I have terrible feet and have always had an awful time getting properly fitted shoes without having to pay exorbitant prices. My first time in this store, well, every time is impressive to see the amount of quality brand name shoes in this store. The owner, MaryAnn, knows all of her inventory and knows it well. Doubt her and you'll get an earful of shoe knowledge you weren't expecting! Some may construe this as rude but it is her way of telling you she knows what she's talking about! And boy does she ever! She is an amazing one woman show! I have had the pleasure of getting to know her after several, um, numerous visits to shod my crazy old feet! One rather dreary afternoon I stopped by and while trying on her recommendation of shoes, we started talking on a more personal level. Blown away by the help and service from Mary Ann. I have been buying shoes online for a family member with very swollen feet and nothing has worked. Maryann took the time to walk me through the process and gave me a loaner pair to try on since my aunt lives off cape. I came here looking for a new pair of high quality sandals. I found a pair of Ecco Off-road sandals, that were a pit pricey, but seem to be what I needed. There was only one person here, dealing with multiple customers. They seem to have a decent inventory. Pros: -Good amount of inventory. - Great location -Nice retail appearance -Friendly service Cons: - Some items are marked with "Sale" Pricing, but a quick check shows that these "discounted" prices are actually the MSRP. My husband decided on a Saturday to take a nap. I was in our little cottage and was going stir crazy so I decided to find a shoe store. I needed back to school shoes. I did a quick search on Yelp and found this spot. The outside is less than impressive but the shoe variety is fantastic. The majority of the shoes would fall into the category of comfortable they ranged in price from $250 to $25. There is truly something for everyone. When I visited the other day the lovely woman who was working insisted on measuring my feet to be sure I had the right size. Come to find out that I was wearing a size 7.5 WW but my shoe size actually should have been 8.5 W! My feel always hurt but I figured it was just my feet. After trying on the correct size it was a huge light bulb moment....my feet didn't hurt! I have since gone on a long walk with the new sneakers and it is like night and day. Was in need of sneakers & boots for my 5 year old. Check out a few stores at the mall but could not find anything suitable. Was recommended to stop by here so we made the trip over. Didn't look like much from the outside he we really needed shoes so we went in . So happy we did! Great brand name kid shoes such as Bogs, Keen, See Kai Run, Merrell to name a few. Could not have had a better experience at the Shoe Market. This place has been around for years and I have always found what I needed there. Good selection and competitive prices considering it is summer on Cape Cod. Came in with a very specific idea of what I needed (dress shoes for a wedding...very hard to find anything dressy on Cape Cod let alone a brand besides Sperry...) and David was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They will order what you want if your size/fit happens to be out of stock (which is rare).They have shoes/boots/slippers for everyone- men, women, children, and even those of us with difficult-to-fit feet. If you love shoe shopping or just need a great pair of shoes, this is the place for you. I had to return a pair of sneakers i purchased for my mother and they happily accepted the return - no problem. I've been a regular at Cape Cod Shoe Market for over 30 years! Ever since I was a little girl, I'd go here twice each year for new shoes. Until recently, I LOVED the selection of shoes, and the confidence that they would always carry my size. This past weekend, I went to the Cape Cod Shoe Market with my husband and son with the intention of buying sandals for each of us. The experience was terrible. There was only 1 associate to help customers retrieve shoes from the back. Even though there were only 6 customers in the store at the time, this 1 associate was overworked and overwhelmed. The associate made it very clear he did not want to measure my son's foot, and was not at all familiar with the styles or choices in shoes. All the while, there were 3 cashiers standing around doing nothing. Nobody was buying shoes because nobody could get any help. My husband finally asked one of the cashiers if she could help her colleague in assisting customers, and she replied, "I've worked here for 18 years. I'm a cashier only. I don't sell shoes". I have had nothing but great experiences at this store. The negative review below was probably one of the more surprising things I have ever read. Never once in my 20+ years of shopping here have I had a problem with a return (The policy is very easy to understand). The owner is one of the nicest and most reasonable women I have ever met and the comments below I simply don't agree with. I can't speak to that day or to whom the reviewer may have thought was the owner but that is something I can't even imagine occurring in this store especially from the owner. I felt that was important to note before talking about the store itself. Now, on to the shoes... There is a wide selection of mens, womens, and childrens shoes. Both my wife and I have never had a problem finding what we're looking for either for ourselves or for gifts for others. The few times we haven't been able to find a size or a style, the staff has always been helpful and often will special order if at all possible. The selection is quality, and with quality comes price, but I have never found the prices to be unreasonable at all. The service is absolutely top notch and everyone is always helpful with suggestions or fitting. Not to mention, this is FULL-SERVICE. You can hardly find that anywhere nowadays. I recommend this store to anyone who is looking for shoes either as a casual shoe shopper, for work, medical needs etc. It truly is a special place and has been around for such a long time for good reason. Avoid this shoe store at all costs. The owner is incredibly rude which is unfortunate because the sales people are terrific. Will not be purchasing any more shoes there after being treated poorly this summer. Supposedly contacted the shoe manufacturer to obtain a missing button from my shoe but my shoe repair shop was unable to fix it because the rivet for the button was missing. Either she is incompetent or uncaring and wasn't interested in providing good customer service. She also berated my Mom in front of other customers. In any case, we are finished shopping there. Since I have discovered your store, I wouldn't go anywhere else and I live north of Boston! My feet are extremely narrow (triple A front, quad A heel) so you can imagine my problem with a proper fit. I had the nicest salesperson, named David, to wait on me. He took the time to measure my feet and recommend several styles that might fit me. I was so impressed with him to take the time to listen to me. David was just like a foot doctor. In fact, I asked him if he ever was! I buy all my shoes from him and I have brought several people there with foot problems and David fit them to a "T". They were very happy and have recommended their friends and family. This is a great place to buy shoes if you like to be treated rudely and with contempt while paying top dollar prices. To be fair, they carry great brands and their selection is wonderful. They always have the newest styles in a wide range of sizes. That said, the real issue with this place, and the reason I will never shop here again after many years of patronage is the owner. She either ignores or browbeats customers, loudly espouses her political views to all within earshot and is famous for never, and I do mean never, allowing shoes to be returned, regardless of reason, ("I bought it for my grandson and it is too small" or "after getting them home, I realized they are too tight/big/the wrong color"), or condition, (never ever, ever worn). For the prices charged this place should be offering top notch customer service but the opposite is true. Believe me folks, there are plenty of other places to buy shoes on the cape, places with excellent selections and excellent customer service. Please patronize local businesses that welcome your business and strive to keep it by focusing on the customer. If bad attitude was a flame, this place should have burned down a long time ago. read more
