Near the end of my appointment, a male entered and as someone who wears the hijab; I was quickly asked if I wanted to go to the back room. I myself didn't even put two and two together! I was absolutely touched by the empathy and consideration of this. It really touched my heart! I love my haircut! I don't need to style it with products to see my layers! I asked for 1/2 inch just a small trim. I am getting married and want to grow my hair out. The hair stylist ended up cutting over an inch off, and thinned out my hair. I was upset because she did what she thought would look good vs what I asked for. Also, my blowout was really frizzy. It may have been my specific stylist. I don't think I'd return for a haircut.

I am always offered a cup of coffee (which is the best coffee IMO) and am seen promptly for my appt time. But let's get to the actual service. Jade does a perfect job on my blonde highlights and cut. When she handed me a mirror to check the back, I was shocked. It looked like I'd been run over by a lawn mower. There was no shape and no volume; I could do (and have done) a better job on myself, in the dark with manicure scissors. They comped the whole experience, most likely so I wouldn't write this review. Three hours later I found another salon to give me a pixie. The rescue stylist confirmed that Irene's hack job was every bit as bad as I thought. I now have MUCH shorter hair than I wanted, but at least it looks intentional.

Irene understands hair, listens, is great with feedback, talks you through the process and is overall a great conversationalist. I enjoyed some wine as we chatted about what my hair goals were and she absolutely gave me the haircut and color I asked for. I waited a couple of days post cut to report back on my experience to see how it was after I washed it- it's absolutely perfect, the hair cut, the color - I'm in love with how I look, I feel like we brought back my natural color in a dynamic way and the cut is easy to style. What was really genuine was Irene's candor about the process. She told me if I had any issues in a few days to let her know and we'd work it out. That is a true artist and stylist. I highly recommend Irene. The space is also really beautiful at Plume, one of the nicest salon bathrooms I've ever seen. I felt welcomed and really enjoyed my experience.

We spent several minutes talking about what shade we were going for, exactly, how this would be achieved, and what the price would be. The final result was excellent, exactly as I wanted. Maria got the warmth of copper with the vibrancy/pizzaz of a redder shade. In the past several days, I haven't had my fill of seeing it in the corner of my eyes in the sunlight, haha. It even smelled nice. From the first, customer service was great. I came a bit early and waited with the shop dog, who also joined me while the dye was taking. Maria worked with me to find what I wanted and communicated really well during the consultation. Then, while she worked her magic on my hair, her friendly demeanor made me feel pretty, pampered, and most of all like I was spending a pleasant afternoon chatting with a friend (who was pampering me). My tips for getting a color here: bring a bunch of reference photos, book a free consultation, and arrive some minutes early to find parking if you're taking a car.
