. Try running and e-commerce business with no internet for 4 days... Well, it turned out their 3rd party fiber repair team crossed the fiber lines and we couldn't receive any data from the outside world but Summit could see our equipment on our network... They waited 4 days to finally send out a tech to our business to see if we had a problem. We pay $750 a month for this service and that's unacceptable. We came to an agreement with our account rep Jordan Hinz to get out of our contract for our service and cancel the service. This is because we're moving business locations and Summit doesn't have fiber there. Also because of the terrible service we've gotten from Summit Broadband. I came to find out they either fired Jordan Hinz or he left and now Summit refuses to respond to me about canceling this service or honor what Jordan and I talked about. Summit Broadband has been the worst business service we've had in 5 years. Multiple outages for long periods. I've requested to be prorated via their SLA agreement for our outages from Jordan Hinz but that never happened because he was let go or left. I'm requesting Summit Broadband resolves this and cancels our service. read more

For a while, the service held up well. However, despite being connected via the Ethernet to our modem it was boasted that we'd receive "up to 1 gigabit speed" in terms of our plan. I don't know where to begin. I have had their service unfortunately via Monopoly from my apartment complex, in other words I have to use them. Not only was the install terribly done the actual technician did not clean up the mess which I had to do. If that wasn't bad enough no apology and or credit to my account for the install the service has been horrific which would be an understatement to say the least. I was supposed to be on auto pay somehow that was knocked off and I started accruing fees and I was promised to not only receive credit for those fees but to receive additional credit on top of those fees for my inconvenience AKA patients in time which I never received any credits auto pay still has not been active no matter what I do and customer service just does not do what they actually say on the phone. It's time to elevate this to the next level. Whatever you do do not sign up with this company if you have the option to go with anyone else and I highly recommend spectrum if you live on the West coast of florida. Or literally any other company. And I noticed basically 80% of the reviews this representative John makes the same generic comment about apologizing. John to yourself a favor if you're actually a real person and find new work because you're not helping anyone whatsoever in any way shape or form. LOL read more

My apartment complex contracted with hSummit broadband. I had nothing but problems for the entire time I lived at that complex. For several weeks after I first signed up I was not receiving the speed I was paying for and it took a couple of tech visits to get it taken care of. On top of that I had repeated outages, sometimes for several days at a stretch, and my broadband modem was replaced multiple times. I had to take several hours off work on different days because they do not have evening service appointments and have only very limited weekend appointments. During all of this I asked for a bill credit for all the time I had either no service or slower service than I paid for, only to be told that no credit was possible until the problems had been resolved. Finally, after lots of effort, time off work, outages, etc. a technician looked at the IT closet in my apartment building and found defective equipment which they promised to replace. I don't know if they ever did. To add even more to this terrible experience, I just found out that even though I turned off the account and returned their equipment a couple of months ago they have continued to bill me and claim I have an outstanding account balance, even though I already paid my final payment. If you have any choice at all, do not go with this company! read more

Watching TV is an adventure. Every month, there's always something going wrong. Either the WIFI and/or watching TV. Also, everytime I call customer service, I'm on hold almost forever. This service is terrible. Better off going with Spectrum, T-Mobile, or Verizon. Never have a problem with them. Summit has serious issues. read more

Multiple house internet outages throughout the year lasting around a week or two each. The call center is run by Level 1 junior people just following a script. Unreliable ISP without an ITIL framework to support. Technician dispatch is typically two weeks from calling day. Zero to no urgency while regions are down. Monopoly regions are serviced last without any other option for ISP. I lived in several states, and this is by far the worst ISP. read more

As far as providing "internet" they meet the bare minimum standard. The call center staff are simply not educated enough to provide any real support. It's 2024 and they do not support IPV6, I consider that to be a major quirk and a problem. Considering third world countries have somehow managed to get their ISPs up to speed. An ISP which is a few clicks from some of the biggest data centers on the planet can't manage it? I think they should probably be bought by a more formalised ISP such as Att or Comcast. As much as I dislike the concept of giant Internet oligarchies and as much as I wanted to support municipal broadband initiatives. They simply do not make the cut. I'll deal with their internet service for a year and then move somewhere with better internet. read more

I was a "customer" for less than 24 hours... called in to get a secondary fiber connection installed. Was set to be installed 9-13-23 between 1 and 3. Got a missed call from them 7 minutes before install time, no voicemail, no email, nothing. Tried calling back, got into the generic menu loop. Waited about 45 minutes more, and logged into the portal and saw that the install had been rescheduled to the next day, without any input from me if that would even work. Called into the office again, spoke to a very pleasant person, asked what was going on, her response was "I have no idea why they rescheduled it, but it would have been nice if they'd left you a message"... no kidding! At this point I said "if this is how you'll treat customers before they're customers, just go ahead and cancel the installation". Which to the best of my knowledge she did. I recently moved into a new apartment complex. they offer a base of 100mbps included with our rent. they said I had to call to setup an account with summit, which I did. I was told it was basically plug and play since my services were active.. I chose to bring my own router to setup. I called in like I was instructed to do so and the rep on the phone couldn't get it working. I called back and was on the phone for over an hour with this rep who said the box in the closet was definitely not what I was looking for and that there should be a box somewhere that'll give me access to the node that basically transmits data to the router. I ended up calling back again and got another lady on the phone and she insisted that we should be able to activate on the phone. she said my services were active. She said that she would need to put in a ticket to have the engineers work on it and that she would call me back in 2 hours and never did. I then called back and asked to just use their router, which I have to pay an additional $10 a month to use. my complex charges $65 a month for 100mbps. I upgraded my speeds through summit for an additional $35 for 1gbps/1gbps speeds in addition to the $10 for the router. im now paying $105 a month for internet that is beyond subpar. the guy came out to install. he found the white box in my closet that I insisted was correct and the lady on the phone said no. he then found the router that was in there and activated my services on it and then left the router behind that he brought with him. I am now being told that I need to return the router that the driver left here or I'll be charged for it. ALSO, my speeds are sitting around 200/100 and im paying for 1000/1000 speed. I was also charged an $85 installation fee, when internet was already active when i moved in. I chatted with summit and the agreed to credit my account in 48 hours and they never did. I've had spectrum for years and years and never had issues like this. summit needs to do better. it doesn't seem fair to be charged all of this money when service doesn't work properly for the cost. also, some websites, apps on my phone/Apple TV and my Google smart devices won't connect to this Wi-Fi at times because you don't have access to the 2.5GHZ and 5GHZ frequency. read more
