My first visit to this salon was today for an appointment I made online. When you book an appointment online with this salon, you pay upfront. Which I didn't mind, I'm a licensed cosmetologist myself and I charge a deposit to hold the spot. However, Suite Extensions charge the full price depending on Jr Stylist or Senior Stylist and service selected. I paid for a senior stylist Chanel however, when arrived I was told that she wasn't coming in today and in fact was no longer working there. Now why would that be aonline selection if this stylist was not available? Definitely not right to charge clients a higher a cost then not given what you pay for. There was no senior stylist in today, only one girl. I gave this place a try since I heard so many good reviews. I even sent clients here when I was not able to service them based on race reviews. I managed a hair store on south street and sent clients here also just for me to try them out and get less than great service. Not professional at all. This is an industry where service matters. You can literally go anywhere. When you want to support black businesses and this happens to smh My hair was done by Siani, which I did post pics of. Once home, I had the chance to look at my hair. I got my hair done 3 days ago and my closure is already a complete mess ! Chanel was nice but the glue she used was horrible and the way my hair is cut is uneven ,When Jeff installed my closure it lasted a really long time and the glue stayed on for a long time . Also when I called to complain about my edges and closure melting the receptionist was very rude and her attitude was disgusting she was not nice and helpful at all . Terrible place. I've been here three times and each time was progressively worse. I've finally decided I will never give them my business again. I've had to wait TWO HOURS past my appointment time before they started my hair. I also had to wait one hour past my appointment time. Why? If they can't honor appointments, they need to stop taking appointments and be a walk-in only shop. The customer's time is valuable, too. The stylist or manager has never even apologized for severely missing my appointment times, which indicates that this is a standard practice for Suite Extensions. One of the stylists roughly brushed my sew-in from the roots to tips, which caused a lot of shedding. I came home and saw a bald spot in my closure which was not there prior to the service I received at Suite Extensions. The stylist I've had was also overall unpleasant and seemed to be in a rush. The prices here are somewhat cheaper than some other salons, but the customer service and quality are so poor that it's worth it to spend a bit more elsewhere. I am not rating this salon. I am rating my stylist, Jeff...I've always enjoyed male stylists--but he is the mirror reflection of total excellence. He's professional, talented to the highest height of anyone's imagination, and quite enjoyable on a personal tier. It's hard to find committed stylists who work with your busy schedule, inconsistent approaches to personal image, and lingering life interruptions. In all the travel I must endure to get to him, I always leave quite happy. Indeed, that matters. Furthermore, Jeff needs to open up his own salon. I never review sites but this time I felt the need to share the experience we had with Suite Extensions. My friend and I drove two hours to this place and had the worst experience one could imagine. The lack of professionalism and good customer service is beyond words. If Yelp allowed zero stars that would be the rating. We called two weeks in advance and were given two 11am appointments for a Wednesday. We specifically asked for the most experienced stylists and were told our request could be accommodated. On the day of service my friend and I arrived 15 minutes early for our appointments. We both decided on the $90 "Premium" package, which consists of a complete sew in with closure net, detailed cut and style. In an effort to keep this post short and painless, here are the facts: **VIEW THE PICS** Black hair - stylist was "Quintaya"(not to be confused with Quanda who was originally requested based on her reviews but was out on leave) She was pleasant, and on time but as seen in the picture the outcome in no way justified the price. My friends cut was uneven and the end of the track was visible and lifted on top of her head. The stylist noticed the lifting and made an attempt to glue the track down with no success. What happen to the closure she paid for? FAILURE!! Brownish/blonde hair-stylist was "Jasmine". Where do I begin!! She was rude, unpleasant, and unprofessional. I was left waiting for approx. 30 minutes while she ran out for a drink, talked with other stylists, and made personal calls. I had to pass a comment to Jeff (Manager) in order to get service. Basically, as you can see from the posted pics she had no clue what to do. She constantly took tracks from the back to fill the front because she ran out of hair. She went to other stations searching for random pieces and even tried to sell me on adding mismatch hair to my head. The CRAZY thing I provided 2 full packs!! Let me just say the whole experience was a disaster from START TO FINISH!! And the outcome of the weave was horrible not to mention wearing an up style was out of the question. Once outside in the day light, the reality of this mess became VERY clear. We immediately called and expressed our dissatisfaction with Jeff. We both requested full or partial refunds and both were denied. After asking for the owners name and contact info, we were then told a woman name Melanie was the manager. We left our info for her, and never received a call back. A week passed and we finally got in contact with Melanie. She claimed Jeff never told her of the complaint and told us to write an email to the owner detailing the issue and our request for refund. Bottom line, the email was sent and NO RESPONSE!!! Horrible experience. I booked an 11am appointment a week in advance. I got to my appointment and was told the stylist was not there. Another stylist said the stylist that was assigned to me was on her way. After an HOUR, I got up to ask for an update. I never requested this specific stylist. So I was confused as to why no one else was able to do my hair. Again, I was told she was on her way. After an hour and a half. I just walked out. I WAITED AN HOUR AND A HALF FOR THIS STYLIST TO BE A NO SHOW! Obviously, this salon has no consideration for their customer's time! Unfortunately, I will not return and will not recommend! I've been here at least seven times over the years and the place has gone downhill dramatically. It honestly might as well be closed because there was only one person working at the shop. All the talented stylists that have once styled my hair have left (Kiya, Chanel, Mike, Tish, etc). I scheduled an appointment with Kiya only to be told when I arrived that that she no longer works there. I was never notified. Lol the only person working did my hair (there were no customers) and she did a good job, but still...the turnover rate is horrible. It's either a hit or a miss at this salon honestly. My first time here wasn't the best, I didn't have an appointment so I waited almost 2 hours. The stylists are very comfortable with one another because they were having multiple conversations with each other(over the music) And that makes the work take longer than usual , especially when your in a rush, && when the sew in's are only $50.. You expect to just get in & get out. That brings me to recently. I scheduled my appointment For 9am, I know that's the time they're posted to open, but I didn't get into the actual salon chair until about 9:50(give or take a few minutes) .. Nah. The overall 4 star rating this salon currently has needs some SERIOUS explanation and clarification. Allow me. I actually want to support this business because there are talented stylists who work there, and they work hard. The stylists are also generally friendly and fun to be around. But after going here for 2 or 3 years, it is very clear the business owners haven't created a professional environment for those stylists at all. As a result, their commitment to professionalism is sorely lacking. I can cite actual conversations I've overhead the stylists having on the floor and past experiences that highlight all this, but instead I'll write about my most recent (and probably final) appointment which was today. I called the day before requesting a specific stylist I liked, but the receptionist said she didn't know her schedule. So I was assigned to a different stylist. I asked about how long a maintenance visit takes (for a wash, dry, tightening tracks, and styling) and the receptionist tells me an hour. Training is clearly NOT a priority here. After the number of times I've been here, I knew that was a boldfaced lie, but whatever. The day of, my stylist hadn't arrived yet for our appointment but when they call her, says she's on her way. Alright. It happens, I guess? I've already made the trip down there by public transit so I decided to wait. After almost an hour, to accommodate her lateness, another stylist voluntarily washes my hair (I hadn't fussed or demanded this) and does the actual, literal least that could be done. Just some half-hearted lathering and careless rinsing 2 or 3 times. I know it wasn't this stylist's job, and I'm sure this person rightfully assumed there would be no compensation for washing my hair, so there was obvious resentment. But if management had a protocol in place for handling this kind of situation, this could have easily been avoided. Split the cost of services with the stylist that pitches in or something, I dunno. Either way, an understandable but still bad attitude should not have been taken out on me. And I shouldn't have to play a business consultant and an occupational therapist just to get my hair washed properly, yanno? Anyway, after sitting under the dryer for close to TWO HOURS (because other appointments were of course squeezed in around me), it was discovered I still had visible residue and flakes in my hair... I don't have a skin or scalp condition, I was just due for a wash. You could actually still feel the product build up in my hair when it had dried. Exactly what did I do to deserve such poor and improper care? All I did was politely agree to wait for my stylist to arrive and wait quietly. By this point, I had already spent over 3 hours of my day waiting and being poorly attended to (my smock kept slipping so my neck had no protection against the hooded dryer heat, power surges shut off the hair dryer at least 5 times), so we just keep going. A total of 4 hours and $40 later, my style looked alright (the original sew-in WAS done really nicely by a different SE stylist), but I was exhausted and really not sure why my service was continually poor after, again, I have been more than polite and understanding. Same day, different lighting, I can still see flakes and excess residue from old AND new product. The goop used to lay my edges was clumped by my ear. FOR WHY?! Unacceptable. I really didn't deserve this. And it doesn't have to be so difficult. I'm writing all this because it would be nice to see this place do well, but it seriously needs to do better. I don't entirely fault the stylists. They clearly aren't being held accountable and their management has no systems at all in place to support them. The owners clearly don't read these or any customer reviews, as evidenced by all the incorrect information on this Yelp listing. For example, the listing currently says they're closed on weekends, but they're really open Saturdays and Sundays (a nice bonus actually). But bottom line, though most of the stylists really are talented, the customer service skills at this salon seriously suck and I blame management for that. Service-wise, any extra styling service whatsoever (trims, deep conditioning even after a relaxer, etc) can have an upcharge. Also, the music played in the salon is generally loud and inappropriate, and all the eating and cell phone calls on the floor are out of hand. I once saw a roach crawling on the walls. The owners need to wake up because paying customers don't deserve to be treated this way and will, like me, eventually go elsewhere. Yes, you'll leave Suite Extensions with a nice-looking style most of the time if you're lucky (I've seen some that weren't), but you'll also leave with a headache because of the unnecessary hassle. read more

I had a great experience here. I was a walk in on a Friday and even though the salon was crowded I was seen quickly. Only 2 and a half hours for a bomb sew- in. The receptionist was very pleasant as we're all the staff. It wasn't stuffy, it was very comfortable and they played great music. My stylist was Kyia and she was very nice. She exceed my expectations.My hair is very short and thin in the front and she somehow managed to lay and blend my hair perfectly. This was hands down the best weave I've ever had. This salon could definitely use a few lessons in customer service and professionalism, but even so, everyone here has always been very polite and no one has ever been rude. My first experience here was a DISASTER. I called in on a Wednesday morning around 10/1030 and made a same day appointment for 1pm. I arrived right at 1, was greeted and asked by (who I now know is) Jeff to have a seat, and told that someone would be right with me. 2:15 rolled around and I was still waiting (in the front waiting a area where everyone gets their hair done - not in the back near the coat rack and TV). Another customer arrived around this time, and took a seat next to me. 15 minutes later a stylist walked over and asked her if she had an appointment, to which the customer replied no. She then asked if I had appointment, to which I replied yes - mind you I did not have an appointment with any particular stylist. Well, the walk-in customer was taken before me, and the only reason I didn't get up and walk the hell out sooner was because I desperately needed my hair re-done. Finally at 2:55 I was seen. The stylist apologized stating that she thought I was waiting on someone specific. I told her that I had my hair done 2 days ago and that it was a disaster -I needed it taken down, hair re-braided, and the hair sewn in as a versatile style. Despite telling her I had just been washed and conditioned 2 days ago - she insisted that since I was re-installing the hair already in my head, she didn't have a choice. In addition to taking FOREVER (it was after 7 by the time I was done) - the sew in was worse than when I came in - it was not a versatile style I could put up in a ponytail or bun, and there were visible lumps and bumps. And not surprisingly - at the end of the appointment the stylist apologized for taking so long, citing that it was her first day there. My second experience here was much better, and the only complaint I have is that I had to wait WELL beyond my appointment time - over an hour. My stylist was Jeff, it turned out that he ended up having two appointments booked at the same time. But all of that aside he did a fabulous job. He didn't braid my hair too tight and did my hair exactly as I asked. From here on out, in order to avoid a wait, and in order to avoid being stuck with another stylist; I will just have to make sure I book directly with Jeff, and book his first appointment of the day. read more

The stylists do a really good job but the receptionist needs to communicate to customers better. One time I called for an appointment and she told me to come in an hour before they were open. This time I called asking about pricing for a keratin treatment and she told me it was $75. Why did I come in to fill out which service I was receiving and it said a keratin treatment is $120. I met Quanda at the weave bar years ago and now that its called suite extension, shes still there. I can only speak for her as she has been my stylist for years. Her sew ins are great and last for months. Im happy to have found her and never plan on switching to anyone else. The salon isnt crowded and I didnt have to wait more than 10 min to be serviced. This establishment is going down hill and that is the exact reason I quit. After working here for a month as a stylist I realized this was not the place for me. The salons licensed was not renewed for six months causing the manager Yolanda to get heavily fined and put everyone else's jobs at risk, some of the stylist are very unprofessional and the place is dirty in various areas. It simply needs to be improved. The manager is rude and unprofessional as well, when I decided to quit - she not only withheld my belongings but my paycheck as well. Ohhhhh my God please DO NOT go to Carmen for a weave. She is really really really great at OTHER services but if you need a weave put it don't go to her. My Problems: 1) weave is lumpy 2) tracks loose 3) the leave out is off center and I asked for a CENTER PART 4) I asked for a sew in that would allow me to wear a ponytail because its hot outside. And this chick skips an ENTIRE row at the bottom of my hair and did not sew a track there. So I couldn't even wear a ponytail if I tried 5) She left ENDLESS spaces in between rows couldn't fit in all my hair. I told her about it and I admit it was late & she did take the time to try to fix it but it just made it more lumpy and awkward 6) Every time I comb my weave or run my fingers through it there are large bunches caught up in a stitch because she ain't sew it right. Beside the profanity my stylist was on the phone during most of my service and she didn't listen to what I wanted. Let's get to my hair. My stylist was a girl with colored hair. I forgot her name. I gave her some bundles that I purchased the night before and asked her to color them blonde with purple tips... the next day I arrived to get it installed. I wasn't a big fan of the way the color turned out. She installed my hair and I HATED it. As I proceeded to tell her what I did NOT like about the install she replied to me saying "I know what I am doing. I went to school and I know how to cut and style" Needless to say my hair was a mess. I went to the bathroom to get a closer look only to hear her on the salon floor talking about me. Siani did my versatile sew in. First of all she was an hour late. I had the first appointment at 9 and she didn't get there until after 10. She didn't apologize for being late or anything. I paid $120 in total for my sew in. I stated that I would like to be able to put my hair into a high ponytail or bun. My sew in was so bumpy that I could not put it in anything higher than a LOW ponytail. I had to take my hair out a week later due to the bad quality of the sew in. I made an appointment for 12:00pm, when I arrive the stylist said she was running late and had one customer in front of me, (okay great I was fine with that). I walked back to the waiting area and there was no where to sit and various kids running around, spilling juice on the floor. I told her I had been waiting for 2hours and a half and she said, "it's a first come first served!" I went to The Weave Bar this past Saturday. I got the "Premium" which is a sew-in with complete closure and a net. I ended up getting my service done at the new Gemantown location. The West Philly location already had a really long wait by 9:45am. The desk receptionist informed me the Germantown location didn't have wait, so I hopped in my car headed to the Germantown location It's located at the corner of Germantown and Chelton Aves. I liked the layout of the Germantown location better than West Philly location because it is more open and the waiting area is separated from customers getting there hair done. All the employess there were very friendly, cordial, and professional. The receptionists helps you decide what service(s) is(are) best for you and will give recommendations on which stylist you should have do your sew-in. I was able to be started right away since there was no wait which was great. One of the assistants braided my hair. The assistants actually perform all the prep services (like washing hair, etc). The stylist I had is named Daaimah. She is great! She is fast and can give you any style you want. Daaimah used to work at the West Philly location but has now moved to the Germantown location along with Quanda and Katrina. I'll definitely go back even though I live all the way in Maryland. I'll update this review after some time passes to tell how the weave is holding up. I recommend The Weave Bar, especially because of the price. read more

No longer the 'Weave Bar' and under new management, 'Suite Extensions' offers a classy environment with professional service. I arrived at 8:45a on a Saturday and the doors opened 5 minutes before 9a. When you walk upstairs, the decor is dark but feminine. The space is big so you never feel crowed. I appreciate the waiting room in the back so you're not staring at other customers while waiting to get your hair done. I was called maybe 5 minutes after I arrived. I immediately recognized the stylist (Jerri) from a previous location years ago. She did my weave and we chatted it up. She did not make my braids too tight, I got what I asked for and she was fast. I was out with a full and styled weave in 2 hours. This location has street parking and the street can be very busy the later it gets. As usual come early, come with your hair clean, and clearly state what you would like. I am very satisfied with my service. read more

My hair is very thin and it is hard to find anyone to put the micro beads in my hair tight enough and the weave bar are far most the best ones so far and if a few get loose I just go in and they do it for me. I went to the weave bar twice. I visited both locations once. The appearance of the overall hairstyle was perfect. The quality of the sew in is not worth the money. There prices are cheap for a reason. I had gotten the deluxe special both times. Within two weeks I needed to go back for my tracks to be tighten up. Now I know why they call it their signature sew in. Both times the tracks lifted up at the same place. The ends of the tracks must not be sewed down all the way. It's good for a quick fix. Friendly faces, great atmosphere! The pricing was reasonable (make sure your hair is washed and conditioned prior to going for the discounted price). The young lady who styled my hair seemed a little inexperienced--tracks were showing in the front and on the side, the thread was showing in the front (I didn't notice until I got home and had a closer look--I will be taking the weave down). Nevertheless, I will likely go back, but will choose a different stylist as I saw other women walk out with great weaves. Absolutely horrible. DO NOT get your hair done here. They charge so much and do is so fast to spend the least bit of quality time on your hair. Got my hair done here and removed it in 2 days - wasted $250. DO NOT go there unless you want to waste your time and money and get inferior work done to your hair. I went to Suite Extensions on a recommendation. I was initially VERY apprehensive but I must say i was quite pleased with the salon's atmosphere and my stylist Quanda. Quanda braided my hair PERFECTLY knowing that i was a tenderhead. She listened to and respected my requests and concerns i am very pleased with every aspect of my experience at Suite Extensions. The price for this sue in is perfect. I went to e Germantown location. The girl who braided my hair sat and starred at me for 15mins before she started(idk what that was about) the stylist didn't even tell me her name. She seemed like she had a attitude . I was there about two and a half hours. She didn't leave enough hair out u can see my tracks. I prob will go back but tell them they didn't leave out enough hair. The one braided didn't know what she was doing. She braided one ladies hair and the stylist had to take it out and do it again.... read more

Had bad experiences in the past with sew ins. I must say I am really enjoying my sew in. A stylist named Tia did my hair in a nice amount of time and charged a reasonable price. I would totally recommend The Weave Bar in Germantown. read more
