Very obscure and obtuse drive thru entrance. Lots of Karen's grinding their wheels against the curb. So be mindful if you decide to utilize this option. The immediate area reeks of petrol and oil from the adjacent highway. The buzz of the highway is loud. This is not an ideal or healthy location to sit and relax. Service is friendly and evenly paced. The servers themselves believe being artistic means you spent $20 for hair dye at hot topic and you're suddenly meaningful at deep prophetic levels. The coffee itself was okay. Perfecto! I needed a good coffee after being awake much of the night. Summer Moon? Yes please! Plenty of parking, including a drive thru. The interior with tasteful and muted decor, comfortable lighting and friendly servers is a welcoming breaks for caffeine. The drinks are amazing, there's a good selection and the server is happy to help with menu descriptions and choices. I prefer the quarter winter moon. Summer moon has a special syrup blend with half and half called moon milk. Is this the secret to their happy drinks of perfection? Perhaps. The coffee beans are roasted with wood fire. We recently moved from Maryland to Texas and have to find all new local spots. I drive past Summer Moon every day and didn't know it was a coffee spot because the signage says "wood fired" - giving me the impression that it was for a restaurant that specializes in grilled meats. It's turns out, they roast their coffee beans by wood fire. Before I took the girls on some Saturday errands, we swung by summer moon cuz this momma is a coffee lover and was in NEED of caffeine. It's a beautiful coffee shop that has a very modern and open feeling (super high ceilings). Lots of tables were occupied with patrons drinking coffee, on their laptops, playing chess, or having conversations. All good vibes. The staff were super friendly and very patient with me. I told her it was my first time and I didn't understand what half moon or quarter moon meant. She explained that they have their own "moon milk," which is a blend of heavy cream, spices, etc. The full moon is like 100% sweetness, with a quarter moon @ 25%. Most of their lattes are made with half moon & she recommended you start with half to see if you like the amount of sweetness. I ordered the iced autumn moon latte. It was oh so perfectly fall in a cup! Not too sweet and not overly spiced. The eldest ordered a frozen hot chocolate and she loved it. The youngest tried it and loved it too lol. Now the youngest got the frozen lemonade and wasn't a huge fan. To be fair, it was more of a lemony - less sugary - slush than your traditional lemonade. I liked it but she didn't lol. The eldest also ordered a kolache. The filling was plentiful but the bread but a bit chewy - kinda like when you microwave bread. Not terrible but I wouldn't go out of my way for the kolache. All in all, I really liked our first visit. This may just end up as my new local coffee spot! read more

Came here after walking out of Merit up the hwy. those people over there were all unhappy with life or there wasn't enough caffeine in their coffee. Upon making my way over to Summer Moon, I was greeted right away my a very happy young lady. The people here seemed to be more "alive". She offered me options and asked exactly how I wanted my latte. My drink was made right in front of me faster than I had a chance to look around and shop. All this AFTER the person behind me being greeted by name!! Pretty small location with minimal seating. Good if you're just looking to study or have a quick coffee date with friends. Inside is very calming and aesthetically pleasing. They have their merch available to buy there as well. My favorite drinks are the mocha moon and chai tea. They're so creamy and delicious & I Definitely Recommend those two! We kept reading about the matcha moon that is made with their homemade moon milk so we had to give it a try! I enjoyed the matcha moon but I do wish it had a little bit more matcha in it. WOW, that wood-fired taste of the beans! That smokey taste adds something special and unique to the taste of the coffee. I had the "Blue Moon Latte" which is a Lavender + Moon Milk (YES they have it with Oat Milk, as well as Coconut and Almond) + Wood-Fired Espresso = Delicious Adventure (their words not mine, but spot ON!!!). To pull from their website again (since they say it perfectly), it states they wanted to "create a distinctive, out-of-this-world, experience that people drive across town for". It's not the same animal as the N St Mary's Summer Moon location (#1), but this will do for folks who live in the north. Of the three locations in San Antonio, this is by far the smallest and probably most discreet. Thankfully the drinks is just as good as ever, which is why I still come here. For folks coming in to study / drink / pass the time, it is fairly comfortable. There is some outdoor seating, a decent amount of parking, and it's rarely ever busy. The vibe is considerably more laidback than its sister locations and the WiFI is pretty good. And of course, anything moon is excellent. I love the iced wintermoon as of late, but the classic summermoon is always a winner. I haven't found a better drink than the matcha moon, which I think will be my go-to drink from this point on. However, not all is perfect. First off, the drive-thru is so incognito that first timers will almost certainly miss it. There is no sign and it's not at all obvious that it's behind the parking lot and in the back of the building. While the service has been friendly for the most part, they are a little obnoxious with the semi-forced tipping. Summer Moon is a cute local coffee shop with various beverages and food options. I like that they have a menu with various sweetness levels built in because I often find default drinks too sweet. I had the hot quartermoon latte and my wife had the iced whispermoon. Both had perfectly acceptable amounts of sweetness. The espresso in the drinks tasted very good and I was happy with my drink. Went through the drive-thru at this new coffee shop. Staff was nice and helpful! They went into detail in explaining what their famous "moon milk" is made out of which sounds like very sweet heavy creamer. We got 2 quarter moons and 1 oatmilk latte. Our quartermoon lattes which were "a quarter moonmilk and 3/4 milk" were perfectly sweetened and delicious. I dont like too sweet drinks and this was the perfect amount of sweetness. The prices were great (a lot cheaper than San Diego). I knocked off a star because of the lack of variety in the menu. Summer Moon Coffee is the best! Not only do the coffees taste amazing, but service is always friendly and helpful! On my first visit, I didn't really know much about the menu. Thankfully a really helpful barista explained the menu and gave awesome recommendations. They make their own "moon milk", which is a creamer that goes into the signature summer moon lattes. The name of the latte indicates the level of sweetness. A "summer moon" is the sweetest all the way to a "whisper moon or 1/8 moon" being the least sweet. My favorite drink is the blue moon latte which has a hint of lavender and 1/4 of the moon milk. There's also a drive-thru window available if you don't have time to go inside, which is a definite plus! I think I've found my new favorite coffee place! read more

I've been to the Summer Moon downtown a while back and I was excited to try it again at this location. There is a sizable seating area inside as well as comfy couches outside. I ordered the Matcha Moon and was surprised by it! The moon milk combined with the matcha made the drink taste like green tea ice cream! However the matcha powder wasn't mixed well so there were bits of powder floating at the top. If you enjoy sweet and creamy coffee drinks, then summer moon is the best. The moon milk is really tasty. I have tried the moon glacier java chip, matcha moon, winter moon, and espresso milkshake. They were all really delicious. Parking can be tight since it's not a huge parking area in front of the shop. lso the price of the matcha moon is wrong on the menu and what they actually charge you. They charge you more than the menu price so beware of that if you order the matcha moon. Service is normal, nothing extraordinary. Would come back to try different drinks. read more

We had autumn moon lattes which tasted like a big warm fall hug...delicious! With all the yummy spices we couldn't tell the difference in their beans...wood-roasted coffee is supposed to be their claim to fame. We also split a cinnamon roll, which was tasty.
