Chad gave us great advice about our leaky shower that led to us being able to figure out a big problem and spent literal hours with me explaining the answers to my various questions. During his visit, we noticed a pipe leading into our house had begun to drip and scheduled a return visit for another day. Later, we got a call from Summers informing us that we wouldn't need the later appointment because they would be able to return and solve the problem that afternoon! Chad came back out with Diondre and they spent another few hours fixing that and installing something else we'd requested. They were both fantastic - trustworthy and helpful folks and we'll definitely be continuing to use Summers' services after this experience with them. It's a pity the people working for them don't have competent management, because I'd happily work with any individual technician again. But the administration is beyond incompetent. In order: Every time we called for a plumber, we were repeatedly redirected to different offices, both of which said they didn't service our area and sent us to the other one. They informed us they'd be switching us to a monthly contract at the end of our current annual contract. They then immediately began charging us the monthly fee, and didn't stop nor refund us for months. They over-booked, and attempted to move our AC service from early May to *September,* forcing us to go to a different provider. When we requested a partial refund for failure to actually honor our contract, we were put on their do-not-service list. Once again, they took months to provide this refund. After all of that, they just sent us a text message asking us to come back as a client. read more

Summers came and serviced my AC in May 2023 then in September my furnace would not come on. I called Summers again and they found that on the previous visit my gas valve was turned off. Summers charged me $150 to turn my gas valve inside my furnace on again. They turned it off to begin with and it took them less than a minute to turn it back on. I tried to contact the manager several times by phone and email but their manager was "too busy" to return my call. There is no customer service and I would never recommend them to anyone. I talked to one of the service guys and he remembered laughing about it in the office. They are not trustworthy and I would rate a zero if possible. read more

Be aware that Summers will provide you with a form listing everything they supposedly completed. In my case, three items were listed as being completed/checked on my furnace that were not. A critical one was a CO2 check. When I complained to the manager, he said that the tech checked the completion for this by mistake. By mistake! Wow. And he claims the tech is a senior tech. There's much more, as documented in our email exchanges, but I hope my brief comments help inform you what others have said in their reviews. You can't trust what they say. read more

If I could give a zero I would. Bloomington IN company sold my 87-year-old mother a maintenance agreement on their HVAC/water heater system (very expensive product by the way). Maintenance agreement payments were made on time via automatic withdraw from bank card. The maintenance agreement was canceled in August '24. Unbeknownst to my mother at the time of cancellation there was an outstanding balance of approximately $100. The last payment was not withdrawn from her account as a new card was issued due to some fraudulent charges. Two days ago she called Summers for a furnace issue and was told of the balance, which she promptly paid with her new card. Last evening her furnace quit completely and she requested emergency service. She was told that someone would call and come out that evening. There was no call! Inquiring this morning she was told she was "on a no service list". I understand it is possible Summers may have tried to contact her to let her know of the balance. However, she received no physical bill, continuing to be unaware of the balance. My mother pays her bills on time if not weeks or days early. This is not a local company who cares about their customers. Which is demonstrated by leaving and 87-year-old without heat during below freezing temperatures. They seem only to be concerned about up-selling expensive products and maintenance agreements. Update: the balance she owed was $33.98!! read more

Summers just contacted me again to schedule a plumbing maintenance visit as part of my membership plan (which I paid for up front). I informed him (second time I've informed the company) that I am not interested in working with them. He said that if I want to cancel the membership I'd have to pay them $108.65 for discounts I've received with my (already paid for) membership. I responded that I'm assuming they'll refund my membership payment and to calculate the difference and send me that figure. He said they'll give no refund because I didn't hold the membership for 12 months. I told him that I'm not going to pay them to not work with them and that after this ridiculous conversation, I'm considering contacting the Better Business Bureau. Called Summers to hook up kitchen faucet, garbage disposal, and reconnect gas stove due to having countertops replaced. Was not told of the $99 service fee to come give an estimate. Estimate came in at $547 to reconnect existing faucet and garbage disposal. I did not need to purchase anything from them as I already had everything. This is absolutely an unreasonable charge to do a hook up. We did not have the work done by Summers. Called a reasonable plumber to do the work. Work didn't take more than 1 hour to reconnect so the price Summers wanted was unbelievable. Glad to give my money to a plumber that was fair. read more

Made an appointment two weeks in advance to tune-up my A/C unit. They texted me the day before saying they would be there. This is a rental unit and I live 3.5 hours away. Rescheduled my whole day to be there. I get a text at 9:30 the next day saying they have too many emergency calls and I need to reschedule. Oh. I will. With a different company. Staff did not listen when we explained the problem that we have been dealing with, and having fixed with not trouble, for more than 20 years. Staff did NOT do the job asked of them. We did not know the job had not been completed as asked until sewer backed up again less than a week later. Summers staff returned and wanted to charge the ridiculous amount for the as second time for the job they didn't do as asked the first time. One week later, problems again!!!!!! We were not about to call Summers a THIRD TIME as they clearly do not know what they are doing and didn't try to figure out the problem. We ended up paying a second company to come out today and complete the work and fix the problem the right way. read more

My furnace was having issues. So I called Summers to bring out a technician. I was due to have my annual inspections I thought he would do more. When he inspected, he said the circuit board was burnt, the heat exchange had rust and was on the verge of a hole going through the metal, and my primary motor was having chunks of rust falling into, making the noise. I thought I needed to have a new furnace. I am glad I received a second opinion. Not only were those problems not the cause when another service inspected, but the technician was more experienced and managed to correct the problem. All this to say Summers is focused on selling you their products. If you want your appliance to be fixed, call someone else. read more

We just got a all new furnace and ac unit installed and the pipes they put in for the gas started to leak and we called to try and get it repaired and they are telling us we are not in there service area and they will call the main office tomorrow to see so now we have no heat and hot water on this 20 degree night read more

Was promised a phone call to schedule two services, that I have already paid for and now about 24 hours later, no call. Free estimate that was requested was rescheduled three times. Appears the only time they actually show up as promised is when there is a check at the end of the rainbow. To add to this poor review I have finally been able to schedule the PAID FOR plumbing inspection and although they have my money the earliest they will provide this service to me is February 2021. Mind you I write this review in August 2020. While I registered a verbal complaint the only the staff will say is that there is nothing else I can do. Apparently the management of this company does not care about its customers. I would not recommend this company to anyone. It is a real shame because the technicians are good and hard working. I have a contract with Summers Heating & Air Conditioning to do tube-ups on my equipment. Had a confirmed appointment for 10/27/23 for the tune-up on my furnance. After arranging to be home on this date, I receive a text at 11:30 AM, that they were too busy and would have to reschedule my service to 12/29/23. Your response is unacceptable. Imagine stopping into a restaurant, or ordering from a restaurant for delivery. Before you place your order, you are charged $89.00 for "diagnosis". After some time studying, we determine that you are hungry. The solution to your hunger would be for you to eat. Since the diagnosis is complete, you may now decide how you will curb your hunger, but there will be a cost in addition to the $89.00 that you have already been charged. I cnoose not to pay for your pretty vans. In the end, a leaky pipe is all that I needed. Thankfully, I was able to secure a plumber to solve my problem without the most important "diagnosis". With just a little research, customers will find that every other plumber is less expensive than this company. While you are welcome to fund those pretty vans, I choose to pay a fair price for a fair service - something Summers cannot offer. read more

I've had the same experience other people have had - this business with burnt,scorched or scored circuit boards on an older furnace, or dirty fans or whatever else they come up with to scare you into thinking a catastrophic failure is imminent. Do. Not. Buy. It. In other words... Beware. These guys are in the business of upselling you product. Repair and maintenance are only vehicles to upsell expensive replacements. Scare tactics are the game. Recently, they did this to my Mother - I've been in the building maintenance business for a while - so I spotted their nonsense immediately. My Mom however, almost was suckered into it. Luckily, I caught what was going on and sent a reputable contractor to check it out. Yeah, she has 5 - 8 years of life still in her equipment. These guys are unscrupulous. My advice: Either take everything they say with a grain of salt - or better yet - get a contractor you can trust - because they ain't it. read more

We had a severe water leak in our master bathroom. We called Summers Heating and Cooling and they were at our residence within two and a half hours (we had shut off the water to the house). Travis Wisley was professional and quick. Travis had everything corrected within 20m minutes. Travis has excellent customer service skilled and was quick and efficient. read more

We have a new HVAC system (under 2 years old). The company who holds the warranty was not impressive in the summer when the AC when out and left us without AC in 90+ degree heat for 10 days. So we set up with Summers maintenance plan. They came out on Friday to do the annual maintenance on the heater. All looked good. Adjusted the gas flow from 4.5 to 3.5. That was it. By Sunday, no heat. We called, no one could come out on Sunday. We'll be there Monday. On Monday, the gas valve is not functioning properly (interesting since it was just adjusted on Friday). A new one will be installed tomorrow. Tuesday comes, no one calls. We call them. Oh, it had to be ordered we'll be out tomorrow. Weds comes, no one calls. We call them. It still isn't here, should be here tomorrow. Thurs comes, no one calls. Still no part, but this will get kicked up to management. We should hear something from them in about 2 business days. I am completely beside myself at this point. We went with Summers because we didn't want a repeat of what happened this summer with Peterman, but it is exactly the same. My gas fireplace has been running so much no telling what my gas bill will be this month, and no one can even tell me where the part is. I don't run a giant corporation, but I can usually track a package fairly reliably. I'd try another company, but I feel like we're in too far at this point to change lanes. Update 10/21/22 A customer advocate did contact me after I posted this review. They were able to obtain the required part and did come out and get it replaced on 10/20/22. I appreciate the customer service response, but I am confused as to why I had to post a negative review to get it. Ultimately, we are happy and warm. read more

Consider this my review of Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling of Bloomington. Thank you for the FIFTH day/night in a row that its been above 85 in my house. Its nearly 90 degrees in my house. I called last thursday and your receptionist informed me that the problems i was having with my LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD UNIT would still result in a diagnostic fee, and she "googled" my unit and said i just needed to replace the battery. By the way, the unit has no battery. Fast forward to today where your tech came out and had absolutely no idea what the problem was, but did find out that your team didn't replace the wiring upon install. Let me get this straight. My family spent almost $8,000 on a new heat pump and you KEPT the wiring? Are you kidding? Then your guy doesn't want to go up to the attic to replace the wiring but oops, he had already cut it! So he wants to drill a hole through my wall. Before that, my dad says gee, you think you want to test the thermostat first before we go doing that? Good thing, because your tech said it didnt work. Oh the bad news? He cant take the thermostat into the office until tomorrow morning and prep it for warranty work. And he isnt sure when theyll be out with a new one. Maybe tomorrow, maybe not. You installed this unit on 11Jan20. There is NO WAY this is not covered. My son has lived on his rescue inhaler due to this heat and humidity. I have NEVER posted a terrible review and tagged the place but i am OVER it. Get your butts out to my house and get me a/c! Or i want my $8,000 back! read more

We have a contract with Summer's HVAC for service 3 times a year. Once for the furnace, once for the AC, and once for plumbing. They come out and check over every thing and are always good at what they do. Never get dirt in the house, friendly, and always on time. They sent Caleb and Chris, Chris is a new guy and Caleb has been here before. Very nice and both did a great job. I am very happy with the work they do and will get a new contract next year. read more

I submitted a request to look at my heat pumps for fall tuneup AND to install a part into my gas stove. Man who came tried to sell me $2200 of lights for "mold," didn't clean the furnace filters, then said he didn't have the expertise for the gas stove but would have someone call me. l waited 2 weeks. After I made several calls, explained the situation, and heard about asking the supervisor and calling me back, I've received no callback, no nothing, and it's been a month. The fan on my heat pump went out and I called Summers to diagnose the problem and see how much it would cost to fix. I was told the unit was too old to be fixed (1980s) and was then subjected to a sales pitch for a new heat/ac unit to the tune of $10,000+. I decided to call another company and they came out, quickly diagnosed the problem (capacitor and fan motor), and fixed it that same day. I later recalled the Summers guy who came out was in a spotless uniform that looked as though he's never fixed anything while wearing that. While the other company rep who came out was in a uniform of a true wrench-turner. It's obvious Summers is in the business of SELLING and NOT FIXING. I'll not bother contacting them again...ever. read more

I had been with Summers for years and I was never really happy with their maintenance plan because they would always put off my maintenance visits for emergency visits....which I understand to some extent, but I did deal with that, as irritating as that was (taking off work and such). When I did buy equipment from them, which I did...a lot....I always felt like I was getting ripped off, although I couldn't actually figure out how. They were always some smooth talkers and I fell for it. I belonged to their maintenance program which had a small fee withdrawn each month. I lost my debit card and had to have it replaced. This was the account from which Summers drew their fee. Now... ultimately, I realize it is my responsibility to make sure that my financial affairs are in order, but I honestly overlooked this small automatic withdrawal. I heard nothing from Summers, as a courtesy and so... eventually they dropped us from the program. I am not sure how long they waited to drop us. This is all fair. Noticing that I haven't heard from them to schedule maintenance on my plumbing, heating and cooling, I called them. This is when they told me that I had been dropped. Ok...so... before all of this, I buy a $5500 air conditioning unit from them in 2017...a Lennox....supposed to be "the best". I had to have them come out 3 times because it wasn't keeping up in the first year alone. It was under warranty, so all was covered.I just called because, once again, it isn't keeping up. It's 2 years old. They told me the 10 year warranty was only good if I had kept up the maintenance plan!!! I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS!! My 10 year warranty is null and void. Ok....but it is my absolute belief that they make a pretty good living on ripping people off in this fashion. Yes, they have me....technically they are right...but this is sneaky and deceitful and bad business. I believe the only reason they didn't reach out to me was because they wanted that warranty on a bad air conditioner to go away.....nice. I called Summers to schedule an install for my bathroom and kitchen faucets. The girl I spoke with needs extra training in customer service. I told her what I needed and she immediately told me when they would be out, without even asking me what day would work for me. The day that she suggested, is a work day, so I told her I was off on Mondays. She immediately told me a service man would be out Monday March 29th, without asking me if this would work for me. Then I asked her how much it would be, and she told me $89, to come out. I asked her how much after that, and she just told me I would have to discuss that with the service man. I asked her what time would he be out, and she said he would call me 30 min in advance. Who wants to wait all day, on their day off? She couldn't even tell me a time frame. I told her to never mind. Not a good way to do business. I have been in customer service for 40 years, and the way I was treated was unacceptable . I will never recommend this company. read more
