So this year I bought 2 sweatshirts even though the price increased $10 over last year. (Didn't want to pay the shipping fee). When I saw the package I thought there was only 1 sweatshirt. But to my surprise there were 2 sweatshirts, but they were a lot thinner than last year. So, I followed the Return instructions and I was annoyed for the $10 fee. It took 2 weeks for the company to recognize the return which was yesterday. According to customer service, I have to wait another 10 days for the credit to be issued to my credit card! Whhhhaaatttt? For a legacy Cape Cod business, I find their practice to be absolutely horrid! Quality is in the toilet and your'e sitting on my cash for a month. Bye, bye Black Dog!

Went in today and the woman working the register was super kind. She even recommended I hold onto my receipt since they do exchanges (no returns) within about 10 days. Fair enough -- that's pretty standard for the smaller island shops. Unless you're at the bigger brands like Lululemon, Faherty, or Vineyard Vines, expect exchange-only. Great service either way. Highly recommend if you're in Edgartown.

Kokonuts has the coolest Martha's Vineyard shirts I've ever seen! The shop also has shirts, jeans, bathing suits, bags, hats... I even found the size of sun hat I'd been looking for since 1995. Remember the movie "Practical Magic"? Aunt Fran's hat! THAT size was there, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it yet so I bought the MV shirt and a bracelet that says "I am PEACE" (because I am). I must give a special shout-out to Celine, who was incredibly helpful and happy to be there! It's a rarity to come across an employee who takes such pride and joy in their work. She was so awesome, we had to go back and visit her on our way back to the ferry. Two more shirts were bought AND the hat! I hope Celine is there when I return to the island. She made my day and added to my enjoyment of MV all around. :-)

The clothing, which features men's and women's mainstream sizes (I didn't observe any plus sizes), is very sporty and androgynous, and prices run about $28 for a t-shirt, $68 for a hoodie, $148 for a men's plaid button-down, $110 and up for sunglasses, $68 beach towel, and a variety of very delicate jewelry with petite pendants on fragile-looking chains that spoke of understated, modern elegance. Nothing here is overtly feminine, and the sportiness is further driven home by the presence of several giant windsurfing boards mounted along the wall near the back of the store. It's not the kind of store I'd personally shop in, because as I mentioned above, they don't carry plus sizes in women's clothing, nor do they share my aesthetic for jewelry, etc....But I feel it's important to give credit where credit is due, and I cannot stress enough what an awesomely humane gesture it is for a shop to make such an effort to make their store accessible to ALL people, whether able-bodied or those who live in wheelchairs.

The staff in this location are friendly and helpful. Black Dog has 30 locations, with 90% in MA. I love that they give back to the local community, frequently hosting the local animal shelter and service dog nonprofit Dogs for Better Lives in their store. My childhood dog was a black lab. I will forever smile at their logo and buy their clothing. It's both childhood and Cape Cod nostalgia for me.
