Apart from being the only shop that sells children's clothing in Edgartown, NRO Kids is actually…read morereally great -- their selection of clothing, sleepwear and toys is adorable, and if I could purchase on of everything for my niece, I probably would. The only thing? It's on the pricey side, so I'll stick with one or two items, thankyouverymuch. The shop is attached to the adult version, simply NRO, and both sides sell lovely higher-end brands of beautiful wears for summering on the Vineyard. They carry a particularly cute line from a company called Rickshaw that features traditional block print designs on floaty, summery dresses and tops and a great line of pajamas called Hatley's. If you're on a budget, this probably isn't the shop for you as dresses for 18-month-olds start in the $50 range and some even go for triple that. However, the jammies I mentioned are super cute and retail for $35. A little pricey, but well made and well worth it. The clerks were stand-offish, unhelpful and cold, which I find off-putting especially in a children's store. In fact, the gentleman behind the counter actually scared my 21-month-old niece so much, she ran to me saying, "I"m scared!" If you're going to work in a children's shop, one of the most important requirements should obviously be 'must like children'. I mean, c'mon. Other than the unfriendly service, I think NRO Kids is a charming little shop and definitely fun to pop into for a bit of ooh-in and aaah-ing.

This store has some very cute clothing. I went yesterday and stood there at the cash register with…read moretwo very expensive girl's dresses in my hands and waited and waited to be checked out. But the two sales people were deep in conversation at the back of the store and never even looked at me. I was not going to go ask them for help, because that is not my job. I put the dresses back and left.

On the red walls you might discover a zebra nonchalantly posing in a box. Or, perhaps an extravagant floral headpiece atop a beauty's head. My favorite this year was the addition of finely created Vineyard landscapes. When I first came upon Horowitz's work, I imagined his pieces in an elegant traditional home. He captures the real essence of Vineyard, the rarely observed locations unlike many other art works traditionally offered here. I always feel better after a walk around in this Gallery. If you haven't experienced Elizabeth Eisenhauer, you are in for a real treat with a gal who is respectful, entertaining and loaded with information about most anything relative to art trends and other well thought of venues on the Vineyard. The Eisenhauer offers some of the most sophisticated art in Edgartown- even island wide. There are so many galleries in Edgartown but do yourself a favor and make a point of stopping in here. You won't find those wishy washy scenes of lighthouses, tentatively painted and overpriced. You WILL find bold, exciting and "must-have" pieces, perfect for your island summer home. Every single thing in here would look GREAT in my new place. Just saving up my hard earned pennies to make it a reality.
