Apart from being the only shop that sells children's clothing in Edgartown, NRO Kids is actually really great -- their selection of clothing, sleepwear and toys is adorable, and if I could purchase on of everything for my niece, I probably would. The only thing? It's on the pricey side, so I'll stick with one or two items, thankyouverymuch.
The shop is attached to the adult version, simply NRO, and both sides sell lovely higher-end brands of beautiful wears for summering on the Vineyard. They carry a particularly cute line from a company called Rickshaw that features traditional block print designs on floaty, summery dresses and tops and a great line of pajamas called Hatley's.
If you're on a budget, this probably isn't the shop for you as dresses for 18-month-olds start in the $50 range and some even go for triple that. However, the jammies I mentioned are super cute and retail for $35. A little pricey, but well made and well worth it.
The clerks were stand-offish, unhelpful and cold, which I find off-putting especially in a children's store. In fact, the gentleman behind the counter actually scared my 21-month-old niece so much, she ran to me saying, "I"m scared!" If you're going to work in a children's shop, one of the most important requirements should obviously be 'must like children'. I mean, c'mon.
Other than the unfriendly service, I think NRO Kids is a charming little shop and definitely fun to pop into for a bit of ooh-in and aaah-ing. read more
