I came in Monday and was promised a one-week turnaround and given a Saturday pickup date. When I called on Saturday, I was told they hadn't even touched my dresses after an entire week. They then pushed completion to Wednesday, despite knowing I was leaving for Europe. When I raised concerns, they offered only a $30 discount. When I finally picked up the dresses, one had a broken sash that I specifically asked them to repair, yet it was returned improperly attached and clearly rushed. The quality of the work did not reflect the price charged. What frustrated me most was the lack of accountability. Instead of apologizing for missing their commitment, we were told that young people are ungrateful and don't understand how hard they work. I understand that unexpected issues happen, but customers should not have to pay full price for missed deadlines, poor communication, damaged garments, and rushed workmanship. Unfortunately, this experience was unprofessional from start to finish.

We noticed that when we were drop off our clothes, they would always come back really nice for a really good price. We also noticed they did stitching and stuff like that. We've used them three times in the last two months and have never been steered wrong. But this time I was completely blown away. I asked them to take a pillowcase that was for my son, which was over the size for his pillow that he loves. And turn it into two pillowcases. Not only did they do that but they made it feel super elegant and beautiful. I could not ask for anything better! The quality of these pillowcases are amazing. It is perfect for my son and this is the reason I go to them every single time. I am completely happy with this and so is my son.

I came in with two suits I've had for years that needed to be dry cleaned, which basically means they've never been cleaned :P One of those suits needed to have buttons re-sewn and the pant legs hemmed. They did a good job but we're a little expensive, they did have a Yelp deal which helped a little. I later came back with the leather jacket that had zippers on the sleeves, the sleeves were too long because for some reason I was born to wear a large while having medium arms. I called every tailor I could and they all refused, so I came back here and they were able to take care of it pronto, and by pronto I mean they forgot to do it, ended up taking 2 weeks but I wasn't in a hurry considering Solano county fall is 70 degrees. The leather jacket came out fantastic, it looks as if it came out of the factory perfectly tailored to my body. One thing that did bother me, I don't appreciate paying for the item being cleaned or tailored upfront. They already have my item which means if it gets lost or damaged, I'm out on the item and lost some cash! So far they've been super friendly and I think these guys are going to be my one-stop-shop whenever I do decide to dry clean nice suits again. ;)

Of course, I have seen travel focused stores in the past, but this was the largest one I've ever seen. over the decades, I found that some of the little travel accessories can really make a difference. I heartily recommend travel pillows. And luggage tags that don't rip off. When I first popped in through the door, I was greeted by some familiar brands like Samsonite and a few more unfamiliar ones. Then I wandered over to the back of the store and there was the biggest collection of Briggs and Riley's luggage I have ever seen. Now you may be wondering why I'm so excited about this one brand. Here is some history. I purchased two pieces of Samsonite. Both lasted about eight years. The grips on the suitcase, kind of melted in my hand at the end plus the wheels fell off. The second one broke on my way to the airport. I had to go back to my place and do an emergency repack. I also had two travel pro pieces. These did a little better. the travel pros lasted about 15 years each which was definitely a step up. These days I don't take chances with my luggage. I retire them before they have a chance to fall apart on me right in the middle of an airline flight. I received a Briggs and Riley piece of luggage as a gift 25 years ago. The luggage itself shows absolutely no signs of deterioration. The wheels are perfect, the handles feel steady, the only thing that's showing a little bit of wear are the zipper pulls which has fallen off due to heavy duty use. Of course, all my luggage did this and a lot earlier than the Briggs and Riley. However, Briggs and Riley has a lifetime warranty. The very friendly staffer at Departures was pleased to explain the warranty to me. She was clear, friendly and knew her business. First, it's a no questions asked warranty. The company will fix it. there are several options for repair. You can take it to an authorized Briggs and Riley repair center. The repair time can vary from a few days to a few weeks. The other option is to simply mail the luggage to Briggs and Riley. You will have to pay a shipping fee, but the return fee is covered by the company. I feel great appeal because throwing away a broken piece of luggage that only lasted a few years is some serious environmental impact and I'd like to avoid it. The biggest barrier to buying Briggs and Riley is the high price upfront. The luggage can cost 5-10 times more compared to discounted luggage at major retail stores. On the other hand, the Briggs and Riley even over 25 years has never fallen apart on my way to the airport. When you've only given yourself two hours of leeway to arrive at your airport, dragging your suitcase, back and repacking is an incredibly stressful experience. Cost wise, compared to the Briggs and Riley I have would have purchased approximately three pieces of Samsonite in the same timeframe. The price of the Samsonite even with the sale is starting to approach the price of the Briggs and Riley. And after the Samsonite fell to pieces , I will not trust that brand ever again. Comparing Briggs and Riley versus other brands of luggage by price alone doesn't really work because the warranty will basically fix the Briggs and Riley until either the company fails or you do. Just be aware that the airlines can change the requirements for luggage when it pleases them. You might want to purchase a smaller piece just in case things get much worse in the future. Now the exciting part about the luggage at Departures are the discounts. I have never ever seen Briggs and Riley discounted. If I had known all this at the beginning, I would have purchased myself a set of Briggs and Riley, even though the price would be comparatively exorbitant because the long-term value exceeds all the other companies. So if you think you've got a couple of decades of travel ahead of you, take my advice and go take a look at Departures. And leave the luggage to someone in your will. The warranty still covers it.

The first bag they did not sew the flags straight, but what really got me was they sewed through the pocket into the main bag cutting my pocket space in half. This is not what was requested and should have warranted a call/conversation to see if I would be okay with this. And they acknowledged this, but wouldn't offer to fix it, just to cut them all off. The second bag the flags were not sewn on straight so I asked to have it redone. She redid them and they were straight, but two were upside down . I asked to have these two fixed so they would be right side up and they did. But they were sewn on crooked again. I gave up after this... I figured they would be able to do this easy. I was wrong. As a last note, they charged $130 for sewing 13 patches improperly on two bags.
