She listens attentively to the style you are hoping to achieve, and if you're not sure what you want, she has a way of making very sound recommendations that match your needs with the open space to collaborate and work toward getting the right fit. I just got a fabulous cut and color, and I couldn't wait to show it off. I absolutely love the cut and colors she choose to match my natural hair color and skin, and I walked out of her cute little bungalow feeling confident, sassy, and beautiful! Becky is the most environmentally conscientious stylist I've met, and she will provide you with a list of products to steer toward and away from, but she never does it in a pushy way; she's available to impart her experience and knowledge if you want it with grace and patience. Becky strives to make you feel beautiful in a holistic way: After she put my color on, she set up a chair for me outside in her garden with a stool to rest my feet on and a Vanity Fair magazine among her lovely succulents and dynamic habitat. I have been seeing Becky for 5 years now and I have nothing but great things to say about her. I went to the salon today again and she reminded me how amazing a nice color/cut can make you feel. She shows so much care in the way she handles her clients! I know sometimes it can be difficult to convey to a stylist what you're looking for but Becky does her best to understand and it took us a few visits to get it right but just like a doctor or a massage therapist it takes time to build a relationship and once you do, its worth it. She now knows my hair really well (curly and difficult to manage) and is always open to change, a fresh look or just keeping a look going. On top of her skills she is also committed to a minimally toxic salon and that Suite One is just one chair, you are not sucking up fumes from another station and she offers completely chemical and synthetic free products and minimally toxic hair dye to boot. I have sent several pregnant friends to her as she offers EcoColors which she has explained to me is the least toxic on the market. Above and beyond being a great hair stylist she is also empathetic, a good listener and intelligent - she can talk about more than Hollywood gossip. On top of this she offers a discount to all first time clients - true value in an expensive world! The first time I went to Becky was in October. I wrote a review of her then (see it in my profile if you are interested) but she was working in a different salon. Now that Becky has a new place and I've had my hair done by her there I wanted to once again vouch for Becky's work. Becky has to be THE most conscientious stylist I've ever been to. Whether it be a concern for the environment, those who are going through Chemo, harmful hair product chemicals or your hair-do, she's all about it! I think it's pretty great and I hope other salons soon follow suit. Becky did a wonderful color and haircut for me. For my last hair color, I was a little on autopilot an wasn't very clear about my desires for my hair color. I didn't realize this until I first saw my hair color after it was washed. She could tell I wasn't totally in love with it and she immediately jumped into high gear with the damage control. After that I was much happier with the results. She really aims to please. I continue to get a lot of compliments on my cute Louise Brooks-style haircut that she executed. She does a great job with blow drying and she puts so much style and body into my hair it that it lasts a good few days! Whether you're looking for a long-term hair stylist or just need a fill in when yours is on vacation, I highly recommend checking out Becky at Suite One in San Rafael. Becky's welcome is always warm and inviting, the salon is very private (I'm not someone that feels comfortable sitting on display with product in my hair as people on the sidewalk pass by and stare..), and the setting itself is very clean and comfortable, with nice details (like always having fresh orchids in the salon and cool unique artsy touches throughout), as well as good chill music. I've been loyal to Becky for over 5 years (following her each time she changed salons), except for when I decide to do my own hair... Yes, sometimes it turns out perfect. Though there have been other times that it is less than perfect, and I've had to go to Becky to have her work her magic (I always leave feeling refreshed (after the BEST scalp massage ever!) and sexy with the platinum results she gets with my hair). Becky is also very professional (returning calls promptly and never missing appointments) AND extremely considerate of the environment (which is obvious in conversation, but also shows in her choice of toxic-free products). It has been almost two weeks since I went to Becky to get my hair cut for the first time and I am still singing her praises to everyone; I think this has to be by far the best haircut of my life - and for only $55, it is a great deal! She has a great way of looking at hair texture and working with it, instead of fighting it. My hair cuts seem to look awesome the first day but then when it comes time for me to style my new 'do, one side flips out and the other tweaks out, and although it looks fine, it looks nothing like the masterpiece I left the salon with. However, with my new cut, I am actually able to style it without any hassle and it looks as good as it did when she did it for me. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she's a very bright, fascinating woman and she actually uses hair products that are free of bad chemicals, which is a total rarity. I had such an amazing experience and would highly recommend her to anyone; in fact, one of my colleagues like my haircut so much, she already booked an appointment with Becky. I first discovered Becky earlier this year, having moved to Tiburon from New York in 2008, and have visited her four times so far. (I tried two different salons in Tiburon previously, but did not wish to return to either of them. They weren't bad, but they weren't great either.) I have curly hair, so right away there's a challenge, but each time Becky has given me a great cut that lasts a long time. Even my mother, who has been critical of my hair my entire life (no need to go into that but let's just say we're talking decades) loved the way I looked - truly a first! I don't fuss much with my hair, and have no patience for blow dryers, so it's an added bonus that the haircuts Becky has given me all look great just air-dried. Fabulous color, too. Her salon is intimate and calming, and Becky is a fun and interesting person to "hang out" with while having your done. BECKY IS AMAZING!!!! Not only is she a really nice and sweet person, but she is also a great hairstylist! I've gone to her a couple times after either trying to color my hair myself or having another stylist completely botch it up-- she fixes my hair, makes it beautiful and raises my self-esteem at the same time. (She even squeezed me in, probably during her lunch hour, just to fix my hair because it was so awful from a highlighting catastrophe. She was sooooo nice to see me that same day, I will be forever grateful) She also gives great haircuts (i went from medium length to shoulder length/short length and she did a great job)! Some notes: I have naturally dark hair with a lot of volume. My hair also has a lot of different colors/dyes in it, so she really is amazing with color! I got my haircut a couple of months ago from Becky, and have just now decided to review her because dang I still look good. That's the true test of a haircut--how does it grow out? How long do I look good? Becky's skill passes with flying colors. I went to her "beauty bungalow", the little studio she has set up behind her house. This place is awesome if you love a kitschy, vintagey atmosphere (which I do). She was even playing The Clash when I first got there (yay!). Becky gave me tea while the dye was doing its thang, and her dog hung out by my feet. Super comfy. Becky obviously cares about her clients. She gave me a lot of good, solid advice on hair care (especially good tips on how to use *less* product, if you can believe it), and listened carefully to my requests about the cut. She also chimed in when she thought my idea wouldn't quite work, and I listened to her (she's the professional, after all). I've been going to Becky for a couple of years,. Just after I egan going to her, she moved from Berkeley to San Rafael. Still go, though now it's bigger ordeal, but worth it. I have curly, difficult hair, which is colored. So she had her job cut out for her. My previous hairdresser was not capable/willing to do something different., so, although it mostly looked nice, it always looked the same. I was long past ready for a change and Becky took my hair, my reluctance and my naysaying and turned it into an exciting, comment-getting (good comments) hairstyle. I'm a new client of Becky's and boy am I thrilled to have found her...thrilled enough that I created an account on Yelp just to share my experience with everyone. She's a very thorough stylist who knows her stuff. My hair was medium-long the first time I saw Becky and I knew I wanted to go short, but wasn't sure about the style. She gave me some ideas and together we came up with something. I walked out of her salon with the sassiest of bobs. It's nice to feel so comfortable with someone upon first meeting them that you're willing to chop off all your hair without a second thought. I am new to the area and I am so glad the I searched on yelp to find a new hair dresser. When I read through the reviews for Suite One Salon I knew my chances of a good haircut were likely...but I was unaware of how great it would be!!! =) I went in knowing somewhat of what I wanted and after discussing with Becky I realized that I was in good hands and I could trust her with my hair (hard for any woman to do)! Becky rules, pure and simple. She gives me the cutest, sassiest hair I ever did have, and she makes it fun while it's happening. I heartily highly recommend Becky. Ever since relocating from LA a year and half ago I've been searching in vain for the right stylist, and in Becky, I found a wonderful cut as well as perfect highlights. Becky De La Rosa is awesome! I have been searching for a great stylist for years and have finally found her. I went to her to fix my color and fix my hair from the last butcher that I went to and she was great. The color? the best I have had in years. Her attention to detail and her eye for what looks good with your features is a rare gift. I have been walking around with bad hair cut for a year and she worked miracles to get it to look good. I can't wait to see what she can do when it grows out a little more and she has somethng more to work with, I can only foresee great things. Then to top it off, she is so nice. I have gotten my hair cut by Becky twice now and I really have nothing but good things to say about her. I love my hair cut. Becky listened to what I wanted and delivered above and beyond. I had never colored my hair before and had a good deal of anxiety about the process. Becky was patient, informative and put me at ease. I absolutely love the new color and had such a good experience. Becky De La Rosa is a true artist. She has transformed my drab curly hair into amazing, beautiful, shining locks that I love. She is the first stylist who really understands curly hair. Not only does she decide on the cut when my hair is dry she also reassesses after my hair has been cut and dried (so important, if your hair is curly and going to bounce). I've been getting my do done by Becky for almost a year now, having followed her from Berkeley to San Rafael. I love the intimacy of the one chair salon, and once you sit in that chair you can rest assured you are in good hands. Becky is thoughtful and careful, and really looks at what your head and hair can do before snipping. My hair is very thin and scraggly, but after Becky is done with it it looks fabulous, feels great. I agree with all the glowing comments about Becky DeLa Rosa. Both my husband and I have been clients of hers for a year and a half. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair, both for the color and the cuts. Her haircuts grow out better than any I've ever had--there are usually no bad hair days between visits. She has her own ideas but says she doesn't "want to be a bully" and is open to anything I've wanted. We also appreciate her as a person--she's a responsible citizen, progressive and tolerant, passionate about her beliefs particularly on the environment. She's very concerned about the chemicals from beauty shops going into the water system, and tries to use only the most benign products. Becky is great...I've been going to her for nearly 2 years now, and when I leave I am always thrilled with the cut. She really knows what she's doing with regard to color, too--she's the first person to color my hair and I couldn't ask for a better experience. I also just LIKE her: she remembers my preferences, is very eco-conscious, has a fun sense of humor and isn't afraid to be serious, either. She seems happy to see me every 2 months and doesn't try to over-schedule appointments (I remember working with a woman who told me she got her hair colored every six weeks, but Becky is much more flexible).
