Medium-sized outlet. Good assortment of clothing and a small collection of outdoor gear. Friendly and helpful folks.

I really, really used to like this store, spent thousands for hiking gear there over the last 10…read moreyears. However, I saw print, online and outside the store advertising for a 70% off sale, and went in. Not a single item was as advertised. Nothing at all for the advertised sale prices, a few, very few 30% off sale items, but nothing else. The manager had no reason why, seemed flustered by the question and quickly went outside to take the big sign by the road down. He said he had no idea there was nothing on sale. Great manager. Another employee suggested they had sent back all the other stuff that would have actually been on sale, which made no sense at all. As I said, used to love EMS, but have noticed a big decline in the customer service aspects of the company lately. I will not be going back at all. L.L. Bean will be getting my money from now on.

Given all that good stuff, it seemed odd that they couldn't order the shoe sizes we wanted, that they didn't have on hand, and pick them up in the store... we had to go home, go online to their website, and order them from there to our house. We would have rather just come back to the store to pick them up, but apparently you can only do instore pickup on items that the store already has in stock.

They like biking, hiking, camping, climbing and etc. they know the lingo, they know their merchandise, and they are always willing to help the customer. Hingham Derby Street Shops... well, parking is plentiful, I do tend to park in the back. Never jammed up back there. If you plan on buying anything, you will want to bring your own bag as the chain is 'bag free'. Prices are very good. Competitive with Amazon.com and better than Cabela's. I used to go to the store in Framingham when I was in metro west, also the store in Reading... I'm not sure if both are still there. Shopping since '96, Co-Op member since '12. No negatives,

They have basically anything you need for outdoors activities. I've usually shopped for hiking gear and camel backs or osprey / rei branded stuff. Also got a pair of hiking boots. They have plenty of sales going on, bicycles standard and electronic assisted, survival gear, clothing from all sorts of brands, boots and hiking gear, camping gear, lanterns, knives, paddles, water shoes, and also have deals on traded in gear. Nice experience. Love walking around and looking at stuff i probably don't need but it's a cool tool or utility purposed item.
