Best decision ever! We ordered our food for pick up and it was ready as promised. Inside was your typical pizza place. We shared 3 pizzas: The Cadillac (Prosciutto, Gorgonzola, Parmesan, Fig Preserves, Balsamic Glaze), The Ambassador Bridge (Natural Casing Pepperoni, Sausage, Fresh Garlic, Oregano, House-Made Ricotta), and one other more typical topping pizza. They were all amazing but The Ambassador Bridge was my favorite. We also got the arugula salad- the orange zest and lemon vinaigrette really brightened it and made the salad special.

The bartender was awesome, super friendly and great service. We shared a large Caesar salad and a small Detroit-style Hawaiian pizza, which had pepperoni instead of the usual ham. The Detroit-style has a thick but light and chewy crust that's kind of crispy on the outside. I wouldn't normally order a pizza with pineapple but this really hit the spot. The combination of pineapple sweetness, jalapeño heat, pepperoni spice and chewy crust was spot on. The Caesar salad was very good with a nice touch of cheese crisp. The service was excellent, fast and friendly. We were there on a Tuesday, which is BOGO for any Detroit-style pizza. A great deal! Via313 is definitely on our top pizza list and we'll be back.

So when I found myself near the Cameron Road location recently, nostalgia took the wheel and I thought, What the heck? I'm getting a burger and fries. I was excited. Like, mouth-watering-while-waiting-in-line with anticipation! (if you didn't read that last word with a Dr. Frank-N-Furter vibe, who even are you?!) I pulled up, placed my order, and waited patiently -- happily, even -- because waiting usually means things are being cooked fresh. I paid, waited a bit more, and when my food was handed to me, the bag was hot. Promising! I drove home already mentally composing a happy little reunion speech. Then I opened the burger. ...uhmmm. What?! This was not the burger I remember. At all. The flavor just wasn't there. Flat. Forgettable. Sad. Surely the fries would save it, right? Friends... no. The fries tasted like an old bag of forgotten freezer fries, discovered during a deep clean, briefly tossed into the fryer, and handed to an unsuspecting customer whose only crime was believing in crispy, fresh potatoes. I was that victim, y'all. And look -- I understand that places change. Times change. Austin changes (painfully). But this felt less like evolution and more like the soul quietly slipping out the back door. Hill-Bert's, like so much of the Austin I loved, has left the building. I wanted this to be a joyful reunion. Instead, it was a reminder that sometimes it's okay to let good memories stay memories.

Lettis was fresh. No tomatoe on my burger and nearly no onion nor mayonnaise. Onion rings were good. Wings only come in Buffalo sauce. Now the prices are fair based on all that. This restaurant is the halfway point between mine and my boyfriend's house. So if I want to pick up some good dinner on the way I will call in our order to Shogun and pick it up. Our typical order is the Mikado special for him and Chicken or shrimp Teppanyaki for me. The orders, even the kids menu items come with rice, veggies, house salad, onion soup and a shrimp appetizer. Every visit over the past 4 years, even last night, The greeters and the takeout hosts have always been super friendly and prompt with orders. There's a full bar so you're welcome to order a drink while you wait. I've been known to order a glass of wine on one or five my visits. :) The food is a bit pricey but you get a lot for what you pay for. The flavor is always been good and consistent. I love the onion soup and the house salad. I'll never order the cucumber salad again because it has imitation crab on it and it's just not my prefer type of cucumber salad. I love Japanese and Korean cucumber salad but not this one. And that's okay. If you like imitation crab in your cucumber salad, give it a try. Anywho, as long as this man is my man and this is remains our halfway point, I'm sure I'll be ordering takeout many more times :)
